Blackmist

Water had darkened Blackmist's pale coat, and left a trail of droplets as she traveled from the moat to the Temple. She welcomed the wetness, as much for its cooling relief from the summer heat as for its welcoming embrace. The swim through the moat meant that she was home, and safe from the snarling faces of the Lurkers she and Quinn had left behind in the Alleys.

'Had either of us shown a fang or spoken with aggression... we wouldn't have made it back.' The somber thought traveled through her mind, and she wondered what would have happened if someone like Tersek had gone. Her grandfather would have certainly been slain. Shaking those thoughts from her head, the wolfdog gave a short howl, calling for her leaders so that she and Quinn could report on their mission.
