This large two-story building greets visitors at the end of a lushly landscaped parking lot, where people will pass by clusters of native plants and beautifully filled and maintained planters. The structure itself has been renovated and brightened, welcoming guests into a sprawling lobby stocked with educational pamphlets and books about the local wildlife and ecosystems. An information desk is situated off to the side of the lobby, where visitors can ask questions, request tours, or seek help with problematic or injured wildlife. The upper floor has several displays covering the fauna and flora of the Valley, a conference room, and an interactive monitoring station where visitors can watch live footage of the Wolf Run and several active cam trails placed about the property. The basement is restricted to employees, and has a ramp leading out into the back lot, so wildlife can be transferred in and out beyond the public eye. Part of this lower floor has been maintained as a treatment clinic and lab for assessing injured wildlife. Numerous pens, inside and out in the back lot, provide the center room to keep and care for the creatures they oversee. The outdoor enclosure beyond the facility covers 32 acres of land, with a mix of open fields, forests, a large pond, and an 'enrichment area', where a variety of man-made structures and play toys are scattered. A few hay-filled den boxes can be found throughout the area, dug into the ground to give the canines a warm place to sleep during the winter, and a safe place to rest when they want to get away from the prying eyes of humans. The enclosure is surrounded by a double 8-foot, barbwire-topped fence, with a deep cement base that makes escape nearly impossible. Around the outside of the fence are walking trails and observation stands where visitors can stroll at their leisure and try to catch a glimpse of the inhabitants inside.
