Moonlit Moor & Firah

Moonlit pawed at the snow beneath her hooves, scooping back the crusted blanket of white to reveal a few shoots of green grass just beginning to awaken from their months long slumber. The mare lowered her smokey gray dial and lipped the tender shoots, reveling in the taste. After a winter of feeding of dried, dormant grasses and tough barks and twigs, a source of fresh food was greatly welcomed. A few more swipes of her hoof uncovered a second small patch, but Moonlit didn't eat these just yet. Instead, the mare lifted her head and nickered, "Firah, come here darling."

The chestnut-hued yearling came trotting over, ears perked in curiosity. "What'd you find?"

Moonlight stepped back and nodded, "The first new grass of the season, just for you." As Firah gleefully moved in to nibble at the scant few leaves, Moonlit reached reached out to give her child an affectionate nudge.
