> "Aye, yeah yeah." Keedle's voice was still lingering in an unusually quieted tone as he turned a distracted response back to his six-limbed friend. He didn't spare a look to her, nor flinch when Chloe's heavy back limbs skewered the dewy grass less than a foot to his right as she passed overhead. He was used to her scuttling around. Used to her handling the heavy lifting, and stepping in to fasten the threads on an unraveling scheme. > > What he wasn't used to was a plan going so far south that his ultimate safeguard had failed. > > The silence that fell between the words was punctuated by the troll's labored breaths. Above that, he could still feel the waves of heat radiating from the dragon's flared nostrils, coming in quick, heavy blasts. Keedle didn't need to look up to know that fear was still written in the giant, sage-green eyes of the beast, and he didn't want to. > > Now wasn't the time for pity or spirals though. There was nothing he could do to bring a dead agent back to life, or help Erathun work magic that he himself had no understanding of. But if plan A-D didn't work, there was always plan E. > > "Chloe's got things handled here-" The goblin's voice picked back up as he pushed himself up from the ground and shifted his thirty-some pounds of weight onto his good foot, "-don't worry about the magic, Ratch'll take care of that. Grab him and James, and..." > > The little man faltered for a split second as he looked from the troll and prawn, then finally up to Erathun as the logistics hit him. The dragon had only two front paws, for two unresponsive passengers. And like his father, the young Green didn't have much in the way of spines or fancy physical adornments that the goblin could hold onto during flight. It took just a second or two more before Keedle's brain had worked back up to speed, and he picked up just as Erathn's balking expression threatened to turn hostile again, "...I'll lash some cloth together, and harness myself to your leg. Easy, eh?" > > A curse was the next thing to come out of the goblin's mouth as he tried taking a step forward, followed by a sharp and irritated bark of orders to prompt Era to get moving as he picked himself back up from the ground. The young dragon was still grappling with the fallout of all that had happened, including his own overwrought emotions, but these orders were something he could at least digest. With great care, Erathun grabbed James and gingerly wedged his golden fingers beneath Zhenn, while Keedle quickly and efficiently cut strips of the troll's leggings away. > > By the time Keedle had fashioned himself a makeshift harness and lashed it onto one of Era's front legs, Chloe was returning for the third unconscious agent. -I could use your help here Erathun, after you've dropped them off.- She paused long enough to actually look to the dragon child, offering him a lingering gaze with a pair of deep olive-green eyes nearly as large as the dragon's, -Regrowing the grass over the hole will help to disguise it, once I fill it back in.- And then she was moving again, reaching for the third agent before clambering away. > > "Sure... yeah." Was all that Erathun was able to force out, a little caught off guard. He never really spent time with this strange alien, but he could grow things. That was something he was good at. Something he enjoyed. > > "I'll be back with him before dawn." Keedle added with a grunt, as he tightened an extra knot in his harness. He was clinging to the dragon's forelimb, having hoisted himself up above a paw that was tenuously closed around James, "We'll get a plan rolling on Little Friend, and figure out the agent situation. Alright big guy! Hit the skies!" > > Erathun, already leaned back onto his haunches now that his front paws were full, coiled his muscles anew. Keedle closed his eyes and gritted his teeth. And then his stomach was swept out from under him as the young Green launched upwards, throwing his weight into the sky and heaving his wings against the early morning air. A few more strenuous beats and a flail of his long tail soon had the beast in the air, slowly but steadily climbing upwards, and on his way to the distant city of Laissez Faire.
