The Forgiver

I move with a grace that betrays my age, even though it is not as silent as many would want. But, it could not be helped. I was blind and although I was intune with my surroundings, even I had limitations. My hearing was beyond excellent and I could hear the voices of others as if they were whispering in my ear. I turn to gaze blindly behind me, and a small bark escapes me. Toxin, Gevia, Acid, where are you? There was no point calling to Poison and Wicked Wisdom, they couldn't hear anything that anyone said but I had never seen any other with a sense of smell or eye sight as good as theirs. I know we are in anothers terrain, and its normally Toxin that leads us but she had stopped to help Acid. I had taken the lead, the blind leading the deaf mute and...Blind. My black and tan pelt blends well with the dark forest, but my stark blue eyes do not as I gaze around. I'm lost, but I don't want to admit it. I could hear voices, the fact they were going on a hunt. Maybe we would get lucky and they wouldn't know we were here. I lay my pup body down, uncertain of where to go now. Theres a fern around me, I can smell it. I can feel it as it brushes my black and tan body. I was black except for the brindle stripes all across my back. I stare straight ahead, listening intently for the others.

THE ANCIENT STALKER FOR THE DARK WISDOM

I come after Kaiya, and I see her speak but I have no clue what she is speaking of. I wish I did, god I really wish that for once I could hear what others are saying. The way they say it, even if it was just one sentence. I want to but...I was born this way. I was born into a world of darkness just as Kaiya was born into a world of darkness. Gevia was born mute, but I never truly understood why she was named "Little Liar" of she couldn't lie. I mean, if you think about it, how do you lie without speaking? Honestly, I didn't know what I sounded like and for that I feared speaking. Kaiya and Toxin had 'told' me that we were going to be leaving our home. Our 'mother' died. She wasn't our real mother, but since all of us but Toxin were disabled, she was put in charge of us since no one else wanted us. I see Kaiya laying in the snow, and I smile at her. She was always so loving, so trusting of everyone. She was unlike any other I had met. She was my sister, in a way since we had grown with the same mother. I loved all of my family, but out of them all Kaiya was my favorite.

I Lie To Keep Myself Alive

Although mute, I keep myself alert at all times. My sisters and brothers surrounding me, I feel strong and unbeatable. I turn and stare behind me, anger rising. Toxin was supposed to be leading, not poor little Kaiya. I sigh softly. It was unfair to treat Toxin that way. It was such a burden on her that her mother died and now she was left to take care of us. I turn, and continue on. She had to help Acid, who was having difficulties navigating her way through. She was deaf and blind on her right side, had been ever since she was born. It was sad really, after two months of living with only her left side, you'd think she'd be used to it but who was I to talk. Wait...I can't talk. Damn. Scowling, I turn back around and continue on. I am an odd looking hybrid, with a mainly black body and a white patch over my right eye and a tan foot. We were all hybrids. All except Poison, he was pure wolf. I don't know whats wrong with him, all I know is that something went wrong and now he is permanently blind. I hope one day I can speak, even though I'm sure it will never happen. I just wish that others could see me for me, and not pity me because I can't speak. I think thats how all of us feel, because each of us has something wrong. If Toxin leaves, I don't know what we'll do. We'll be lost in a world of hatred. Lost inside of ourselves....Lost....Forever.

