Penny
Penny flew up into a tree and watched the deer with her bird-of-prey eyes. She was looking for a home. She called out for the leader and waited patiently.
Wycliff
The red deer heard the call and headed in the direction. It didn't take her long to spot the bird, one which she had never seen in this land before, "You must be new around here." The hind said, tilting her head a bit as she looked up at the bird, "Were you calling for me?"
Penny
"Yes, your Majesty," Replied Penny, cocking her head, "I wish to stay in your land and I seek your permission to do so."
Black Wonder
Wonder saw the bird and gave a nod to it. Smiling to the bird as it flew in the air. She had been in this herd for not long
Wycliff
"Of course, you are more than welcome to stay here." Wycliff responded with a smile, then looked to Black Wonder. "Some of the other hinds and I were going to head to the Ranch. There are some delicious winter plants the humans grow there. Would you like to come with us?"
Black Wonder
"Yes, I'd be delighted. I need to get out and stretch my muscles. I've been grazing around her for quit somewhile." Wonder nodded, shaking flakes of snow off her neck.
Penny
Penny nodded. "If you ever need help defending your herd, or fighting, I could help you." She said. Her bill and feet could do much damage when she wanted them to.
Wycliff & Legend
"That would be most appriciated, thank you." The red deer replied to Penny, "If you ever need anything in return, please, feel free to ask any of us." As the hind was about to respond to Black Wonder, her yearling son arrived.
The stag, taking after his mother's genes, had patches of white fur over his body, though not nearly so much as his mother did. "Mom! Oh..." Legend said, slowing down as he saw she was having a conversation with the other two. Standing near Wycliff, the yearling looked curiously to the secretary bird.
"Legend, what is it?" Wycliff asked, extending her neck to lick the top of his head, clearing away a few burs that were caught there.
Legend almost cringed in embarrassment before shaking his head and pulling it back, "Mom..." He protested, before going on, "Locust says the wolves have taken all the land to the west, and over half the land in the center of the valley. They're starting to take the east side as well."
Wycliff stopped abruptly, "Lets not talk of this right now. Your father knows this already, I'm sure." Still, a look of worry shone in her large eyes. Trying to stay off the subject, she looked to the mare, "We might as well head to the Ranch now. It'll be dark by the time we get there anyway."
,hr> Wonder
"Wolves?" Wonder asked but shrugged. "They can't make it here any how"
Penny
Penny thought for a moment. She didn't want to say something silly, but she knew she probably would. She just blurted out, "I know of some one who can help, if you ever need it." She stepped back a few steps. This herd probably doesn't need any help. It wasn't wise of me to say that... She thought.
Wonder
"Thank you. Let's go Wycliff, I'm starving." Wonder smiled, trying not to sound demanding.
