Keilo
The beta returned to the prairie quite a while after leaving. After unsuccessful attempts at hunting, he turned to stealing to get a meal for his mate and himself. In his jaws he clutched the old remains of a doe, buried in another pack's caches. Keilo searched the area keenly, trying to find his mate. He was afriad to howl for her in case he got unwanted attention.
Vatoni
Vatoni sat up and looked for her mate. Spotting him she padded over, "Santori never came." She said with a sigh. "And I haven't scene the pups anywhere." Her hopes where beginnng to fall for finding their pups, but she tried not to let him know. Her leg still hurt, but not as bad and her headach was gone. She smiled when she saw the food, licking his cheak in a thankyou.
Keilo
He nuzzled her tenderly with a soft look in his eyes. "I'm sure Santori is around here somewhere, he just likes to wonder far. And..." the beta glanced around once, "We will find the pups. They are clever, I know." he tried to sound confident in his words so that he wouldn't worry his mate, but the pang of fear gripped his stomach. He was worried greatly for them.
Vatoni
Vatoni smiled softly at him, "I hope so." She said. She ate what she wanted, making sure to leave plenty for Keilo. Then she layed down and rested, closein her eyes for a bit.
Keilo
Keilo looked around, staying on guard as his mate ate her fill. Once she was done, he ate as well until his hunger was satisfied. Then he layed down next to Vatoni and rested his head on his paws.
After a while, Keilo lifted his head again and gently nudged his mate with his muzzle, "Should we try to find a new pack now? I fear the humans out here..." Again, he looked about nervously but didn't betray that much fear on his voice.
Vatoni
She thought for a moment and nodded, "I think we should." She said, looking at him, "But what pack?" She asked.
Keilo
His head tilted to the side just slightly as he thought, "Maybe the Aspen Grove, or the..." he tried to remember the other places. He had been to the Aspen Grove pack before, and knew his friend lived there. Or, at least he use to. "I suppose we could try that place first? Or maybe the others around it?" Keilo suddenly whipped his head around, "Did you hear that? That howl..."
Vatoni
Vatoni stood up and looked around, "yes, I heard it, it sounded like Kanan!" She said. She howled back hoping to here a response.
Keilo & Kanan
Keilo gave voice to a loud howl, calling for his son. His ember eyes cast about intently, trying to see if he could spot his son.
Keilo & Kanan
Kanan came bounding full speed towards his parents, with his brushy tail streaked straight out behind him and his tongue lolling from his open jaws. He nearly tackled Keilo while nuzzling and licking his muzzle. Then he showered his mother with the same affection, overjoyed at having found them. He hadn't lost his outgoing and mischevious nature, but he always wanted to be with his family. And unlike Kouji and Umay, Kanan wasn't quite as good at looking out for himself.
Keilo stood regally, but flashed a wide smile at his son, and then a look to his mate. His son was so hyper at the moment that Keilo failed to recognize that anything was wrong with him. "Are your sisters and brother with you?" he asked, looking in the direction where Kanan came from. Kanan looked back to his dad, "Lana and Vevisca are with me. We found some ducks to eat." he pointed out proudly.
Vatoni*Kiolana
Vatoni smiled happily at her son and showed the same affection to him. She didn't reconize tha their son was sick either, until she saw Lana coming.
Kiolana fallowed her brother, but she wobbled fealing dizzy. She licked both her parents on the maw and sighed with a smile. Her heart was beating faster and she couldn't see clearly.
Vatoni looked anxiously at her daughter," Lana, what's wrong??" She asked worriedly. Kiolana shook her head, "nothing, I'm just a bit tired.."
Keilo & Kanan
As Kanan settled down more, he too showed the same symptoms of his sister. The wolf shook his head and blinked his eyes, "Yeah, we've just been wondering around so much. Maybe we ate too fast." he offered, although every wolf bolted down their meals like they had.
Keilo looked worriedly from his daughter to his son, but figured that they must just be exhausted. "We should really find a shelter, I think." he pointed out again, standing. He felt terribly vulnerable out here in the prairie with his mate wounded and now two of their offspring acting sickly.
Vatoni*Kiolana
Like her mate she was very worried about their pups, and she didn't believe Kanan when he said that they had at to fast, "Well, if you two do not start to feel better, we will go to the Woodland Farm, maybe the lady can help you." She said, nuzzling them both. She nodded when her mate said that they should find shelter, "Yes, maybe the Croal Mountains?" She said. Her leg ached but her tail wasn't hurting any more, and it would feel good to rest.
Kiolana sighed and blinked her eyes, trying to see clearly. "Ok mom, but where fine." She said, trying to reassure her parents, but she wasn't so sure herself. She noticed her mother's leg and took in a breath, "What happened?"
Vatoni shook her head, "Nothing darling, it's nothing, I'm fine." She said with a smile.
Keilo & Kanan
Keilo nodded to both remarks; about the pups going to Woodland Farm if they didn't feel better, and about going to the mountains. "Are you feeling alright to travel now?" he questioned both his pups and his mate, for he worried about them all despite what they said.
Kanan wasn't the most detail oriented and so hadn't noticed his mother's condition until Kiolana pointed it out. "Mother! You'd better be careful." he yipped. He family was very dear to him. Kanan looked up at his dad then, blinking a few times against the blurriness of his eyes, "I'm ready to go."
Vevisca
Vevisca had approached and stood cleaning the blood from his muzzle. He brushed a feather off the side of his mouth and looked pleasantly at the others. His body was lowered slightly because he still respected Vatoni and Keilo as his superiors, even if they weren't in a pack anymore.
Vatoni*Kiolana
Vatoni nodded, "I'm fine Keilo, don't worry." She said with a smile. She still worried over their pups and when she saw Vevisca's eye her worry grew, "What happened Vevisca?" She asked worriedly.
Kiolana sighed, "I'm ready to go to." She said, sitting down she felt her heart start to beat faster, just another one of the side effects from eating the ducks.
Vevisca
He dipped his head lower, "There was a fight at the Ruins. One of Aaka's allies did it..." he snarled quietly then shook his head. "It's nothing serious." Vevisca said, half in lie. The injury wasn't life-threatning, but it destroyed his eye. As he stood there, waiting to go, he noticed his heart begin to race slightly, but he ignored it.
Keilo & Kanan
Keilo looked to Vevisca and then to the others. He was glad that they were all together at least, and hopefully they would get away from the rivalry between Aaka and Cortinarri. "We'd better get going now." he smiled faintly to encourage the others. Slowly, he headed for the Croal Mountains.
Kanan padded behind his father, blinking his eyes a bit more than usual because he was annoyed that his vision wasn't quite right. Every now and then he brush a paw over his face, although it did him no good.
Vatoni*Kiolana
Vatoni nodded and fallowed her mate, making sure that Kanan, Kiolana and Vevisca fallowed.
Kiolana walked beside of her brother, bumping into him everynow and then because of her vision.