She moved quietly alongside the black Acid, her eyes down cast. She was playing as the black females right side, for she couldn't see or hear out of the right side of her body. Her gaze landed on the others, and the same bone weariness that she had gotten used to in the past two weeks settled in deeper. She didn't know how much longer she could keep this up, playing as a guide for the others. Kaiya lay so quietly, as if not a care in the world. She seemed like she could see, but Toxin knew otherwise. In a soft voice she said I'm sorry. In truth, the grey female had no clue why she was apologizing but she knew she had to. An odd looking female, she continued forth until her and Acid were in front of Kaiya. Her pelt was grey with black stripes all down her back except for the center, she had a ring around her body of white. One blue eye and one emerald green eye were on the other fatale, that was covered with a black mask across the face of grey. Toxin looked tired, her pelt was shaggy and all of them were bone thin. Poison was the oldest of them, and he was only four months. Being blind, he couldn't hunt very well. Mice were about as far as they got. They were not yet fast enough to catch the fleet footed rabbits and hares, deer and elk were to large, and birds would just as soon carry them off as be caught. Black female sighed softly. She was so tired....She just couldn't do this anymore. So...Where are we? Asked Acid. She turned her head around, taking in as much as she could with her left eye. A stab of pity went through Toxin. She hadn't been born with the defects the other five had, but she knew none of them wanted to be taken pity of. I don't know. Murmered Toxin. Suddenly an accusing tone rang out You took us from our home, and for what?! Now, we're lost and its all your fault Toxin. Christ, you let Kaiya lead. Shes just as blind as I am. What were you thinking?! Toxin flinched at Poisons accusing tone. He was right, she should never have let Kaiya lead but she couldn't help it. She'd had to help Poison, and since Gevia wasn't helping any, and two others couldn't see, what else was she to do? I...I'm sorry Poison. It won't happen again, I promise. She said to him in a soft tone. She sounded as if she were about to cry, and in all honesty, she was. She was trying so hard to bring their little family together, and it wasn't helpful that Poison was so cold and hating towards her and the others. He thought that because he was defective, he could get away with anything. That the world would shun them. Damn right it won't happen again. I think Gevia should lead from now on. He was scowling, his steel grey eyes glaring hard at point just beyond the others. He was staring hard at the tree, and Toxin stood still trying her hardest not to weep. Five pups, all left in her care. She didn't know how much more of Poisons hateful words she could take.

The black female turned and scowled at Poison even though she knew he couldn't see. What is your problem?! Toxin has done more for you then you've done for everyone in your entire life! Shes trying which is more then I can say for you! There was a shocked silence before Poisons face contorted to a look of sheer fury. Don't you dare speak to be like that, Acid! He snarled at her. Acids face turned to the same look of fury and she screamed Why?! Just because your older then everyone, you can boss all of us around?! What if Gevia doesn't want to lead us, what if she wants to remain following?! Your so stubburn! I HATE YOU! Tears burned in her eyes as she glared at the male heatedly. She wasn't like Toxin, she didn't bother hiding her emotions. If she felt something, she was going to show it and the others were going to know as well. Acid....Calm down. You didn't mean that. Toxin said in a soft voice. Acid shook her head, the tears streaming down her cheeks. The scream that had just erupted from her would be heard, and then they would all be in trouble. But, like before she still didn't care. No, Toxin. I meant every word I just said. He...He thinks hes all high and mighty just because he can't see. He thinks that everyone should pity him, worship the ground he walks on. Well, I'm tired of it. I'm tired of him. With that the female sniffled and turned, moving quietly towards Kaiya. She lay down beside the female, crying softly. She was tired, hungry, and weak. She wanted to go home, but if they went home no one was there to care for them. They were stuck.

He was stunned at Acids words. She never really spoke so heatedly, but when she did everyone made sure to stay out of her way. A dark scowl settled across his face. He heard her go lay down, somewhere near Kaiya and he said in a steely tone I want no ones pity. A dark growl arose from him and he lay down where he was. They were all turning against each other. Come on guys....Snap out of it. I know your tired, but we can do this. We can make it, we're a family! Came Toxins exclaim. Poison just shook his head. She was always trying to be nice, but he knew better. Her soul was just as dark as his, she just hadn't dug deep enough to find it. He had, long ago he had found his dark side and he embraced it. It was comforting, his world of darkness that matched his soul of black anger. He continued to stare darkly at the tree ahead of him. He was going into silence now, unwanting to hear and speak to the others. They were annoying, always being so nice. He'd show them. One day, he would learn and they would all cower in fear when people merely voiced his name. The voices that had been speaking before were silent now, and he wondered if that meant they were coming for them but still he didn't say anything. Let them find the pups. When they did, they'd all be killed. Except him, he'd get away. He could always get away it was just a matter of trying. And knowing the layout of the land.

