Vix smelled the moose, it was large and scared.

He had caught the creature's scent and come to investigate. "He's huge." Nightcrawler commented as he came up near Verita. "Most of the pack has gone for the hunters." he commented, keeping his eyes on the huge beast. It would provide so much food if killed, but it'd probably be terribly difficult to bring such a large creature down.

The sound of a gun blast startled the wolf, bringing his keen ears up at alert. "Humans!" he whispered sharply to Verita. Forgetting about the moose for the time, the wolf struck out across the terrain, heading for the sound of the human.
