General

1. This site is open to all levels and styles of rpers.

2. Eltica revolves around story-telling and character development through RPing; all interactions, including battles, are played out in character without specific rules or regulations to follow. The only exception to this is a basic structure for stealing eggs and crystals (see below for more details).

3. Situations may be implied, but no actual 'adult content' is allowed on this site in any form.

4. Please wait to have your character approved before playing.

5. When filling out the Joining form, please take your time and make sure that you are happy with your character's information. Once your character has started/joined in a thread, their physical features (size, color, ect) cannot be changed.

6. Humans and dragons should not have any history of interaction between one another prior to leaving Usearous.

7. If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions or otherwise, please contact me --> Kyla

Humans

1. The continent of Eltica has been inhabited for about sixty-one years by humans now. When you join a new character, you can chose to either have them already living on the continent, or just arriving from a journey across the ocean.

2. Be creative! Mold your human character however you see fit, with their own unique backstory, culture, and race. However, please keep in mind that that these are all 'early' humans, equivalent to stone-age people. No guns, elaborate technologies, ect.

3. For the sake of simplicity, most humans can speak the 'Common' language, due to extensive trading between various cultures while they lived on the Islands. This doesn't mean your characters has to speak the Common language, but it helps to cover the language gap of so many cultures.

4. Want to start a village or tribe of your own? You can lay claim to an area on any of the IC boards! Let me known on the OOC and you will get your own board for your band. However, keep in mind the more villages settled in one area, the more competition for food and resources there will be. It may also be wise to consider how many resident dragons live in the area, and if they are friendly to humans or not.

5. Some humans have shown the ability to wield magic after collecting the minerals found around the dragons' territories. (See below for more details)

Dragons

1. All surviving dragons have fled Usearous by the middle of Year 51 (July 2012) and have not seen their homeland since. Between that time and when your dragon arrives on Eltica (when you join) your dragon has been living off the islands scattered across the great ocean.

2 See the Dragon Broods page for information on the dragons available for joining.

3. Magic is an important aspect of your dragon. More magic power results in larger clutch sizes, healthier offspring, and the overall dominance of your dragon's particular brood. A character's magical power will be tracked on the Members page, and listed as a number next to their name.

4. Part of a dragon's magic comes from the land itself. The longer a dragon holds claim on a particular area, the more magical power the dragon (and others of its brood) have while in that area. For example, if a Blue dragon claims land in the Hilkaim Highlands, they and all other Blue dragon will have better chances at fighting off foes, raising clutches, ect, while in the Highlands. The more dragons of a particular brood that claim area on one board, the more power they will have there. Please post on the Updates board when your dragon has chosen an IC board to reside in.

5. 120 feet is the maximum length (from snout to tail tip) that dragons can be joined.

6. 4,500 years is the maximum age a dragon can be joined.

7. Dragons can shapeshift into other creatures they've seen before (with varying degrees of success). Dragons are vulnerable in these forms, sharing the physical weakness of whatever creature they are in guise of. Their magic is also greatly subdued in shifted form.

Leaders

1. Every dragon brood is lead by one Brood Leader. They are responsible for looking after their brood, establishing rules for their followers to adhere to, and tackling any problems that might arise.

2. Brood Leaders can be on hiatus for no more than two weeks at a time. Past that time, their position cannot be safeguarded.

3. When challenged, a Leader has a week to respond. If they do not respond, the challenger automatically earns 100 points and becomes the new Leader.

4. When a challenge occurs, there is a three day limit between posts. If one challenger does not make a reply within that time, the other wins by default.

5. All fights are played out in character, with no guidelines or specific rules.

6. If a Leader steps down or is otherwise removed from position, the first dragon to claim their spot will automatically gain 100 points (a single character can only earn this 100 pt bonus once).

7. Players can claim no more than one Leadership position at a time. NPCs may be used on occasion to hold positions until an eligible player is found.

NPCs

1. Anyone can play human NPCs, and can acquire dragon NPCs through special events posted on the OOC, or by claiming hatchlings as NPCs.

2. The NPC List shows how many NPCs dragons (as well as certain humans) are on Eltica at the time.

3. NPCs can be acquired as consorts, nest tenders, or provide other roles.

Magic & Earning Points

1. A character's magical power, whether they are dragon or human, is based off of their activity.
- For every three months that your character is actively in the game, they will earn 40 bonus points.
- Characters receive 6 points per post (up to a maximum of five posts) per month.
- Multiple characters can be used in a single post, but for each character to earn a point for it, they must be present and described within that post.
- Copy/paste (recycled) posts do not count towards points.
- Contributing to Eltica's Wiki at least once during the month will earn ALL of your active characters 10 points (they must have been posted at least once during the month to receive these bonus points). Contributions can be as simple as correcting a spelling/grammar mistake, or editing information on your character's page.

2. Magic & Humans - Humans can only begin wielding magic after successfully stealing crystals from any IC board where dragons reside.
- The type of magic used by humans depends on which brood they've collected their crystals from (see the Dragon Broods page for more information on types of magic). Humans can collect from as many different broods as they like, or choose to specialize in one or a few fields of magic.
- Unlike dragons who are restricted to a single field of magic, magic wielding humans must choose which fields they wish to spend their points. (Let me know on the Updates board when you want to transfer points to a specific field of magic).

3. Every character has a Review date, which is the same date that they joined. (So if you joined a character on May 12th, the 12th of every month is their Review date).

4. Please post on the Updates board each month for your Review to let me know of what posts you have made during the past month. Your character's points will then be updated.

5. If a character doesn't respond to their Review within a month, that character will lose 40 points, and will continuing losing points each month until they are accounted for.

6. Once a Review date is missed, any potential points earned during that month cannot be redeemed.

7. Characters that reach -20 points (they cannot go lower than this) will be removed from the game and considered inactive, but can be brought back at any time by posting on the Updates board.

8. Characters can be put on hiatus if you no longer wish to play them. This will ensure they keep their current points indefinitely, even if you leave the game. Old characters are always welcome back! Toyle will probably remember you.

9. Though magic is important to dragons, players should not be concerned about big gaps in magical strength between their new characters and that of older, more established characters in the game. Magic is only a small part of a dragon's strength - size, age, personality, experience, and the various circumstances in a given situation all play a larger role when it comes to fighting and dominance.

Stealing Crystals & Eggs

1. In order for humans to wield magic, they must first steal crystals from any IC board where a dragon resides (each board will have a list of 'Inhabitants', including resident dragons and human settlements).

2. To steal a crystal, your character must make a general post about finding a dragon's nesting site and attempting to take a crystal. If no dragon responds within 24 hours, you can then make a closing post about your character leaving the site with a crystal. Once the closing post is made, the steal is considered successful. (Please let me know on the Updates board if this happens).

3. Stealing dragon eggs works similarly to stealing crystals. There must be eggs in the area however (unhatched eggs will be listed on each board, under the 'Inhabitants').

4. To steal more than one egg, you must wait an additional 12 hours per extra egg you wish to steal. If a dragon responds at any point during that time, you are not guaranteed any eggs, even if you have have waited over 24 hours to get the first one. A closing post must be made to verify a successful steal.

5. If a dragon responds to a steal of any kind before a closing post is made, the thread can be played out.

6. If a dragon responds to a steal and the thread is played out, there is a three-day time limit between posts. If either the dragon or the thief take longer than three days to respond, the other will win by default.