He listened to the discussion but when it fell silent, Vestige didn't really know what to do. So much for being an alpha. He stared at the ground, trying desperately to think of something to say. So they would go on a hunt. Ok, but would that be the best option? Hidden and Absolute were still young and may not know how to hunt properly and it might be the same for Aylen. They would have to bring back food for all of them here and Aminita. His thoughts were interupted by heated shouting. He couldn't quite make out what was being said, but he could tell it wasn't someone from his pack. His pack was standing right with him, apart from Aminita who was at the den. His ears shot up, pulling his head up with them and he spun round in the direction of the noise. Raising his tail, Vestige trotted over towards the group of pups with a confused look on his face. Hello, I'm Vestige. Who are you and what are you doing here? It wasn't said in an agressive way, it was spoken in a nuetral tone and he glanced from one to the next. Something was wrong with these pups, he just couldn't quite work it out yet.

Sightless eyes drifted to Vestige as a smile spread across my maw. I'm Kaiya and we're lost. I said merrily. I hear a soft sound of exasperation escape Gevia and I scowl in her direction, but instead end up scowling at a rock. Hush Gevia. Hes just trying to help. Gevias eyes widened and she jumped up as if in exclamation. Looking to Wicked Wisdom she gave him a plea with her eyes. Oh, and the one who can't speak, thats Gevia. And then the other one, hes Wicked Wisdom. This one beside me is Acid, and then the other male is Poison. And then theres Toxin. I say all of this matter of factly. Even if I can't see them, I can give the male answers. My black and tan tail wags back and forth as Gevia just shakes her head and begins to pace. I can hear her brush against things, the leaves, the grass beneath her feet. IT was this part of being blind that I enjoyed, hearing things that others could not. Like the fact that Wicked Wisdoms heart was racing, I could hear Acids tears falling down her cheeks and hitting the ground. It was amazing, really. I loved being blind.

I stare at Kaiya. I see her speaking, but I can't understand the words coming out of her mouth. Again, I just wish that for once I could hear the things that are being said. IT would be amazing, hearing voices for a change instead of my never ending silence. Some would call it a blessing. They don't hear things that could damage them. But....I don't know what Kaiyas voices sounds like. I didn't know that Vestige had spoken, I wasn't looking at him. Sure I had felt him arrive, but that wasn't the same. Quiet depression set in, but I didn't voice my sadness. Then Toxin would feel even worse, and I could feel the tension rising between her and Poison. HE was always causing problems. I never really understood why.

I stare at Kaiya as she gives away all of our information. I try and speak, but I fall short of words and instead jump around in exclamation, trying to silence her. I turn to Toxin, a silent plea in my eyes. I mean, come on. We were screwed beyond belief now. We were tresspassing on his land, a big no no. I take a deep cleansing breath when Kaiya speaks again Do you have a family? I turn and stare at her and fall over in exasperation. Jesus, she was trying to get us killed. You don't ask a wolf if he has a family. HELLO! NO NO! BAD! I shake my head, trying to please the alpha, and I walk over to her. IT was time to go, before we got ourselves eaten.

The odd looking female stared at Vestige with wide eyes. Now what? When Kaiya spoke, she let out a yelp and leapt in front of her, tail over her mouth as if to silence her. Uh...I'm really sorry, Vestige, sir. We...Uh...Didn't know these lands were taken. Uh.... I look at the others for help. Acid looks up and yips to him in greeting, then stands and races over to Vestige and throws herself against his chest and slides down his legs to lay on her back kicking her feet at him giggling. Toxins eyes grew wide with terror once more. Acid! No! I'm sorry, sir. Um...I'm- She began but was cut off by a sudden voice Just kill us and get it over with. Toxin let out another yelp and moved towards Poison now, batting him hard on the skull. He didn't mean that! She said. Poison scowled darkly at her and was about to say something else but stopped. Oh what was the point? They were dead anyways.

