Silver Fyre & Caritha
Silver's eyes shifted in the darkness. Her brows were tense and her mind racing. She enjoyed her life here amongst the Haunters, she truly did. And she loved Aizen, with all of her heart. But that heart was torn by her fear for Cynical's future, even though she had Aizen's assurance that all would be okay with their daughter. Her mind kept going back to Momo and Ursa, and to the unsolved deaths of Duality and Narimbi.
"Good morning, my sweet one." Silver Fyre was drawn from her thoughts by the squirming of Caritha, who stirred and stretched at her side, waking from a short nap.
"Morning mama." The youngster yawned back, then rolled to her paws and stood up. "Can we go outside today?"
Guilt stung the mother, but in that moment, it also nudged her indecision a notch towards a fateful choice. Masking her worry, Silver smiled and pulled herself up, "Yes, we can go outside." She licked the top of Caritha's head, then offered the same to Cynical. She'd delayed bringing them out for the others to see, but she could hardly keep them down in the basement any longer. It was now or never.
As Caritha yipped and skittered towards the steps she'd been eying for the past few weeks, she found her haunches caught securely in the jaws of her mother, and was dragged back. "Not so fast, my dear. It can be dangerous up there, so you must stay by me. We're going to go on an adventure first, okay?"
Caritha bounced excitedly, completely ignoring the 'danger' aspect. Nor did she catch the worry that broke through her dam's calm facade. "An adventure? I can't wait!"
Silver looked towards the stone steps, "Just remember, stay by me." She reached down and grabbed Cynical by the scruff, and with a deep, heavy breath, made her way out of the dark confines of the pack's whelping room. Caritha bounced after her.
