~The Shadow Haunters~ (The Ruins)
With dusk closing in, the setting sun promised some respite from the sweltering heat that had been baking the Valley today. And for the denizens the eastern slopes of the mountains, that blessed sunset came a little earlier. It was being watched by Moonfall, whose deep orange orbs were cast upwards at the languid dancing of the canopy above her, and the fractured beams of light that passed through them. She squinted when a shift in the branches brought a more direct dose of sunlight straight into her eyes, then shook her head and dropped her ebony muzzle away.
"Watching the sun only slows it down." Tophee purred in humor at her lupine companion. The big cat herself was stretched out on her side, her boldly striped sides rising and falling in rapid motion with her panting.
Moonfall blinked a few more times, trying to clear the bright spots from her eyes, "Can't blame a wolf for trying." She'd mused back wryly, before resetting her focus on the one thing neither of them could afford to lose track of - Kharth. Today it had been their turn to keep an eye on the growing Haunter, and make sure he didn't step foot beyond the swirling waters of the moat.
