*Humans*

A strange howling was made at the feeding gate; it came from a human. Two humans entered the enclosure and dragged in a deer carcass. The deer had been struck by a car a was taken to the Wolf Center to use as food. The humans backed off and waited at the gate to observe the wolves' behavior and note their interactions.

Dark Star

Dark Star approached carefully and began to pretend nibble. The plan was about to go into action. Anytime now Cavan and Peregrine would be here to 'Attack' him. He hoped the pack would return. He then Started to eat some for real, so it wasn't obvious he had something 'up his sleve'.

Peregrine

The alpha knew what the howl meant, but he stayed out of the humans' sights. He waited patiently for Dark Star to approach the kill and made sure the humans would see it. Then, to capture their attention, he snarled as loudly as he could and came barreling out of hiding. With his lips pulled back, hackle and tail raised, it was clear he must be furious. Peregrine would have hit him hard to make things seem more real, but he knew the wolf was already injured. So instead, Peregrine pretended to shoulder him roughly as he reached out to 'bite' the others neck. Of course he would only let his fangs dig into fur, but with all his snarling and fierce postures, he would make it look real. And to further show the humans that he had deadly intentions and rather than trying to make Dark Star submit, he thrashed his head from side to side, but again he didn't let his teeth close over any skin.

Cavan

Cavan had been informed of the plan and was quite eager to have a free life again. He was also warned of Dark Star's healing injuries. Not long after Peregrine rushed forward, Cavan came stalking out of the timber with his ears laid out at the sides in an aggressive manner. His fangs were bared as his lips writhed back. A stiff-legged walk further enhanced his upset appearance. After a moment of sizing up the 'unwanted wolf', Cavan sprang into action. With a powerful leap, the wolf landed near Dark Star and set his deadly fangs into the fur of his side. His glistening ivories came dangerously close to skin, but never caused any injury to it. He purposely went for a spot of thick fur so it wouldn't be obvious to the humans that it was a fake bite. Through his raging snarls, he spoke quickly to Dark Star, "Don't let the humans get near you; they can't find out that we aren't drawing blood or they may not take this seriously."

Dark Star

He let out a false yelp, and then thrashed carefully against peregrine. This way he could make it look even more realistic, but he made sure not to pull too hard or else peregrine would lose his grip. When cavan 'dug in' he snarled maliciously and turned around to grab hold of cavans shoulder. He bit down deep into fur, but hit no skin. He then started to pull further away from the vets, so they couldn't see them anymore, but could hear all the growling, snarling and yelping being done.

*Humans*

Their voices shouted and screamed out at the wolves, as if that would stop them from fighting. Their own vocals could hardly carry above the tumulate of the wolves'. It was obvious that this wasn't a 'rank' scuffle; this looked more like a fight to the death against Dark Star. They figured that the pack must have rejected him, so there was only one thing to do unless they wanted a dead wolf in the enclosure. Dark Star had to be removed. After scrambling for some supplies, the human vets got ready to separate the fighting wolves. A pistol was shot off in the air, hopefully to break up the 'fight' and scatter the wolves.

Two humans entered the enclosure while another stood at the partially opened gate, ready to allow a quick exit for the other two humans if they got attacked. The two humans, one carrying a long netted-pole and the other a dart gun, began to walk slowly towards the fighting. They fired a tranquilizer, hoping to his Dark Star...

Dark Star

When the pistol was fired, Dark Star pulled away from the fight, but yelped to show that it 'must' have hurt. He backed off from the human with the net, and quickly jolted to the ground when he saw the other human about to shoot the tranq. He did not feel the dart hit him, but knew they had fired something at him and figured it was the stuff that knocked wolves out. He saw the dart in the brush a foot behind him. It had missed by a hair. Perfect! The humans didn't know that yet! He spun around to a spot on his side and pretended to yank something out. It wouldn't be obvious he had faked it since it was so dark. He then rushed around the enclosure until he was out of human sight. He checked to make sure that Cavan and Peregrine were hiding in the dense brush near the gate. He would have to hope that Kana would be back in time. He then realized. The leopards! They might still be nearby and able to help. If the humans try to chase the wolves, or the plan didn't go according, they might step in and intimadate the humans. They were endangered after all. The humans wouldn't have much time at all to find out there were no marks on Dark Star since there was no well lit place nearby. At a place somewhat close to the gate, he collapsed, a small grin on his face.

Peregrine

The alpha jumped slightly at the loud sound of the pistol. He had stopped his 'attack' on Dark Star as the humans had hoped and dashed away into thick cover. Peregrine slunk around quietly until he was in a position to see the gate, but no human could see him. When they were to carry Dark Star out, he would bolt for the gate and thrash any human that tried to stop him or the others.

Cavan

Cavan had followed his alpha's lead. After being frightened by the pistol, he darted off into hiding. But instead of hiding where Peregrine was, Cavan choose a different location as close as he could get to the gate while still keeping hidden. This way, it would cause more confusion having wolves coming at different directions rather than from one.

*Humans*

The gate had been closed while they waited for the dart to take affect. They were sure they had made a hit because they saw how Dark Star reacted. Once he collapsed near the gate, the two humans hurried over and both helped to pick him up. They began to carry him to the gate, which was now opened part way to fit the two humans and Dark Star through.

