Holly was not one to travel in to the dump and places like that very often. Sure, she was a friend to humans, but she was still a wild dog, she did not want to risk being captured and forced to be some one's house pet because this just would not work for her lifestyle. Though, food was somewhat scarce with the strange sickness going around so it was time for desperate measures. So, she lead the way to the place where the humans dumped all of their trash. Her young son walked along behind her, walking a little different than most due to missing one hind leg from birth. Though, it did not really faze him too much.
When the two of them reached the dump, Holly sniffed around for something that smelled like it might be food. She found a scent and tore open the bag to find a half eaten cheese burger that she offered to her son as she went back to searching while he ate the food that she had given him...
Bullet
While word spread that there was trouble stirring between the Haunters and some new group, and a strange illness was slowly creeping across the Valley, the Lurkers remained more or less safe and secure in their little niche in the human world. Things had been fairly quiet for them lately, and on this particular day, Bullet had set out from the Aegis Den to do a bit of food-scrounging. Not that he wasn't a good hunter - he did enjoy a good hunt now and then, but he'd also became very street smart and knew all the best places to get some grub in the city. Keeping a low profile, not bothering the humans, and picking the quieter times of the day when their were less two-leggers shuffling about was prime scavenging time.
The big wolven hybrid, with his grizzled coat of grays, browns, and blacks, moved carefully through the piles of litter, letting his nose guide him along. Here and there, he'd find a tid-bit of food, and as he moved along snapping up a bit of stale bread or a scrap of old meat, Bullet eventually caught sight of an unfamiliar canine and another three-legged fellow. Being one of the friendlier, more open members of the Lurker's pack, Bullet gave a woof to catch her attention, and held his tail and body in a lax position to show that he meant no harm.

Holly was not having much luck finding too many good scraps for her son or for herself. Sure, she found a few small things here and there but that was nothing compared to what you could find when out hunting... But that was not the safest bet right now and she did not want to travel into the places where the diseases were running rampant, especially with her young son in tow. So, this would have to do for now. As she continued to dig she finally found something of worth, an old ham bone that still had some meat on it...
Well, by now her son was pretty well full, so Holly would be keeping this morsel for herself. As she picked it up out of the bag and turned to walk towards her son with it in her powerful jaws she heard a woof and immediately her fur bristled. It was just a protective reaction, and as she looked and saw the other canine in his neutral posture, the fur along her spine began to lay down, though she was still on edge. Though, her son showed no fear. He bounded up to the other canine and spoke. Hi, I'm Guess and thats my mom. He did not introduce his mother by name, but how many young pups would?
At this Holly was quickly at her son's side, ready to protect him if needed. Though, when this other canine made no movement to attack him she decided to speak on her own behalf. I am Holly... Do you need something? She was not sure whether he wanted something or just some company but she wanted to find out as soon as she could. The ham bone she had found lay in between her front paws so that it could not easily be stolen and she kept a close eye on her son as she waited...
Bullet
As the wind shifted and brought more scents to him, Bullet was able to decipher that the young male traveling with Holly was a close relative, and by the looks of it, he was placing a bet on him being the female's son. That bit of information told him to be careful, because he knew just how defensive some mothers could be, and could imagine that being approached by some big, unknown male might be seen as a potential threat. And that's exactly how Holly responded to him, with a brief flare of her fur. To let her know that he absolutely meant not harm, the hybrid dropped his head down by a few inches and made sure not to be too direct with his eyes, lest it be seen as a challenge.
"Well hello, Guess." The youngster's bold, carefree behavior reminded Bullet of his own children when they were younger, and even himself when he was a pup. With a smile and a chuckle, he politely returned his own name, and for once, left off the part of which pack he belonged to, and who his leaders were. "I'm Bullet." Next his feral eyes flicked up to Holly, looking at her just as she was giving her own name and moving forward in the protective need to be near her son in case things got dangerous. "It's nice to meet you both." At about this time, he would have usually asked them if they were in a pack or not, what they were doing in the area, and general questions like that to determine whether or not they were a threat to his own pack. But he was more in the mood for casual conversation this time, and besides, he couldn't pick up any pack scent on these two, suggesting that they were most likely loners. "If you're hungry, I can show you some good spots to find some decent food."