Acid stared as Toxin leapt from Kaiya to Poison. Toxins been taking care of us. But Poisons a meany head and always causes problems. Toxin groaned and hung her head. Who was she kidding? They deserved to be killed with the constant talking, the fighting, the fact that all of them looked like crap. Skin and bones is what they were. Dark laughter reached Acids ears and she looked at Poison. He can't see. He thinks hes gonna rule the world one day. Silence. SHUT UP ACID! He roared suddenly. The males blindess was a touchy subject, and one that could get little Acid killed. With a squeal, the small female jumped up and jammed herself between Vestiges legs so that she was 'protected'. Poison was off by a few inches, his teeth snapping shut where Acids stomach had been moments earlier.

Never, ever, do you talk about a wolfs blindness when you were as touchy as he. When Poisons teeth clamped shut on air he roared and tried again, but was stopped as Toxin came forward between Vestige and the male. His teeth snapped shut on her muzzle and tore a savage gash across it, and with a yelp the two month old puppy stepped backwards quickly into Vestige. Stop it! All of you! This is ridiculous! She said as blood dripped down her muzzle to blend in with the tears. We're supposed to be a family, and you are always fighting with each other like you want nothing more then to rip each others throats out! Silence once more. Poison glared heatedly in the direction of Acid, but then turned and stalked away, heading towards a tree. Acid remained underneath Vestige, and with a sigh, the bone weary Toxin moved away. She couldn't take much more, that was evident. She was beyond weak, mainly hunting for the blind ones and eating a mouse now and again to remain upright.

Well, they weren't here to take over, they were pups and lost. Feeling a fatherly instinct take over, Vestige couldn't help but feel sorry for them and a small smile appeared on his face. The alpha looked Kaiya as she asked him about a family. The alpha nodded, but then realised what was bothering him about these pups. They all had some sort of disablility. Blind, deaf, mute. He felt incredably sorry for them now. He noticed that Kaiya was blind, and so wouldn't have seen his nod. Yes Kaiya, I have indeed.

Then Toxin jumped up and dashed over to try and make up for some sort of mistake. Vestige just smiled. It's fine, really. I... But he was then bombarded by Acid. A sudden longing to see his own pups again saddened the alpha; this playful action from Acid brought back memories of his own pups.

Then, he was back with them, a dream flooding back to him that was so vivid it made him think they were back once more, that little Acid was Angel, one of his daughters, and Poison was Krypt. A growl erupted from Vestige, but he was too late to save Acid as Poison's teeth snapped shut onto her, making her muzzle bleed. Snapping back into reality as Acid pleaded with her "family" and backed underneath him.

Shaking his head, Vestige tried to calm himself down, regretting the growl he had uttered from his daydreaming. It seems you are all weak, and need somewhere to stay. I have a pack and we can look after you. I wouldn't dream of hurting a pup, so killing is out of the question. If anything, I want to help you. Would you like to stay?

The odd looking hybrid still had the look as if she might just burst into tears. When Vestige said they could stay, tear filled puppy eyes lifted upwards to Vestige's own. You...You mean it? There was hope in her voice, just a spark that matched the same small spark in her eyes. The female was so tired, she could have fallen right there. The only thing keeping her up was Acid, who needed constant protection from Poison. They never had gotten along, and it saddened the female to no end. We would greatly appreciate that, sir. she said to him. She heard Poison snort in anger but she didn't care. They had a home, a place to stay. A place where someone took at least partial care of them. A place where she could sleep soundly.

Acid glared at Poison and stuck out her puppy tongue at him, even if he couldn't see. Suddenly she pounced on Vestige's front paw, all play once more. Do you wanna play? I like to play, its fun! Toxin sent an apologetic look to Vestige. She had grown up way to fast, and thought of herself as an adult even though she was a mere two months old. She had heard Vestiges growl, and in a way it frightened her. She wasn't used to this....Someone around to break up fights, to settle differences.

Vestige smiled down at Toxin and nodded his head. Yes, I mean it. Your very welcome. He smiled softly at the pups, slightly concerned with Poison's rather dark behaviour, but he didn't say anything, yet. Maybe once they got to know each other better, Vestige could find out what had made him so, violent and moody. Maybe having a home and a proper family would make him better?

