Risen .+. Pups
The batch of the warriors pups were well old enough to start training. And Risen believed it was due time to try out Velvets idea. Of training the pups different terrains to increase the chances in fights. She had a few idea ares, Marshes, thick forests, The Canyon but she wanted Velvet by her side for more ideas in this game.
Howling out for the mothers and the pups Risen waited for them to come. The warriors were to be assembled as well, well, the ones that weren't out on their missions.
Ynear had left the basement by the time the howl was called and moved off to assemble the children. then moments later she returned with them. Runi in tow helping out.
Black Ivory stood strong as she moved to the middle and in front of the alpha. Her head was high as her chilling yellow eyes stared at the alpha's nose. She was no weakling at all and she was sure to prove it.
Owl, on the other hand, moved in timidly, low and toward what would be the back of the group. His masked face lowered in wait for his 'position'.
Dab moved in, one of the larger pups, with his brothers Fleet and Vidiv by his side. All three males looked promising. Then moved in Havik, Demolition, Violence, Tumult, Riot, and Fragile Moment. The last to come in, lead by Fragile Moment, was the handicap pup Anathema.
Risen growled when she heard Anathema's problems. She didn't want anything to do with the pup but knew the idea of 'dismissing' her would cause troubles. "She is to be a Mother." There was no second thought.
Anathema heard nothing, but she would soon understand with the pups that would someday gather around her feet.
Velvet & Others
The adolescent lioness, with her lean and foxy face, padded in with Dulsca trailing behind. The newest lion cubs - Vensaii and Ginger - weren't old enough to be a part of the ceremony yet, and so they remained behind. The rest of the coalition responded however, with the notable absence of the late Black Claw. Leopeson, Xuvan, Little Tuft, Martimorr, Leope, Chahaya, and Callholm were all present in the gathering.
Monarda, Tersek, Thunder's Call, and Lion followed suit, forming around the sidelines as the pups gathered. Dally perched himself on a pillar above the others, while Cavan took a closer place near Risen, and Nachi found a more isolated spot away from the others.
Yarrow was the only one of Chahaya's liger cubs that hadn't been stolen. Innuo had been taken by the two-legger named Greg, and Purple Haze had wondered off and gotten taken up by the hunting pack at the Breve Ridges. Of the three original cubs, Yarrow was the largest though. Though quite, she didn't show an ounce of fear or timidness as she stepped into the crowed to await Risen's orders.
Bergamot came next. He was the largest of his litter, and had a bold attitude to go with it. But despite lack of shyness, he wasn't overly dominating or arrogant. Berg was surprisingly mild-mannered.
Second largest in that litter was Dawning Eclipse, who seemed to carry the aloof persona of her mother, though there was something more feirce laying behind her light-grey eyes.
Compared to the others, Geniah was one of the smaller pups. Her metallic grey coat and yellow eyes harkened back to her grandfather. Despite her smaller frame, Geniah held herself high and didn't hesitate to throw the 'stare' at anyone who might make her angry. She would prove to be quite the little fireball.
Huerosan wieghed in with the larger pups, and had the powerful frame of a rottie.
Then there was Donte, an interesting mix of breeds. He looked all wolf, but had rather long fur and a shoter tail. His body was all ebony, save for a cream colored face that was speckled with black. He seemed more reluctant than the others, and a bit out of place. But once his initial shyness wore off, he would be revealed as a very laid-back canine.
Hector/Sekunti/Devaki/Others
Hector and Sekunti walked up to the main floor and bowed to Risen. The pups had grown much since they'd last seen their mother. Here they waited for their alpha to announce their positions.
Tamaka and Koray, and Tama, Devaki, and Estelle joined in. Although they were just allies to the Haunters and not actual members, they knew they could get something out of this training. After all, they'd need to learn how to fight alongside their allies.
Litharaz & Others
Litharaz also responded, taking a place in the circle around the pups.
Onslaught, after having a heated conversation with Vicious, padded towards his coalition brothers, growing under his breath.
Ardeth and Kamari were now old enough to train, and so they approached Risen, each standing in a way that showed they were confident, but not arrogant. Yet.
Risen
She knew what she wanted. The five elements for this season were simple. Water; Dense Forest; Marshes; Cliffs; and Meadows. "Do you think there should be more for the summer group?" She turned inquiringly to both Cavan and Velvet after listing the elements of choice.
"For right now every element will share training tactics. Of all the training tactics, the loser will not get a meal for the day. Of course each lesson will last for that day. Here is what I have so far:
Races: As simple as it sounds, an extended race through out the day. Endurance. Race from one end to the finish. Since there will be two trainers per group One will wait at the finish, the other will stay with the last behind to make sure the pups stay safe.
