Blitz

The stag stood upon a hill, as still as a sculpture. His huge, rounded antlers had 15 points, proving his strength and age.

He had a beautiful coat, a chocolate-brown with silver tipped hairs that seemed to be like a mist always covering his body. He also had light silver dapples all over his barrel and back. He was big, and intimidating.

The statue then moved, and bugled out a challenge that said, "I challenge Wardell for Oak Prairie!" His breath misted at his mouth as he called, making him appear to be breathing smoke. He waited for an answer, and readied himself for an attack.

Sasha; Rosco

Sasha turned around, away from her family to see the stag. Her eyes seemed to be alight with flame. This was a hard time for her.

She trotted towards the deer, holding her head high. "Wardell is the lead stag, yes, but it is not he who is most dominant - it is I. If you are to fight anyone, it will be me." It was a bold move, yes, but it was the truth. "And I doubt you would want to hurt a doe, would you?"

Rosco, son of Sasha and Wardell, stood beside his mother and tossed his head. He was just now growing his antlers in. "I fight beside my mother, if anyone is cruel enough to harm a poor doe." He snorted.

Chido

Chido watched his adoptive mother and brother go to teh challenger and he was quick to follow. He had 6 tines on each antler. He now stood on the opposite side of Sasha. You hurt our mother and you will payHe snorted.

Sassy:The twin to chido watched her borhter and the others. She stayed by the growing fawns.

Singed

Singed hadn't been here long, but someone said she was allowed to stay. Who? She doesn't remember. Bravery pulsed threw her as the stag came, but Sasha stood up. Singed adored Sasha, if she stood up to stood, in which few, in any, does did so. Her eyes narrowed, her legs trembled. Would a stag hurt a doe?

Blitz

The stag was a bit taken aback by the doe's boldness, but he was not a cruel animal. He did not want to harm her, but he was not afraid. He merely said, "Okay. I am not going to harm you, nor challenge you. But I would like to tell that it is a bit mean to use your gender for protection. It puts us males in a bad position." He teased her, though he was part serious. "Though I would like to ask you, may I join your vast and strong herd?" He tipped his noble head to show that he was a well raised buck and that he respected her position. He waited politely for the doe's answer.

Chido

He pawed the ground.I don't think she was using her gender for protection. She is a loyal leader and will fight anyone who tries to steal her herd a way plus you would be fighting all of us if you wanted to take over this herdHe snorted. His ears flicked forward. He pawed the ground. The stags in this herd had already chosen their does that lived here and if this male tried to steal any of them from chido he would hurt him no matter the age.

Sasha; Rosco

Sasha gasped when Blitz spoke. "I am most certainly not using my gender for protection! I am merely warning you that if you harm a doe, you will have a very bad reputation. It is only natural for a stag to want to protect a doe." This was true, and she was a bit confused as to why the stag would make such an assumption. She was a bit concerned about letting him join her herd.

Rosco looked up at Blitz and snorted. "Don't talk to my mother that way. She's more than you could ever hope to be. If you want a home, I suggest you lighten up a little." He said, annoyed.

Normally, Sasha would have stopped her son. But this time, she let him tell that stag. "What motivation do I have to let you join my herd after you have spoken to me in such a way?" She asked, tilting her head.

Singed

Singed smiled at Rosco. "Does can fight, more harder and stronger-willed then most stags. Just because we don't have horns..." Singed piped, her eyes narrowed as Sasha challenged Blitz deeper. He had offended all female deer.

Chido

He listened and watched blitz. He would attack if sasha gave the go ahead. He would chase this stag off if asked to.

Sassy came up beside all of them.Watch your mouth stag

Blitz

Blitz took a step back, frowning. Then he said in a troubled, apologetic voice, "I was only joking. I too honor does, and I knew that she was not using her gender for protection. I did not mean a word of what I said. Please forgive me if I have offended you." He flicked his ears around. Obviously, he would not be able to joke around any more. He sighed, wishing that the others had understood.

Sasha

Sasha glared at Blitz. "If you do not mean something, do not say it. Saying something to hurt somebody is not a joke." She snorted.

Rosco stomped his hoof. "Watch what you say next time, stag, or you might just find yourself begging for mercy!" He said, enraged.

"Rosco!" Sasha scolded, nipping her son.

Chido

He snorted and stood strong

Blitz

Blitz laid his ears back and said, "Well, obviously I am not welcome here and I will leave you. These deer here obviously can't take a joke." His voice was very cool and matter-of-fact. Then he turned for the thick woods and began to leave.

Sasha

Sasha laid her own ears back. "You're wrong. We all have a good sense of humor. However, there is nothing funny about bringing another deer down to feel better about yourself. There is a difference between a joke and an insult." She said in the same bold, matter-of-fact way as the stag. Really, Blitz's insult - or 'joke' - had hurt her deeply. She was fighting back tears right now.

She then heard a howl from the borders of the territory. Silently, she trotted off.

Blitz

Blitz turned back at the sound of the does' words. His head drooped a fraction when he noticed her eyes brimming with tears. He sighed and said to her quietly, "I am sorry I have upset you so. I really did not mean anything by it. Please, forgive me." He stood quietly, his head and tail lowered.
