Kihaku

She'd completely missed the transfer that had been made of pups between the basement and the water-bound secondary nursery. Of course, she'd been a bit occupied at the time... but still Kihaku felt the bite of shame as she slowly moved down the stairs and stepped down into the water. She swam with an erratic pace the river that had once frightened her so badly, coming up less-than-smoothly at the platform and not even bothering to shake herself dry.

In typical Kihaku fashion, she volunteered her company to no one, curling up in one corner of the platform and resting her head delicately on her wet paws. There was nothing particularly strange about this; Kihaku wasn't a socialite. But her self-enforced silence held something else to it now; something soft and silent, and infinitely darker and sadder than anything that it had yet encompassed.
