Karai
Can't you see the silver river?
A silver river of life
Cut through by those who no longer care, no longer remember...
I remember... I was there.
As time has gone, all have faded,
And now I am all that is left.
Star-dusted vixen carried heavy peds across the borders, eyes aimlessly wandering, searching for the familiar shape of her former alphess and dearest friend. She had to go help Kali find the light. But first...
I am the silver river.
I will always remember...
Moon Spirit
Moon Spirit heard another pass the borders and the heart broken mother left her mates side to find Karai. Who better then Karai? A weep of happiness escaped her as she rushed to her best friends side. She pressed her face to her friends shoulder and said quietly "Abamacho is gone. He...He went to find a pack to rule on his own and he has suceeded. I do not know where though and I wish to not find out for if I did know I would try and bring him back like a true mother would." She pulled away and looked into Karais eyes sadness killing her slowly but she was pulling through. Maybe Azul and her could have more pups, another litter, and maybe she could try again to not create another Abamacho, another Aaka. Thinking of Aaka....
"Did you know that my sister has pups of her own now? She has seven of them I believe. None of them have come to see me though as neither has my sister." She was not calling her sister ungrateful but it saddened her that Aaka had not brought her nieces and nephews to visit her.
The Moon Casts its Shadows upon the Land
A warmth Etherreal glow
We bask in its light
and Wish how the times will pass
Never again to see the light of day
We dance in the soft moon light
Karai
Karai hugged her friend tight in the way of wolves and sighed. Yes, all these I have heard. That is why I came to see you. To see... if you were going to be alright. And she paused. And also... because Kali has turned to live with White Noise. She said the statement bluntly, but the flinch showed how much it hurt her. It seemed that both of their lives were in ruins lately.
Moon Spirit
"Oh baby I am sorry. But White Noise is Ok. I've only met him once but hes not that bad or dark. Well not anymore anyways." She smiled at her friend trying to be as warm and loving as possible but still the smile didnt quite reach her eyes. She seemed saddened for her friend and for her own loss but now wasnt the time to think about her. Karai was hurt, Kali had been like a pup to her and this Moon Spirit knew.
Sometimes we Wish For a Time That Didnt Exist
Karai
She shook her head, smiling softly at Moon Spirit. There now you don't have to be all strong for me, Spirit. I've had worse problems. The issue here is... whether or not I should go after her. Eytan seems to think I should. But... I promised. I promised Kali I wouldn't interfere this time. I just don't know. I don't want her to get hurt and I don't want to hurt her by holding her back. That's all. And she smiled quietly again. We're a real mess, aren't we, my friend?
Moon Spirit
She nodded at her old friends problem and said in her soft autumn wind voice "If you promised someone Karai you must keep that promise." She thought of her promise to Aaka and she pushed the thought away, a dark look entering her eyes. Ok so she wasnt being as truthful as she should. But Moon Spirit knew that if Kali got any angrier things would go very wrong indeed. "You dont have to interfere. You can just go see her. Go see how she is doing and how she is making it."
Azul
the warrior had rested and he joined his mate for a moment.
I am going to get us some food when I get back we can eat.
Karai
Karai nodded, smiling just a tad. She had promised Kali she would not interfere, but she had NOT promised she would not visit. As long as she did not try to sway Kali in any way, it was not breaking her promise. As always, my friend, you are wise beyond my expectations. Perhaps, together, the two of us can find a way through this mess. And she smiled at Azul, taking a small bow. She was no longer under his authority, but it was an old habit that would die a hard death. Hello, Azul. Nice to see you again.
Azul
he had kiled Karai to bad she had left she seemed to help hold his love together.
Welcome Karai I'm sorry to break in I know almost everyone here is hungry would you join us?
Karai
Karai nodded, smiling softly still, trying to create a positive, strong image. Yes, that would be wonderful, Azul. It has been so long since I dined among friends. Shall I go with you? Or wait here? She thought she knew what his answer might be, but she offered anyway, that unreadable, soft-smiling mask on her face.
Aaka
The white alphess rushed in as quickly as she could skidding to a halt in front of Moon Spirit her eyes wild. They were missing. All of them. She looked around quickly not seeing them when suddenly she exploded "WHERE ARE MY PUPS!?" It was clear the alphess was angry with worry and fear driven. She had been luring the king hounds away from her pack and when she had gone back to her own lands, her pups were gone. She couldnt find them anywhere. She whimpered once and looked all around seeking every nook and cranny with her eyes, but the scent of her pups was not here. She had no idea that they were down town, and that one of them was dead.
