> -Damn it- As soon as she grabbed the egg, Ember knew she'd used too much force. Her disappointment didn't last long though, and not one to be easily discouraged, she made use of her mistake by tossing her slate gray head back and gulping down the damaged egg between her bright yellow beak. Ember then shook her dial, replanted her large talons, and aimed a far gentler reach for the last egg... > > "And I'll have crow for lunch" Back at the other tree, Cedarwood's threatening cry was louder this time, and the snap of his beak more furious as he took the bait and lunged his head forward to meet the taunting crow. He didn't hear or see the second one until the sharp stab of pain on his backend alerted him, one important flight feather too late. "Hey!" Cedar tried to swivel about on the branch, but the close press of needles made maneuvering difficult at best. "Ember, I need some help over here!"