Acid then assulted one of his front paws. Slowly Vestige's tail began to sway from side to side in a playful manner. He grinned, shaking his head at Toxin as if to say "Don't worry, its fine". He lowered his muzzle and gently nudged her in a playful manner as he lifted up his other paw to gently bat her. He felt alot better, knowing these pups wouldn't be out on their own any longer. He noticed how skinny they all were. Maybe he should go on that hunt after all, these pups needed food.

He lifted his head again, tipping it back. A low howl was released into the air, calling the pack together. This way everyone could bond, and he could show the pups how to hunt and feed them. He had decided he would take over as a fatherly sort of figure for them all. He waited for the pack to arrive. He gently nudged Acid, Catch me if you can! He slowly trotted away from her and would dodge her if she tried to catch him. After a few attemtps he would let her get him and chase her, missing her every time.

The sleek white huntress trotted to her alphen's call, trailed by three sets of paws still pup-clumsy and silly. The state of these poor pups made the mother sigh and whine a bit, for she instantly wanted to make everything better.

Her children, on the other hand, saw nothing but potential playmates. Though they could clearly see the useless eyes, if not tell that the others were similarly disabled, they were very accepting pups, and so gathered in a bunch at their mother's feet, tails awag.

Hi! was the bright comment from Kimama. I'm Kimama! And this is Altan, and Taini! Who are you guys?

Altan groaned artfully, though it was clearly pretense, and spoke. You know, we DO know our own names. We could have introduced ourselves. And he promptly tackled his sister, and they were soon having an all-out wrestling match and a jolly good time.

Liseli smiled and shook her head in that tolerant manner that mothers have, and spoke softly, warmly. And I am Liseli... mother to all of these little... rascals. It was a fond nickname, said with a hint of laughter, but none mean-spirited.

I hear the beats of many others coming and just like Kimana I say I'm Kaiya, thats Toxin and Acid and thats Poison. The others are Wicked Wisdom and Gevia. Glad to hear that they were staying,I stood. Coming forth, feeling my way until I was within a few few of Taini. Do you guys want to play? Although blind, I felt as if I could see perfectly. Ice blue eyes were warm and gentle, as was my nature. Gevia stood as well as Wicked and we all waited, wanting to see if they wanted to play with us to.

Aylen's pads brought her upon the scene. She smiled and sat down. Her yellow eyes were bright, dancing in the winter sun.
Hello! I'm Aylen, a new member to this pack
Her tail was held in a friendly position, her dial up high, but also low enough to be friendly. This wolf had come just recently with another, Absolute, from the canyon. Actually, she had just arrived there, this pack being the only pack she'd seen so far. Her pelt gleamed, her pools fixed on the new ones.

Taini nodded and smiled to each pup as they were named, trying desperately to remember each name and associate it with a face. But the offer to play completely distracted her, and she grinned broadly, letting out a yip of joy. Of course I wanna play! And with only that ceremony, she hopped up to grab hold of an ear, giggling. It didn't matter that her new playmate was blind; she was going to have as much fun as any one pup could.

Altan continued to wrestle Kimama, though she called to the other pups, giggling. Help me! He... and she was lost amid giggles. He... he tick... tickles!

Liseli smiled pleasantly at Aylen as she watched the young ones tumble. She sighed patiently, grinning. Pups. What could you do?

His words seemed at a lost as the tumbling in the bushes arose. He stood silently and let the others head over first, then saw his friend, Aylen, move over as well and thought it was time to join.

Glowing like a god from the heavens, he padded forward toward the group. To his suprise the group had more than tripled since his first arrival with only Hidden and Liseli. He was silent, not introducing himself until one asked him for his name. Instead the peppered wolf stared low and watched as the puppies played. It was a foreign sight to him, one that his wasn't use to. All the pups in his pack hated each other and were very bitter to all the others. There were only some moments when peace would settle and the pups in his memories would play.