Azul
The brute rose as Aaka entered she had cause them all a great deal of pain but they were only pups glaring at Aaka he thought of his Moon Spirit the pain she felt when she lost their son.
Go home Aaka stay there I will fetch them.
What she didn't know when he said stay there he ment stay away from them this pack was going into seclusion
Karai
The steely faerie's eyes grew wide and Aaka's sudden entrance, and her heart ached as an explanation was given. Oh, Aaka... She had no particular love for Aaka, but Moon Spirit loved her, and so that was enough. And plus it was the pups that were in danger. Azul will take care of it, Aaka. He will find your pups. And she eyed Moon Spirit carefully.
Karai knew of Aaka's last batch of pups from Angel's Sin, and almost all of her version of the whole story. She knew about Shadow. She knew that if the pups died, Aaka could very well lose herself: mind, spirit, everything. But she didn't say anything, still keeping her face unreadable, knowing that it would only anger the mother. There was no sense in making her angry...
Moon Spirit
She to eyed Aaka and she said softly "I do not know where they are Aaka. Go home. Maybe they are there." HEr gaze was cold but sadness lurked in her eyes. She hadnt even seen her nieces and nephews yet. A soft growl came from her and she said softly "Go Aaka." It was odd to see the kind hearted wolfess acting so cold towards her sister. IT was odd seeing the wolfess acting cold for that matter. But she couldnt take it any more. With Aaka's abuse and Abamachos disappearence it was all to much.
Karai
Karai kept her astonishment carefully hidden, watching the sisters. Moon Spirit was NOT a cold wolfess. Aaka had always been her soft spot, the one person she could deny nothing. If Moon Spirit was behaving this way, then something was wrong. She backed to stand next to her friend, leaving just enough room between them to maneuver if Aaka got ugly, but not falling into a battle stance yet. She would do no harm if Aaka did no harm, but nothing wrong with being prepared. Her voice was softer still as she said, Aaka, I really think you should return home. Azul will find your pups if he can, and there is nothing more we can do. Please... go.
Aaka
She snarled so deeply that it scared even her. In a voice that was not her own she said "You took them from me. You wanted them for yourself because they are better then yours! Dont lie Moon Spirit I know what you did." She was grasping at string and near tears. She did not know that her pups were scared and alone, and one lay dead. She held back a sob throwing all of her sadness to the wind and concentrating hard on her anger. "I dont want to go home I want my pups back. NOW!" Her voice snapped and she leaped at Moon Spirit her fangs not yet open but she body slammed her white sister hard sending the thinner weaker wolfess rolling. She stood above her taller sister and said vicously "Now tell me. Where are they?" Her hackles were raised and her lips curled back in a snarl but anguish haunted the mothers eyes. She was unbalanced but refused to admit it. She was not yet insane but she was teetering on the edge of insanity and almost crossed the line.
Moon Spirit snarled as she was rolled to the ground. She leapt up suddenly her jaws wide spread and snapping vicously at her sisters face. "These are my lands, wolf and if you dare come in them again I will kill you." Her eyes were dead cold and her lips pulled back in the same savage snarl as Aaka's. Her sister had gone to far this time and Moon Spirit just couldnt take it anymore. She was done. "As far as I am concerned you are no longer my sister" Her gaze was harsh and cold and she turned away from Aaka and trotted towards a large rock. She lay there her eyes glaring. "Leave now, or forever you will lie upon these lands remembered only by blood and what havoc you have left behind in your wake." It was still sinking in for Aaka that her sister no longer loved her, no longer wanted her. Softly in a cold voice she said "Fine." She turned away from her sister and snapped once at Karai and headed to the Ruins where White Noise and others lie in waiting to kill both her and her mate.
Karai
The whole thing had happened before Karai could react, and she stood snarling in the wake of Aaka's departure, standing between Moon Spirit and her sister. Her voice was soft, the growl still in it, her pelt brisk and stiff as she watched the white alphess leave. Many months ago I saw this coming, but spoke not. Now, I wish I had, if only to spare you the pain.