Mock Battles:Another simple. Have a day in the week dedicated souly to having the battle each other to increase their fighting skills. They will be closely monitored by the trainers so that fights do not get out of hand. They are to be friendly practice battles.
Hunting: This includes all areas, the water will be specifically fishing. Although the trainers can go off and hunt normal for for relief from a fishy taste. In the marsh, forest, and meadow the main training here will be stalking, of course. Cliffs will be both for stalking and balance.
Hide and Seek: Be it a child's game, it will increase their skill in both stalking and and sensing. Those who are 'it' will learn intensively to listen for any sound that could reveal a hiding spot, while those hiding will learn how to stay silent for both ambush and self protection.
Tag: Another child's game that is essential. Skills to avoid and dodge attacks as well as to increase durability in fights.
Remember these will be all day periods so even the games will lose their sense of 'fun' after a while. As well as, the loser of the game gets no meal.
Steal the Meal: An interactive practice between both pups and trainers. Yet this one deals with, only the winners are allowed to eat that day. The trainers will each have a kill, most likely a rabbit or other small mammal. The trainers will try and keep the food away from the children as long as possible. But since this is timed it will go beyond the trainers. If the children successfully steal the meal; there is still a chance the others can steal it from them. When time is up the ones who have the meals are the ones who get to eat for the day.
Every other week will be trained at night. Sleep in the day. This is to teach them how to handle the darkness and fighting in it. They will spend four months with each of the trainers. Only to return if they are truly needed. I will keep the messenger birds out and in contact with the leaders, but other than that they will be isolated from each other.
Training will not stop for rain." She gave a good short pause. Trying to let that one settle in then wrapped up the extended thought.
"Marshes and Meadow have nothing special that I can think of to work on. But for the other three there will be special training.
Water: They will spend a day collecting rocks from the bottom of the shallows to increase their breath strength and water tolerance. The one with the smallest pile will be the one who doesn't eat for the day.
Forest: King of the log; This will teach the cubs to keep their balance on logs or branches; it will progress to small trees and climbing lessons on low branches.
Cliffs: Ledge hoping. As simple as it sound, though it will start off near the ground and then get higher into the air, but not lethally so. Hope across rocks, ledges, anything to encourage them to get comfortable with the steepness of their environment."
She paused for a moment, wondering what the other two thought. It was obvious she was actually open to suggestions, though she would not be afraid to shoot them down.
Velvet & Others
Cavan dipped his muzzle in a faint nod, "Sounds good to me." Well, he wasn't big on coming up with detailed plans. His major concern was for being sure that the training groups didn't get ambushed during thier time from the Temple. "We could do for some more messenger birds, though."
"That is a wonderful plan, Risen." Velvet responded, turning her slanted chestnut eyes to her leader, "The new Warriors will undoubtedly benifit from it, and prove all the more devestating to our enemies in battle." The true loyalist, praising her leader with sincere words. "If I may suggested, the mock battles be not only one species against one species, but that they practice against different types. Canine against feline, for example. Or train in groups to learn the value of teamwork."
Huerosan's eyes grew wide as he listened to what his leader was suggesting. It sounded fun and exciting, but also like a lot of work. Lowering his voice to a whisper, the big pup leaned towards Violence, "Geez, this sounds a bit..."
Cavan snarled suddenly, standing up, "Quiet! Don't interrupt your superiors!"
Ears went back instantly as Huerosan ducked his head down.
Misery, Omen, Notorious, & Kaos
The three pups had just been able to make it as the, what sounded like simple 'games' to them, had been announced. Of course, they knew this was more than that, only some had different thoughts.
The two brothers, Omen and Notorious stalked in, auds going between pricked and planed out as they approached. They both had a smirk on their maws, eager to begin everything. Each had big ideas for themselves, wanting to prove to everyone that they could and perhaps would be the greatest.
However, some still liked to dream. Misery followed after her brothers, tail hanging behind her and easily swaying as she walked. She wasn't so sure of herself, and didn't dare speak. She could feel a bit of tension from her brothers, giving her an uneasy feelng in return. However, she readily took her spot next to her larger brothers to listen, and see what played out. So there they all sat, waiting.
Risen
She nodded to Velvet "There is a feline in every group, however the canines in the groups do outnumber their feline counterparts. I would like a feline teacher in every group to give their own two cents worth in every lesson." Turning to the group of new warriors she announced out.
"we have two groups made and ready to go. We need three more teachers, preferably feline, for the last three.
The groups that are established are as followed.
Forest Division:
Mentors: Callholm and Wither.