Tenderly his feet did move, moving toward the middle and looking for a pup who didn't quite seem to fit in. But then again, who was he to fit in. Aylen had said she was apart of the pack, he still was quite unsure of himself. The question wasn't: Do you want to fit into this pack? It was : WILL you fit into this pack? Both echoed through his mind. He wanted to fit into the pack, but would he... he wasn't sure.

Taini was a sweet little soul, and very empathic, and seeing poor Absolute looking so lonely bothered her. So she left off playing with the others to trot up to the lonesome wolf. Hey... why are you so sad? And scared? It's okay, I'll be your friend. I'm Taini!

Aylen smiled at Absolute and moved up closer to him. Her tial twitched and her pools danced back and forth between the pack and him. Absolute seemed to be troubled. The fea knew why. She sighed and lowered her dial, moving even closer, her pads feeling relaxed as the soft, grassy ground was padded down. She exaled deeply and gave him a friendly lick.

Cheer up. Is it really that hard?

Aylen sighed and smiled at the new soul of Taini. Ah, those days when she was so young. Just like her. It made the fae wish that she was forever young.

I want to also be your friend. If you haven't already heard, I'm Aylen.

His heart was aching with every pulse, could this last forever? His imagination took his sight and made the pups ravenous against each other. Blood shedding and the end of the pack as he knew it. He felt weak, helpless, his legs began to shake and his head lifted in alarm. Why, why do I see them this way!?

The tiny voice was his lasso of freedom. The blood disappeared, the violence: gone. The pups were once again playing in his eyes and in his essence. Who was it that saved him? His search was answered as the pup spoke the tiny word "Taini". Absolute stared at her for a moment, dear child you have saved me. A second being broke his soul from its painful barrier, Aylen. His eyes turned to her, dark and clouded but he saw her intentions to help him; He smiled. "It is a beautiful sight..." He began, his words sure of the sentence he had just spoken. He turned to Taini, introducing himself. "I am Absolute, Son of Insecure. And I shall be your friend as well." Glowing bushy tail gave a few flicks of happiness.

He spoke again, softly and to Aylen. "It is a beautiful sight, but... will it last?" His pondering was more serious than painful this time, but he shook his head and with a gleaming smile he answered himself. "Of course it will."

Vestige smiled as Liseli, her pups, Aylen and Absolute arrived, a small nod was given to each of them in greeting. The alpha waited a few moments more, but figured Moonpaw and Camarin were delayed by something, so started anyway.

Not everyone's here, but I'll start anyway. I've called you here because we are going to go on a hunt. Not only do we all need food but these new pups need to be fed. They are under my protection, and the protection of this pack. Treat them as you would each other. Now, We will need someone to sit with the pups whislt we are gone, I trust Aminita will be able to do that, unless there is anyone here that would rather do it?

Once this matter was settled, Vestige would head for the Prairie.

Liseli listened intently, and nodded at V.estige's suggestion that Aminita sit with the pups. I just sent Kimama over there to break the ice a few minutes ago, and she says that Aminita is a very sweet wolfess, and a capable mother. She seems to me to be a little timid, but otherwise a very nice sort of wolf. By all means, she will look after the young ones well.

Taini smiled at Absolute, and hestitated for just a moment before seeming to make up her mind about something. Finally, she came around to his other side and leaned her tiny pup-weight against him, tail twitching against his hocks. Absolute... and Aylen. My new friends.

The light-colored wolfess smiled at Absolute and rubbed her fur against his. Her orbs gleamed yellow in the winter sun. Her eyes stood out in the winter landscape. But she said nothing. Nothing to Absolute. But her pools and smile told him everything. Absolute, you are strong. You have been through many things in your life. Are you ready to settle down and live a life in a family?

She looked down to the little pup, Taini. Aylen gave her a friendly lick. Not knowing what to say to the pup, she kept her maw closed. Aylen didn't want to say something offensive, frightening, or stupid, by accident. She kept her maw closed.

His heart lightened, as if a heavy fat man was lifted from its burden. A fat man of painful hate. Yeah... that was it.. He smiled at Aylen, knowing what she was thinking and he thanked her in return.
