Lanaya

She ambled along, pleasantly enough, with the mish mish of fresh snow beneath her paws. Her mature body, serpentine through the tall weeds, twitched as the storm continued on and flakes fell, gently and slowly.

It had been months since she had seen her mother, and that the pain of first being seperated had subsided. Lanaya was of that age where she could easily make it out on her own, but she had always been very close to her mother, and the idea of living a solitary life, even if it was common amongst her kind, frightened her.

The orange feline stopped and scaled a dead, leaf-less tree and sat down, ever so regally, and let her beautiful green eyes scour the blanketed ridge on the back side of the island. Her life had been so uneventful thus far...

Trillium

He reflected his Havana cat blood in the sleek, limber build of his body, and the peppering of brown over his face and body. An equal amount of orange also graced his fur, though it lacked the characteristic stripes and swirls that his father and many of his siblings had. Most of the time, Tril loved his coloring - and was perhaps a little to prideful of it - but it didn't help him blend into this wintry landscape that he was currently trudging through. Snowflakes pelted him lightly, and every now and then, he'd stop to give his fur a good shake or swat the icy crystal that had gathered on his whiskers.

Unlike Lanaya, Trill had been born in the Valley itself, spending an equal amount of time in the wilderness as he did around the humans. He'd become one of those stray toms that many humans knew and occasionally fed, and was acclimated enough to the bi-pedal creatures that he one day ventured onto a boat... and the next thing he knew, he wasn't in the Valley anymore. It had been five days now that he'd been on the large island, and though he could smell his homeland and hear the birds chatter about it, he couldn't find a way to get back.

"Will this snow ever stop?" A little sour in attitude, Trillium continued along through the snow, generally not paying attention to things as he should. He was heading directly under Lanaya's tree as he went on mumbling, apparently too engrossed in talking to himself to notice her scent right away, "I think my paws might freeze off! Where's a human house when you need one?"
