.hysteria.
She came into the territory at a quick trot, her silvery coat shining in the sun. She stopped in the center of the territory, raised her silvery dial and gave a howl calling to the Devil herself.
The territory was beautiful in a dark sort of way. Everything here seemed almost.... Brooding. The sound of the creek could be heard in the distance, the water hitting the rocks to create a light musical sound to contrast the dark mood here in the territory. Hysteria looked around for her alphas. The scent of the terrain was that of the woods, pine needles, fresh water, and something a bit more potent... The Sedge Creek Pack itself. Hysteria looked for Erebus and Player, wondering where the two had gone.
EREbUS
Call it instinct. Call it iron will. Call it what you want, but as Hysteria departed at pace much quicker than her brother, for some reason, Erebus hung back. He was wary, probably rightly so, of this eagerness to arrange a meeting with their alphas. Remember that iron will I mentioned? Yeah well, that sheer iron will was exactly what it took to dissuade Erebus' strong limbs from propelling himself directly after the silvery female and her compelling ways. But for unknown reasons, he felt like sticking by Player might be the idea of choice. Other reasons, such as the fact females like Hysteria more than excelled at mind games, and that males were a little more, blunt - for lack of a fancier word - bolstered his confidence in his decision. Women. Goodness. They would be the death of him, would they not?
Erebus matched Player's stride as they went and had been about to ask him if his sister was always like this, when the brute seemed to have read his mind. 'She takes some getting used to. She's not a bad kid. Just a smart one.' He grinned back at Player. Oh yeah, did I mention the other reason Erebus did not go chasing after Hysteria? Well, frankly put, it was her brother. No need to go running circles around Hysteria like an awestruck pup with Player around. Erebus had been the youngest of the litter, a runt too (many even presumed he would stay that way... Erebus had other plans), but he had been fiercely protective of his older sisters. Nope, no need to put Player in a position of protecting his sister. Though, he had figured that the other brute was well aware of the effect his sister had on others, especially males. She has the ways of siren, I'm telling you.
"She seems like an expert at getting under the skin of others. Must be a handful."
Maybe expert might be an understatement. Maybe not, but she was good. Manipulative. But good.
As they entered the packlands, Erebus hesitated a step. It was always a strange moment when you crossed over the invisible borders. Humans built walls. Wolves, they had time tested, ageless rules ingrained on their very being. It was beaten into his head as a pup, DO NOT ENTER ANOTHER LAND UNINVITED. He was throwing his lot in with these strangers. In these lands, his life was at their mercy. Scary for any individual. Scarier for Erebus, he knew nothing of these lands, nor the reputations of the packs that ran the place. Forewarned is forearmed, of which he was neither. His sensitive nose worked furiously cataloging the scents he picked up as he followed. Just in case? Yeah, we are just going to stick with that. His ears swiveled atop his head, held in a submissive yet neutral position, and caught Hysteria summoning the alphas. It was now or never. What was he getting himself into? Hopefully something good. But you might as well call him Murphy, if it could go wrong, it would. It had been far too long since something bad happened, so he figured that it was just a matter of time. Stupid Murphy's Law. Get outta here.
Erebus slowed his pace as they drew closer to Hysteria, whose gaze he caught as she looked back for him and her brother. His muscles tensed as he awaited on the arrival of Saydin, or Valian, or both. He had never been outside of his own pack until he upped and left, this lone wolf act was as weird to him as it would be to others accustomed to constant companionship of pack members. He was used to being the judging, not the judged. Not anymore. Filthy humans had seen to ruining his home, hence his departure. Enough of that, though. Erebus was here, now, and nothing would change that. Oi vey.
Saydin
You could tell when the alphess was coming. The whole world seemed to freeze, time seemed to stop. Even the creek seemed to go a bit quieter as she approached. You would think that an alphess would be big, strong, and demand everything to bow down to her as she walked by. Saydin was anything but large. Roughly the size of Hysteria, she moved with a grace that any human ballerina would envy. Her eyes glowed a bright yellow, and her coat was that of the purest black. There were rumors floating around the valley that the alphess of the Sedge Creek Pack was a tad.... insane. Then again, there were also rumors floating around that she was the Devils sister, so what could you really believe?