Auna & Snowden

They hadn't heard the plan about escaping, but they hung around the area and searched for a way to get their friend out. Under the cover of darkness they approached the gate, but found humans there and heard fighting. They watched and thought that Dark Star had been hit by a dart; and they knew what darts did. Auna flashed her fangs in a silent display of anger. They can't do that to her friend! "Come on Snowden, we've gotta help." leading her brother, Auna slunk through the shadows until she was closer to the gate. There! It's open... except that human is in the way. she thought. "Follow my lead." Auna said to her brother as she ran towards the gate.

With her short, powerful hind legs, Auna cleared several feet of ground as she propelled her body through the air. Her claws were unsheathed and ears laid back as she prepared to land on the human's back who was guarding the door.

Snowden was larger than his sister and not so graceful. He dashed past his sister and into the enclosure. The young snowleopard was more than a match for any unarmed human at his size. With his ears laid back flat against his skull, Snowden stalked towards the humans carrying Dark Star. His mouth was open and his long fangs bared as he gave a low, rumbling growl. His kind was unable to roar, which would be more effective at intimidating the humans.

Dark Star

He waited until the humans seemed to stop and Snowden was approaching. He howled "NOW!" And leaped from the humans grasp as best as he could. He then growled quickly to snowden "Don't kill them please. It is all a plan." His growl wasn't being mean towards snowden, simply threatening to the humans. He leaped at one and waited for Cavan and Peregrine. He tried to ram the human against the wall, just hard enough to knock the human out if he hit. He then tried to grab the leg of the human and pulled him into the brush. After that he backed out of the pen to help Auna. He pushed the door open so far that it appeared to be wedged into the ground. "Auna, make sure you don't kill him. He has done his part." Dark Star then ran back in the enclosure to make sure Cavan and Peregrine got out. He knew Kana wasn't here, but figured it was best because he wanted no harm to come to her.

Peregrine

Peregrine rushed out from hiding, snarling loudly to add confusion to the already created chaos. He was a bit leary of the large cats, but knew they were friends to Dark Star; or that's what he hoped anyway. The alpha charged towards the gate and paused there, "Cavan!" he barked out, then suddenly remembered something. What about Kira, Khaos, Tiki... no, they were gone. But they lingered on his mind.

Cavan

Cavan sprung from hiding, snarling loudly as well. He gnashed his jaws at the human who Dark Star dragged into the brush, just as a warning. Then he dashed out of the gate and stood there, fur bristled uncertainly. "Lets get out of here!" he said urgently, wanting to get away from this place as fast as possible. Even though he was now free to run off on his own accord, Cavan felt security in this group.

Dark Star

He ran out of the enclosure with Cavan. As he ran, he barked "It would be wise to follow me to the packlands, we can make trails that go to dead ends and reach the den by sun-up. You can rest there until you can return...Home?" He wondered where cavan and peregrine would go, but any place would be better than this. He called to the stalking leopard in the enclosure. "Come out of there snowden! Auna, stay on the human for a second." He whirled around, he didn't want anyone following them. "This day forth we have a price on our necks, be cautious where you go." He thought about the other wolves that would soon be put in here. Is that how they would stop the population from growing? He then turned around and tried to grab the collar of the man Auna had been on, and pull him in with the other two into the enclosure. He yanked as hard on the door as he could, trying to get it unwedged and locked back in place, so they could have a head start. He then ran up to Cavan and Peregrine and spoke. "Dodge in between the dense trees to the left, and try not to howl. Snowden, you come up with me in the front, so gradually I can lead all of you to Avalanche Grove. I want you in front snowden so that you can warn us of any hard to see opstacles, because of your eyesight being a bit better than ours. Auna, since you have better eyesight as well, I want you in front of Peregrine and Cavan. Stay in the dense trees, it will keep them from chasing us on their four-wheeled things. If anything happens, do your best to call us back. NO ONE gets left behind." With that, he gave Snowden a lead and began to sprint off. After a while he would slowly lope, but wanted to get the first part of the journey over. He took them on as many false paths as he could, then headed more or less towards Avalanche Grove. He hoped the Cavan and Peregrine would come.

Snowden & Auna

Snowden had darted after the man in the brush and harassed him with mock bites and swats of his paws. He didn't let the man get up and chase the wolves. When Dark Star called, the snowleopard dashed out of the enclosure and stood waiting.

Auna at first had the intentions of killing the man; she remembered when the four humans had come and hurt her sister and used their darts to make her mother sleep for so long. But she wouldn't disobey her friend. Instead of trying to kill the man, she just bit down hard on the back of his neck and made sure he wouldn't get up. She then helped Dark Star drag the man into the enclousre before she too ran out into the open with her brother.

After hearing the orders, Snowden began heading for the Den of the Avalanche Grove pack. He glanced back often to make sure the others were behind him and he was heading the right way. He would leap long distances in the wrong direction, making his trail very difficult to follow.

Auna, being a bit smaller and more agile than her brother, would leap onto low branches that could hold her weight, then spring as far as she could to the ground. This would leave several yards of ground without a trace of her passing there.

Peregrine

Peregrine headed left and dove into cover. He waited until Auna started on her way before he followed. He would veer off to the side for a long ways until he couldn't even hear the others anymore. Then he would double back over the trail and continue on. This way, if dogs were put out to follow his tracks, they'd hit the doubled trail he had made and it would lead them to a dead end. As for covering up his tracks from the humans' eyes, he did his best to walk over fallen logs and rocks where his tracks wouldn't be seen.

Cavan

He trailed behind the others a bit and often glanced back to make sure the humans weren't following after. He too did his best to mask their trail by swinging off at quick gallops in odd directions. Their combined efforts should make their trail a muttle prints going off in all directions.