Students: Demolition; Havik; Hector; Estelle"
Demolition smiled at this, though Havik had an uneasy look on his face. Wither had long since came inside and had been watching, although somewhat injured, she was relieved to be dismissed from her working duties to train the pups.
"The next group:
The Meadow Division:
Mentors: Tersek and Rasheetah
Students: Violence; Dawning Eclipse; Koray; Notorious"
Violence had listened to Hue before listening back up to the alpha, nodding to his brother in agreement until he heard the names of those who were teaching him. "Ouch." He muttered under his breath. By the looks of both teachers, this was going to be six month's of utter hell.
"You know what." Started off the alpha.
"The third Division will be as follows.
The Water Divison:
Mentors: Villain; Orinoco
Students: Riot; Vidiv; Huerosan; Devaki" She smirked.
"Alright!" Exclaimed Riot under her voice. Villain had always struck her as a 'fun' teacher. She didn't know much of Orinoco, but just the thought of learning how to fight in water sounded exciting.
Rasheetah
Moving in stealthily, Rasheetah moved around the group and to the deeper part of the Temple. Just up beside the stage that Risen had planted herself on. Her eyes flashed back to the two new members-to-be before flicking back up to the tiny alpha. "They are placing the pups into their division for training. "She pointed to the group of mother "That is the mothers group. The ones who raise the children." Ynear was laying down with her head up and pride filled eyes. Rasheetah pointed up to a portion of the warriors. "That is some of the warriors, others are probably out either fighting, or resting." Razor's head twitched to the two. Looking uncertain to them before looking back to Risen and Cavan at the head of the group. "I'm not sure where the Healers have gone." She couldn't spy the little montjac anywhere.
Alderon snorted from his corner. Yzunala was standing beside him, her tiny tail flicking as she nuzzled against her adopted brother. She, too, watched the ceremony but was way to young to take part in it at all.
"We will speak with Risen when they are through." She said.
Enshalla
Enshalla stopped by the door and listened to Risen speak. After she was finished, she stepped inside and bowed to the alpha of the Shadow Haunters. "I have come to volunteer as a teacher." She said calmly, taking a seat on the ground. "Perhaps I would be of some help in the Cliff Division."
Risen
Risen's head lifted as she spied Rasheetah coming in with two unknown faces in tow. Her cold eyes stared at them for a moment before turning to Enshalla. There was a flash of praise in her eyes and she bowed to the ally. "You're contribution is well appreciated Lady Enshalla.
This completes a fourth Division.
The Cliff Division.
Mentors: Razor and Enshalla.
Students: Black Ivory; Bergamot; Yarrow; Omen." Her eyes searched around, just one more teacher was needed for the Marsh terrain.
Black Ivory's tail began to wag as her name was announced. She smiled and turned to her brother Hector. "Too bad we aren't in the same division. But I'll show you what I learn when we're done." She smiled. Although her exterior was calm, her stomach was aching with anticipation. She wondered what it would be like to stay away from her siblings for so long.
Razor's eyes lifted as he heard his name and he gave a nod to his alpha.
Samara
She hadn't been here long but she would help. She was Rajsa's sister. She approached the group. The siberian tiger sat down.I will help if you need itShe spoke
Risen
Her head lifted up to the strangers voice. Eyes narrowing lightly but she tried not to seem 'rude' "As much as I appreciate your offer stranger. I'm not so sure I can trust you. I know not even your name. What relation do you have with the Haunters?" She asked, making sure to keep the pups safe. This creature could be from the other side wanting to steal them, it was not an option she was about to let her have. Though having the tiger as an ally would be great. Risen remained cautious.
Samara
she did not let that faze her one bit.I came here a month ago with some other animals. My Name Is Samara. I also would do good in your pack. I have recently over heard others talking about the traitor Rajsa? I am her slightly older sister. I do not like her. I am her arch enemy. If you want to call it that.I do not pose any harm. I wouldn't dare harm a pup or cub or young one.
Rasheetah .+. Risen
The alpha raised an invisible brow at the comment of the tiger being there for a while. "Ghoul was the one who greeted the group Lady." Spoke up Rasheetah from the side lines. She had seen the group and knew that Risen had not been formally introduced to the group.
"Awe" Risen stated before turning her attention back to the tiger. "Has it already been a month? I guess it has. My apologies, Samara. You say you are against Traitor Rajsa, Then you may fit well into this pack. Alright.
The final division is as follows.
The Marsh Division
Mentors: Silver Trace and Samara
Students: Dab; Fleet; Tamaka; Ardeth."
In came Silver Trace with shattered atop her back. Crying out to Quil. "She can't breath. She was kicked by a horse." Risen growled as Fawn, the dingo mix, moved up to relieve the new teacher from the injured on. Taking her upstairs for medical attention by the healers group. "Owl." Risen said to the young Healer. The pup looked up then nodded and followed after Fawn up the stairs.
