Sakura
Sakura was about 7 months old and had run off when Starscream had barked at her. The young wolf saluki mix had run and run and now just walked having got lost. Her dark brown eyes wide with fear. She looked mostly wolf with a longer and softer coat. She is dark grizzled gray with white patches around each eye and her lower jaw was also white. The young female whimpered. She had been howling but it seemed she had gotten too far from home and she couldnt find her way back.
Hutch
Sakura's pack may not have heard the pup's cries, but someone else did. Hutch had strayed ignorantly over the boarder of the pack's boundaries, mostly in search of food to fill his gaunt belly, when Sakura's lonely voice reached his floppy ears. They perked and listened to her wails, half wondering where her parents were. When no one answered her back, the bulldog temporarily forgot about his quest for a meal and changed course to locate the wayward pup.
After a bit of searching and a bit of luck, Hutch eventually came across the grizzled female. His long tail waved behind him in a friendly gesture, while his heart strings were being tugged at by her whining, "Awww, hey there. You must be lost too?" The young dog approached her without a stitch of reservation, getting close enough to sniff at Sakura with his big, blunt muzzle.
Sakura
Sakura was not counting on encountering anyone that wasn't from the pack and her little nose was to the ground as she tries to find her mothers scent. Her father was dead she knew that. The pack hadn't been in this area in a long time so the scents were too faint for her to figure out which way she had come. She whined as she walked not daring to stop as she was out in the open. Her mother had always warned her about birds of prey. Then another appraoched her and he was a stranger. Run or what? He came close enough that he began to sniff her. Her instincts told her to flee but instead she rolled over and submitted whining but not talking. She wouldn't talk to a stranger. The wolf pup was scared, her family was no where in site.
Hutch
It had been many, many miles ago that he last saw another canine face, last had an opportunity to talk to anyone, or more importantly, found someone to play with. Even though he was now a year old, Hutch was still very much an adolescent, and hadn't lost much of his puppy spirit, despite his larger size and growing maturity. So when he saw Sakura, the bulldog didn't so much see her as a lost and defenseless pup, but more as a potential friend and playmate, and someone who was just as in need of companionship as him.
"Ahhh, don't be scared. C'mon, roll yourself over now, I'm not going to bite you." Hutch's lanky tail waved merrily behind him as he tried to encourage Sakura.
Sakura
Sakura watched him and she did just that however she still refused to speak she didn't know who he was and sure he seemed friendly enough but still he could lead her to either her family or into danger. She began to move again trying to pick up a trail back to her family to no avail all the while staying in his sights. Whether she was doing that on purpose or by accident she didn't really care to know. However; he hadn't attacked her yet and he was bigger so she did feel like she was safe near him.
Hutch
Hutch just stood there at first, tail continuing to wave with merry animation behind him. He tilted his head a little, and a number of wrinkles formed in the fur above his eyes as he gave her a quizzical look, "So you are lost, aren't you? It's a good thing I found you then, before a cougar did. I smelled one not long back." Whether Sakura was actively listening to him, or whether he was mostly talking to hear his own voice, Hutch continued to blabber on without needing any response from the pup. "I guess that means I've got to look out for you now then, huh? I can't just leave a pup by herself, not when there's big cats around. Welp-" The leggy bulldog padded closer to Sakura and stretched his tongue out to give her a lick on the head. "-we'd better get out of here then, Puppy. Follow me, and we'll find some chow, okay?" He started to turn away then, but stopped to look back and see if Sakura was following him.
Sakura
Sakura could not pick up the scents she was looking for and then someone licked her and then she watched him walk off and she gazed around her but then she knew her best bet for survival would be to stay with Hutch so she turned and ran after him.
Hutch
As soon as Hutch knew that Sakura was following after him, he started into an easy lope that wouldn't be too difficult for the pup to keep up with. His steady pace was leading them both towards the southeastern border of the territory, where they'd soon cross over the boundary of the Aspen Grove, and be entirely out of the packlands. "So Puppy, do you have a name? Did I tell you mine yet? Maybe I did... if not, it's Hutch." The bulldog looked back at her with a smile and brightened expression that matched perfectly with the upbeat tenure of his voice.
Sakura
Sakura followed him even though she shouldn't.SakuraWas all she said as she followed him. Hoping that he would lead her to her family.
Hutch
"Sakura, that's a pretty name." The bulldog commented. "I have a sister named Sasha; not quite the same, I guess." Hutch looked forward again, sprang over a small creek, and continued on. It wasn't long before he'd led the pup away from her home.
