Aizen & Ursa

He lead the way to the tmeple and then down to the basement.

Ursa was asleep

Quilikham & Blackmist

Quilikham had mixed feelings stepping her tiny hooves back into these old stomping grounds. Life had been easier in some regards while living here, but war and shifting politics had heightened her anxiety, and she was anxious to learn who was in charge and what their current policies were. Putting those questions aside for a later date, the little muntjac scurried after Aizen and filed into the basement.

Where Nightshade left them once they reached the Temple, knowing he had no permission to enter the Basement, Blackmist was already down in the dark recesses of the building, curled up against Ursa after taking charge from Sunburst. Her dark yellow eyes lit up at the sight of her friend and the small deer, whom she assumed must be Quilikham. "Thank Imre you made it. She's... not well, but she's still alive." Blackmist informed, standing carefully and stepping away from the emaciated form of Ursa.

Quilikham showed no hesitation as she darted forward, her black nose twitching as she sniffed over and prodded the ailing wolf. "First things first, she needs nutrients and hydration. I need one of you to get moisture - moss soaked in water would be easiest to find, but if you can steal fruits from the human's village, those would be even better. Watermelons particularly." The munjact continued her study of Ursa, now looking for any obvious injuries or signs of illness she could diagnose. "The fresh bones of some large prey; deer, cattle, pig - any of those would be good. She needs the marrow in the larger bones."

Aizen

He went to his sister and gently nuzzled her. He hoped Quil could safe her. Blackmist can you and few others handle that?he didn't want to leave his sisters side.

Ursa opened her eyes weakly but didn't move.

Quilikham & Others

Black nodded, "I'll gather a few others." She paused briefly beside Aizen, giving him a nuzzle along the shoulder as she whisper, "We wont let her die. She's a fighter... she's made it this far, and that's a testament to her strong spirit." With a second nuzzle, she turned away and loped quickly out of the Basement, heading for the outside of the Temple.

"Can you hear me?" Quilikham spoke once she saw the wolf's eyes open. "Don't try to move, you need to conserve your strength." She continued to nose about the canine, her tiny black nose sorting through the matted fur and seeking out any wounds Ursa might have. "Can you tell me if anything hurts?"

It was several minutes later when the soft thud of paws announced the arrival of another wolf. Moving quickly, Geinah entered the cool, dark depths of the expansive chamber and approached the trio. Scooting up beside Aizen and Ursa, her yellow eyes briefly studying the muntjac, Geinah set down a mouthful of spongy moss that was dripping with water. "Blackmist said you needed this?"

Quil darted forward, plucking up the soggy ball of moss and dropping it against Ursa's muzzle. "Open your mouth, and chew on this. It'll help quench your thirst somewhat until we can get you more water." The small deer looked expectantly up at the aging, metallic-gray wolf, "Once she's squeeze all the water from that, she'll need more. It'll take many trips."

Ursa

Due to her matts she had a few wounds under them from them pulling on her skin and she yelped at at least five different spots, or what could be thought of as a yelp. She took the moss in her mouth and did as she was told.

Aizen watched his sister wincing at the slight yelps.

Quilikakm & Others

"Aizen, I'll need your help here." Quilikhm barked softly, big eyes flicking up at the canine before darting back down to her patient. "I need you to help me chew away these mats. We need to get rid of this tangled fur so I can better access the wounds. She will need plenty of grooming, too - dirty fur simply wont do." The deer flitted around like a tiny shadow, carefully inspecting one wound and then another, pressing her nose here and there. "Aizen, start on this mat."

Meanhwile, Geinah had brought back another mouthful of spongy moss, having found a good patch of it formed outside against the stones. And while she was dropping these off, Zanarah was bringing in the fractured leg bone of a deer she had killed a day earlier. She paused mid-stride at the sight of the muntjac, having never seen such a tiny cervid before, nor one with tusks. After a startled second-take, the feline continued forward and set the femur down beside Ursa. "You must be Quilikahm?"

"Yes." Unlike the hybrid cat, Quil didn't falter in her work, barely glancing in the cat's direction as she nudged about the broken femur. Without so much as a grimace for dealing with the remains of her own kind, the diminutive deer dragged the broken bone in front of Ursa's nose. "Here, give me that moss, and try to lick this up. The marrow will do you good."

Aizen

He moved to hte mat and lied down chewing on the fur occasionally pulling away and shaking his head to get it out of his mouth.

Ursa took the spongy moss and again chew it to get the water. She whined a little as aizen began to chew at the matts. She lapped at the marrow.

Quilikakm & Others

Quilikhm took a step back and watched Ursa lap at the marrow. "Geinah, I'll need to you keep up with that moss. Between eating, she'll need to be drinking, water is vital for her."

Geinah nodded and padded forward to sit beside the ailing Haunter. Whenever Ursa was done eating, she would take the old moss ball and replace it with a freshly soaked one, and continue this until Ursa's thirst and hunger had been sated.

"Cat, what's your name? We'll need a fresh supply of those bones, at least for the next two days. Organ meats will be needed as soon as she's strong enough to lift her head and eat more confidently. Healthy organ meats." Quilikhm was circling around the small group now, again barely lifting her head to address the creature's gathered, other than a quick glance to the feline when she answered with a careful, "Zanarah. And I can handle that."

The little deer moved towards the stairs, but paused to offer further instructions before she left, "I need to gather what herbs I can find - it's a bit difficult now in the fall, so it may take time. For now, keep grooming her and keep up with the feeding. I'll be back as soon as I can manage."

Aizen

Aizen was a bit suprised that the little deer didn't seem to have issues with saying to get meat for her, given its what she needed but even so. He kept grooming her.

Ursa kept at the marrow and moss.

Quilikahm

It had taken Quilikahm several hours to gather the necessary herbs, and even then she couldn't find all that she needed. Most plants had shed their leaves upon winter's approach, and what flowers there had been were little more than darkened seedheads picked over by the birds. Still, she found a few hardy green leaves defiantly braving the cold weather, and roots were at least were still plentiful in these times. Using her hooves, she'd mashed a concoction of plant matter into various poultices and smeared these slimy creations over Ursa's wounds after Aizen and Geinah had finished grooming her. Then it was strict rest for the wolf whose life was hanging by the balance.