"Silver, you are dismissed from being a warrior for the moment. You and Samara are to take the pups and train them in the marshes. Understood?" Silver nodded then nodded in greeting to the siberian tiger.
"Round up your groups and go." Barked the leader in dismissal.
Silver nodded then gave a nod to Samara before gathering her 'division' of pups and heading to Galar's marsh. Of course, the area where Galar was and not where Kalaber held his pack.
Razor stood and called out to the pups that were meant to follow him and Enshalla. As they gathered he headed out to the Canyon.
Wither barked up for the others to follow them into the Spinulose Bog. The forest area, not the bog itself.
Rasheetah shifted uneasily before calling up to the wolf. "Risen, these two wish to become members." Risen looked over to them and then moved closer to them as Rasheetah dismissed herself and gathered up the specified pups and headed out to the Tall Grass Prairie.
Villain was currently absent. The pups would have to wait.
Risen stalked ever closer to the two. Raising her head and tail as high as they would go. "Welcome," The scent of Vestiges pack soon hit her nose and her maw curled back. "Why do you smell like bastard?" She groaned out.
Samara
she dipped her dial.It is quiet okay. The others in gthe group are around. Theres a large mix. including a grizzly and three polars though two are babys. She spoke. She then called for the young ones. she did not know them so she just called their names.
Taini
Taini mentally flinched at the sight and smell of Risen, but she kept it out of her body, off of her face. It wouldn't do... instead she put her own soft snarl to the air as Risen obviously connected them with Vestige. We smell of bastard because for nigh unto two years we have been imprisoned in that place, forced to watch as our friends and siblings were sacrificed by my mother and that... that creature. She paused a moment, breathing rhythmically to restore her calm. My mate Stealth and I seek shelter from their barbaric ways, and what better place to come that here, where all of you hate them as much as we do?
Stealth
Stealth bared his teeth when Risen spoke of Vestige. He looked at Taini as she spoke, then those brown eyes of his were back on Risen. He had never seen her before, so his performance was quite convincing. "I'm sure we would be dead if we stayed there any longer." He added with a nod.
Risen
She caught it, that tiny flicker in Taini's eyes. Risen was a well known epic liar, why couldn't she point out one just the same. Even though it always could be a flicker at the sheer power she held over animals more than ten times her own size.
There was a spark in the alpha's eyes as Taini spoke of Vestige in such a demeaning. "He didn't strike me as the type to make sacrifices of other's lives. Although I would not put it past him." She concentrated on Stealth for a moment as he spoke. "I'm sorry to hear such horrible things. " Though sadness was evidently not apparent on her face. "Your judgment does not fail you when you came to us first. However, I must say that judgment upon you will be a little harder. Especially since you came from such a tainted pack." Was it provocation that Risen was trying to use?
"I do not trust either of you well enough to be Mothers, I definitely do not trust you well enough to be Healers. Nor well enough to be..." She paused for a moment and with a deadly look, did she smile. "You know what. I have an idea. You will be a Mother. You will be protected, you will never have to see the darkness of the battle field. After a month of testing that water, you can decide whether you want to be a Warrior or not. As for Stealth: I would like for you to help Orinoco and Villain train pups at the lake. Does this sound fair?" She was silent now, watching every inch of their body for discomfort. But even if she saw the flinches, she would not show, in anyway, that she caught them.
"That doth remind me." She said, playing with the old language. "Our mothers are low on pups." She smiled then barked to Ynear.
A thin black wolf picked herself off the ground and made her way over to the two. Bowing with deep respect to all three of them. "Yes Mistress?" Risen looked to the wolf. "This is... um..." She paused for a moment. "Excuse me dear, what did you say your name was?" She left a pause for the wolf female to say her name.
Ynear was patient, she had not the look of a dark and sinister creature across her. In fact she was well respected for what she believed as kindness. Naive, but kind none-the-less. She held a smile, and a friendly wag of her bushy black tail.
Taini
She remained completely calm as Risen studied her, but no smile creased her face. She knew, as sure as she'd been born, that Risen had caught the blink in her eye, the one place she hadn't trained so carefully.
But she, too, let no indication of this realization become obvious, instead nodding as Risen explained what they would do. Yes, I understand fully. Your decision is quite fair. And there was no flinching, for this was a task that actually pleased Taini, who'd often spent time romping around with the pups back home, as though no more than that age herself.
Her eyes fell on Ynear as the wolf presented herself, and the corner of her mouth lifted for just a moment in what might have been a smile. Taini. I am called Taini.