She neared the trio at a slow, easy going trot. Her head tilted to the side a bit as she eyed Erebus looking him all up and down. Who is this, Hysteria? She asked softly. Where as Hysteria's voice was sweet and seductive, Saydin had a voice that dripped of sin. It had an edge to it, one that almost hinted at the madness that lay beneath the surface, but it drew one in, made them want more.... Saydin gave a slow smile to Erebus. My name is Saydin. Alphess of the Sedge Creek Pack. My mate, Valian, is currently in the middle of something. She didn't seem so bad.... How could others think that she was the Devil's little sister?
Hysteria watched Saydin warily. She had a great respect for her alphess but at the same time there was something about her, that fear that she would just snap one day, that kept her from actually trusting the alphess. Saydin... This is Erebus. He's new in town. Another smile was given by the alphess. New here, hm? Oh what fun...
EREbUS
I can not hold on \\ I will not let go
Hello, this is your voice of reason here, I'm not getting that warm and fuzzy welcoming feeling here, it might be in your best interests to leave.
Something was not right here, and that little voice in the back of his mind was singing that song like there was no tomorrow. But since Erebus was, well, Erebus, he thought nothing of it. Instead, he was studying Saydin with a very wary eye - in the most polite was possible, of course. Let us not piss off the ones in charge here, not today and hopefully not ever. His initial impression was that something was off, especially with that voice. First Hysteria, now her alpha, Saydin. This was the second time he was visibly thrown. There seemed to be a trend, what with these deceptively small females who looked like they could strike fear into even the most brave of hearts - with mere words. Words. Now that is something you do not see every day. It was very clear to Erebus, after she spoke, why Saydin was a leader. He did, in fact, pick up that tinge of madness, the sole reason that little voice was trying so hard to get him to leave. His resolve slightly weakened for a moment, the warnings jumping to the front of his mind, but with Saydin's smile, those warnings slid back into the depths of his mind once more.
Erebus presented himself in a very submissive yet independent manner as he was scrutinized by the ebony female. He wanted to make it very clear that, while he had the utmost respect for her leadership, there would be no firm commitments made today. He was, after all, new in town.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Saydin. I am very grateful to your pack members, Hysteria and Player. You never know how others will react to a new face”
S.aydin
Saydin gave another smile, warm, welcoming.... Her eyes never once leaving Erebus. Yes, these two are quite lovely, aren't they? She murmured softly. She gave a glance to Hysteria, who nodded and took her leave. She had great respect for her alpha, but even the brave little Hysteria was not good around the alphess. Next came Player. Where is your brother? Her voice had become much colder, and to Erebus's ears, it would seem as though she had a hate for young Player. She didn't hate Player. She just didn't find him.... Useful. The male was neither big enough to be a Guard or good in war, nor was he smart enough to be a wolf that could strategize with the best of them. Her tail was held high over her back, her bright yellow eyes glaring hard at him.
Player's tail immediatly tucked beneath him, and he sought an escape. When Saydin spoke like that, he felt like Hell was coming after him, ripping at his soul and tearing him to pieces. I... I haven't seen him Saydin. He murmured softly. That was Player's entire problem. He liked to pretend he was a macho alpha male, but in reality, he was nothing more then a pup in a big boys suit. Find him. The alphess hissed. He gave a nod and left, leaving Erebus alone with the demon alphess.
Around these parts, finding a good home can be quite.... a nusicance. she started walking away, fully expecting Erebus to follow her. Rarely did anyone say no to Saydin. She continued to speak as she walked. Each pack has their own strengths and weaknesses. Every pack has its allies, and its pack that it hates. Our biggest weakness? People think that my mate and I are blood thirsty killers that pupnap and kill for no reason. She glanced over at him. Do I look like a blood thirsty killer to you? Her voice was weaving magic around the mind, tightening its hold.... How could this slight and slender female be seen as a souless bitch? I admit, we do have a prisoner and grown pups here, but the pack that she came from started it. Aydan came into our packlands and started stirring up trouble here first, along with her mate Gyspy King. Then she lost her packlands and went to stay with Reincarnation, who is an ally of the shadow Lurkers. I wouldn't hate Rein if she wasn't such a noble bitch, but what are you going to do? She moved quietly as she told him of the packlands around and around. .There are a few rebels out there who choose not to stay in packs, but I don't recommend that. Eventually, someone will think you're tied down with someone else, make the wrong assumptions. That could get you killed. the black wolfess gave a smirk. She knew all about death in this pretty little Valley.
