Onok
If one were to watch the low ridge where Onok was cresting, they'd see a rugged, broadly built stallion of a deep, chocolately hue and a curiously short, upright mane that few of his kind possessed. As he topped and then began to descend that ridge, the deep brown of his coat would give way abruptly to stark white on his backside, ending in a flowing white tail and a handleful of stripes decorating his hind limbs.
Onok continued down the incline, pushing through branches and undergrowth until his heavy hooves sunk into loamy and he found himself looking over the beach.
'Perfect.'
The draft mixed reared back and pumped his front limbs in the air, then landed them with a heavy thud. He followed this up with a hearty roar, trumpting his dominance across the land and claiming the SunSet Beach as his own.
Lore The scream of the stallion came as a shock to Lore. He hadn't seen horses this far to the south, and especially not on their side of the rugged mountain range. The silvered brute raised his muzzle high and answered back with a powerful howl to warn Onok of his transgression and to summon his packmates just in case this horse refused to back down quietly.
Onok
The howl was heard loud and clear. And it didn't deter the young stallion in the slightest. No, it only worked to enrage the beast and he trumpeted back in angry defiance, "This is my land, wolf! I will suffer no flesh-eaters in my realm." He thundered forward, blazing across the soft earth in the direction of Lore's call, until he came across the foul lupine.
He didn't slow down. Lowering his head and pinning back his thorns, Onok charged head-long towards Lore, fully intent on crushing him into the earth if he didn't move.
Lore
Lore was not prepared for strength of Onok's hooves. The silver wolf watched the stallion charge, and had every intention of calling his bluff and delivering a smarting bite to the beast's soft mug to warn him off. But Onok wasn't bluffing, and by the time Lore realized this, he had little room to maneuver. If he'd been a few years younger, maybe he could have pulled off the quick turn and leap he'd attempted, but age had crept up on the alpha, and he was a second too slow to fully clear the stallion's thrashing flints.
A yelp rang out and Lore hit the ground hard and he rolled, half on purpose, and half by sheer momentum from Onok's strike. Another yelp escaped Lore's whitened mug when he tried to pick himself up and found his hind limb to be only partially cooperative. Realizing very quickly that he was outmatched by this tank of a creature, Lore scrambled further away from Onok on three good legs, "Enough, okay?" He turned, fur bristling in indignant anger, "I concede, stallion. You win. You can stay here, and my pack will not harass you and yours."
Onok
A fiery snort was blown from his flared nostrils. An indignant glare came to his eyes and he smashed a hoof into the ground with force, "And have a pack of bloodthirty wolves living on my land, among my mares and foals? I think not." Onok reared and sliced at the air with his front limbs before thundering forward again with a lowered head and bared ivories, ready to grab at Lore and give him a solid thrashing if he wasn't smart enough to flee his wrath.
Lore
Lore cursed under his breath, the hasty word coming out in a muffled yelp as he flung himself out of Onok's rampaging charge and left the horse with a clump of silver fur between his teeth. His wounded leg very nearly buckled under the strain of his movements, but thankfully managed to carry him to safety a dozen yards from the stallion.
For a moment he wavered, panting and calculating his options. The scent of his packmates were not on the wind, nor had he heard their cries in recent times. He could call to them, but by the time they rallied at his location, he'd be little more than paste beneath Onok's hooves. Huffing in frustration, Lore turned tail and fled from the land... for now.
