Dimitri

It really hurt Dimitri that he didn't know how to help Hunter. It only brought him a bit of relief that Viktor might be able to.

He leaned against the wall, a bottle of vodka in his hand. He had been drinking more lately, trying to drive away all the stress. It barely helped, but at least it felt good. After the sting of the alcohol wore off, everything seemed alright.

He walked to the window and peered out, then walked back to Hunter and sat down next to her. "Viktor should be here soon..." He mumbled monotonously.

Hunter

She leaned against him for a moment, before she picked up the vodka bottle in his hand and threw it as hard as she could at the wall. Well... It almost made it to the wall. It landed with a thump a few feet away from her target, still intact. Tears sprang to her eyes. She was losing everything. Her strength, her friends, her love... Even the will to live. Was Jaidens curse a blessing in disguise?

Dimitri

Dimitri truly felt sorry for Hunter. He couldn't imagine the pain she was going through. He put his arms around her, quite concerned. "Hang in there, Hunter. We'll get through this." He whispered.

Within a few moments, Viktor arrived with several cases of medical supplies. "Dimitri, do you know what the poison was?" He asked. Dimitri shook his head.

Viktor paused, thinking deeply before he walked toward Hunter. "Our best bet is to try to clear it out with an IV until we know what is was..." He pulled out a needle and a bag of IV fluid. "Hunter, I need you to lie down." He said.

Dimitri stayed by Hunter the whole time, being very protective.

Hunter

She laid down quietly, and closed her eyes. Tears had begun to stream down her cheeks, and she wanted to scream to the world. Sure, Viktor. Whatever you want. She whispered softly. She rested her head on a small red pillow, closing her eyes.

Mama? came a quiet voice. Shaun came into the living room, a little two year old now. She was a cute little thing, a shy little girl. But now her mama was sick and she didn't know what was going on.

Dimitri

Viktor nodded vaguely, sticking a needle with an IV line into Hunter's arms. "Just relax for a while." He then sat on a chair nearby to keep an eye on things.

Erin followed Shaine out, now five years old. Her multi-colored eyes looked up at her brother. She said nothing, but it was obvious that she was scared. She grabbed Dimitri's hand, trembling.

Dimitri looked down at the two young girls, then knelt in front of them. "Shaine, Mama will be better soon. For now, she just needs to rest." He hated telling his daughter that everything would be alright, when he knew from experience that it was never alright.

Hunter

Shaine came closer, and raised up her hand to her fathers cheek. Mama get better. She patted his cheek, the small little two year old with her white and reddish brown hair, her brown eyes shining at him. She thought the world of her father, and giggling she threw herself against him, wrapping small chubby arms around his neck.

Hunters eyes opened for a moment to stare at her daughter and her love. Tears sprang to her eyes, so the young woman shut them again and turned away, drawing her knees up to her chest. She was mindful of the IV as she moved, careful not to take it out. She had once been a strong, fierce fighter, someone on the streets that many had feared. Now, she was next to nothing.

Dimitri

Dimitri nodded, taking his daughter's hands. "She'll get better." It half killed him that he didn't know if what he was saying is true.

After a moment, he walked back over to Hunter and knelt down next to her. He was trying to be strong, but even he couldn't keep it together. "Stay with me, Hunter. It's gonna be alright. Just stay with me. Don't leave me." His voice was quivering as he reached out to grab her arm.

Hunter

Tears filled her eyes as she turned her face to Dimitri's. I don't want to die yet. She whispered softly, so that only he could hear. Her hands turned into fists and she seemed to draw back, her eyes going cold and distant. IT was like staring into a strangers face, the once beautiful girl now nearly a husk with no life, no dreams no hopes...

Suddenly from outside a howl could be heard. Styxx rarely made himself known on the island, preferring to stick to the shadows and out of everyones way. But he had just seen an intruder on the island, leaving the front porch of the Volkov home. A package was left on the porch, nothing descript about it. Just a simple brown box with brown paper over it. But was was inside... that could save her. Instructions on how to use the antidote were inside as well, but could they trust it?

Dimitri

Dimitri look down at the frail girl. "I'm not going to let you die, Hunter." His head shot up when he heard a howl. Immediately, he stood up, grabbed a rifle, and swung the door open. He couldn't see the wolf that had been howling. He looked down and saw the package.

Dimitri picked the box up and opened it. He looked inside, a bit nervous, and read over the piece of paper. He sighed. This would either kill Hunter or it would save her. And really, he was desperate enough to do anything right now.

Hunter

Her eyes drifted over to Dimitri. Baby? What is it? she asked softly.

Note :

You Don't know me, and you have no reason to trust me. I know what Jaiden did to Hunter, and your going to have to administer this. This WILL cause her a lot of pain. It might make her sick as well, so have a bucket handy. First things first, sterilize a spot on her arm that goes directly into the vein. Do not, I repeat, do NOT hit anything besides a vein (like tissue, muscle etc.) this will cause even more pain, and may lead to death. Once the antidote is in her body try and keep her as calm and relaxed as possible. This is an extremely painful procedure, and I'm sorry. Jaiden's mind is twisted, and I can do nothing to stop him. Try and keep the environment calm. Children, pets, other people she doesn't know... Out. I know this will be hard, and I know that you love her. If I had ever known that this is what Jaiden was doing, I never would have made the virus. My humblest regards.

J. Zacharias.

Dimitri

Dimitri read over the note carefully. It pained him to know that this would hurt Hunter, but he knew it was the only way. He walked back inside with the bottle and syringe. "It's the antidote." He said solemnly. "Viktor, get the kids out of here. And the dogs."

Viktor, sensing that this was a grave situation, took the two children and the dogs outside.

Dimitri grabbed a bucket and put it next to the couch. He took his belt off and tied it around Hunter's arm to expose the vein. He snatched one of the many small bottles of vodka that he had sitting on the end table and used the alcohol to sterilize the arm. "Hold still." He slowly and very carefully injected the antidote into Hunter's arm. And then he waited.

Hunter

Dimitri? She asked softly, her eyes quizzical. Thats when it hit her. IT was like fire pouring through her veins, a burning sensation ripping through her body. Her pupils dilated and her breathing turned ragged. D-Dimitri... MAKE IT STOP GET IT OUT! She screamed. Her head felt as though it was going to explode, her body turned feverish. Was this really the cure? How could this be the cure, it was killing her. God, she would never complain again about whatever virus Jaiden had given her, for this, this was hell, this was torture. Baby... Baby make it stop please make it stop. She whimpered.

Dimitri

Dimitri grabbed Hunter and pulled her closer, trying to comfort her. "It'll all be over soon, Hunter. I promise you." He wondered if this would really work or if it was another one of Jaiden's plots. Maybe Damian was even behind it. He shut those thoughts out. This would work, and Dimitri would try to remain optimistic for the sake of Hunter.

Hunter

Her nails were digging into the palms of her hands drawing blood but she didn't care, didn't care because god it just hurt, it hurt so bad. Dimitri please... Please kill me God baby make it stop. Please make it stop. She knew where the guns were, knew where everything was. Everythign was brighter, clearer, but she couldn't focus on any one thing. It HURT dammit, this hurt!

Soon though, maybe ten, twenty minutes of the gut wrenching pain... And it started to ebb. And the sickness set in. Her stomach clenched and she leaned over the couch quickly, emptying what little contents she had in her stomach. Soon she was merely dry heaving, her skin cold and clammy.
