Zula flew toward the highlands. Her son clinging to her back. If it weren't for her sons open eyes and horns you wouldn't know there was another dragon on her. She wasn't sure where she was going but she was searching out the place with the crystals and what she and other blues needed so when she was over the highlands she gazed down at the ground and saw other animals taking over but lucky for them she wasn't hungry. She circled a few times and each time she got lower and lower and when she landed she ran a few feet before stopping. She lowered herself to the ground and Tayo climbed off. She laid down and nuzzled her son.lets rest here little oneShe spoke softly.
Tayo yawned and nodded to his mother and now walked off a few feet following a mouse. Within a few seconds he pounced grabbing the mouse in his mouth and swallowing it.
It had been a few weeks since Valdrovas first made it to Eltica and found a quiet, secluded patch of ground to claim as her turf. The isolation at first assuaged her frayed nerves and the agonizing worry over catching the plague, which was what had eventually driven the Matriarch from Usearous in the first place. Yet after two weeks of doing little but patrolling her ground and watching the precious blue minerals begin to form, the eighty-six foot dragon started to snap out of her paranoid seclusion and began to actively yearn for the presence of her beloved Blue kin.
By the third week, Val was actively scouring her land and the areas around for any signs of other dragons. Somewhere on the wind, she could scent another Blue, but in an area so vast as the Highlands, it took a considerable amount of searching - and some luck - before she finally caught sight of Zula and the hatchling down blow. Her dark, navy blue eyes shown with silent joy to see not only another blue, but a youngster too. She shifted her great wings, drawing them closer to her body as she angled her long, fang-lined muzzle downward to begin her descent towards the pair. "Greetings, my kin." Her voice was as melodic as it was raspy, and every bit as inviting as her expressionate navy eyes were. The ground trembled slightly when she finally touched down, with a swirl of snow that billowed up under the heavy drafts of wind from her beating wings. "I was beginning to wonder if any other Blues had made it."
Yazula watched her son hunt and just laid there. The snow didn't bother her at all and it was quiet today. However; when a shadow flew over she got up immediatly and called her small son to her and she let out a warning growl. Angling her body to be protective over her hatchling. She watched the other blue circle and soon dive down to the ground. Zula could tell this was the matriach and well being she was not really caring to be a matriach she just kept her eyes on the female. Her tail flicked to the side as the other spoke. Friendly. She calmed down now that she didn't seem like she would harm tayo. Yes well it was a difficult journey She spoke calmly.Im Yazula or Zula for short and this is Tayo the only one of my last clutch to survive She spoke softly. Tayo was now between his mothers front legs.
He looked up at the female and was silent for just a moment. Then growled as if he thought he was big and could take her.
The other dragon's protectiveness did not fluster Valdrovas in the least. As a mother herself, she understood very well the protective drive over one's hatchlings, and merely waited until the wariness in Yazula waned and she seemed to calm down. Only then did Valdrovas move forward, taking slow steps that drove her curved talons into the frozen earth and left behind impressive marks in the snow. "Yazula, I am Matriarch Valdrovas." She was sure that Zula already knew this, since Valdrovas had been Matriarch for many years before they were all forced to flee, but because there was a new little one with her, the pale blue Matriarch reiterated her title. "Times have been rough for us all." Her tone was sympathetic for Zula's decimated clutch, and somber for the great losses that the entire Blue Brood had suffered of late.
The little one managed to bring a toothy smile to Val's face however, and her rasping chuckle cast small clouds of frozen breath into the air, "You're already shaping up to be a brave little dragon, young Tayo." Losing some of her somberness still, Val raised her head from where she'd lowered it to get a better look at the hatchling, and directed her dark eyes to the mother. "If you've not found any land for yourselves yet, I encourage you to reside here in the Highlands. There is plenty of food to be found in the large beasts the roam the area."
Zula would die protecting her last hatchling. Sure Zula's had quiet a few clutches by now but each hatchling always held a special spot in her heart.Tayo was no different. Not all hatchlings survive and she knew this but Tayo would she would make sure of it even if he had to go hunting with her and stay on her back most of his hatchling life. Course he was close to being considered a drake. Her tail flicked side to side as she watched the Matriach. Hell if This matriach even threatened the life of Tayo she would defend him despite the fact that she would probably loose. That is very generous of you and I think I will stay hereShe spoke calmly.
Tayo sneeze and watched this bigger female. He then decided his mother considered her safe and for practice turned and climbed up on his mothers back and jumped off. His little wings spread but all that happened was he glideda few inches away and then tumbled to the ground.
