Azra
The 3 year old female wandered the fields, her small body hidden by the terrian. In the corner of her eye she saw a slight movement, the mouse gave itself away. She stopped, but did not look at it. Suddenly she pounced, missing it by inches. She bounded after the terrified mouse, her fur whipping in the air. She was not hunting, for she had already ate, but enjoyed chasing small prey nevertheless. The mouse started down a hole, in a desperate dash, she pounched onto the hole, but the mouse was already gone. She jumped up, her heart beating slightly from the fun. She looked about her, wondering if any other wolves were near...
Tesla
Look at me, I'm young and bold. Even though I may be growin' old,I'm never slowin' down.
The dark colored brute padded into the terra, tongue lolling from the side of his mouth contently. His ears were cocked high, although he was oblivious to most around him; he was a lanky male, though swift and cunning...but his boldness, arrogance and pride sometimes caused him trouble.
He scented the femme upon the air and gleefully trotted toward her. Always looking for some fun, and, since his seasons were begining to grow deeper, perhaps even a mate. He was nearing the ripe age of 3, and for him, that meant the time of settling down; which he dared not want to do.
Goin' down on a flight to nowhere.
Goin' down, gettin' nowhere fast.
Goin' down, I'm on a flight to nowhere.
Goin' down, goin' down, goin' down.
Azra
She croached as the scent of another wolf came nigh, was he to be trusted? The wolf smelt her, that was for sure, he was coming right to her. She relaxed as she saw his happy mood, it looked as if there was nothing to fear. Small, and a pup at heart, Azra never turned down play, and hardly knew real danger. She has never been in a life-death situation, and would probably not be much of help in one just becuasse of her lack of experience. But because of her funny personality, most could not refuse her attempt to get a smile out of her fellow wolves.
She slipped to one side, watching the male closely. She smiled softly to herself, knowing she got to be kidding herself. The male knew exactly where she was. She lept out of her 'hiding' spot and landed rigth next to him, and instantly swept back to a safer distance. She smiled playfully, he could not be much older then him. She had never thought of 'settling down' or finding a mate, and was certainly not thinking about it know. She was in an extermly playful mood, a playmate would be enough for her. She spoke softly, her voice naturally gentle "Hello, who might you be?"
Tesla
Look at me, I'm young and bold. Even though I may be growin' old,I'm never slowin' down.
He leapt back, a bit startled at her sudden appearance, but let out a wolfish grin, ears perked forward in glee.
His paws dug into the dirt below them, leaving small bullet holes where his claws had been. He was shaggy and rough looking, but was, by wolfish standards, quite handsome. He looked upon the femme with a grin and studied her features. By wolifsh standards, she was lovely as well.
"They call me Tesla," He replied smoothly, giving her a devious grin. "And you might be?"
He asked, tail waggling in friendly alliance.
Goin' down on a flight to nowhere.
Goin' down, gettin' nowhere fast.
Goin' down, I'm on a flight to nowhere.
Goin' down, goin' down, goin' down
Azra
She smiled, wagging her own tail in equal alliance. "Hello Tesla, my name is Azra."
She looked to one side, her attention temporaily lost, as a prairie mouse ran by. She watched it disappear and then gave her attention back to Tesla.
Her brown coat stood aganist the greenish-yellow background. Her shape was small, but nothing was wrong with it. She looked at the ground then back at Tesla. Usually words came easily to her, but she could not think of any. That always happened.
Tesla
Oh the games people play now
Every night and everyday now
"Azra, lovely name." He said, glancing toward the path of the mouse, then back to her.
For a moment he was lost in studying her, the silence slightly soothing; but his body ached for movement and play. He crouched and looked back to her, then sniffed the ground for signs of the mouse. He smirked, and snuck around to the other side, hinting at an ambush of the small creature.
Never meanin' what they say now
Never sayin' what they mean
Azra
Grew almost uncomfortable underneath his gaze, but it soon passed as a new idea came to pass. She watched him silently, her smile growing as she realized the meaning. She silently moved into a crouching position, her senses locking on the mouse. She slowly took a couple steps forward, waiting for a cue for the ambush.
Tesla
He grinned playfully, realizing she understood and waited momentarily, creeping closer, quietly toward the small animal. Gazing back up at her through the grassy land he gave a short quick nod, and began. He would let her get the first move, and made to stop the path of the mouse, spotting one of his hiding holes.
Azra
Azra smiled with a nod and then prepared for the launch. Right before she did the mouse scurried a few steps away. She paused, calculated, then launched herself towards the creature. It scurried away, unknowingly towards Tesla, and she bounded after it, keeping ti in check.
Tesla
He grinned, batting at the mouse who had approached him with a scamper; it rolled a few inches away, back toward the femme. His orbs glanced up at hers, a mischevious twinkle in his eyes. The mouse stood up, disoriented, shook off and stood, looking between the two with frightened eyes.
Azra
Azra grinned, though her whole attention was on the frightened mouse. She crouched low and batted the mouse between her paws, trying to get it as dizzy as she could. She paused for a second, watching the mouse try and fail to run in a straight line. She finally raised a paw and struck, the mouse was now still, though it was still alive. It was temporarily paralyzed. She did not wish to kill it, only because she had already ate and was taught only to kill want she needed to survive, but maybe the other was hungry. She stood away from the still mouse, wagging her tail slightly. She looked up at the other to see if he wanted it.
Tesla
He smiled gratefully up at her, his stomach had begun to wane a little bit, but not enough to cause him discomfort. Nudging the mouse momentarily he lifted it in his maw and swallowed it, not feeling remorse, for that was the circle of life.
He looked back to her, his lanky body loose with satisfaction, and grinned.
"Thank-you," he said, voice smooth and low pitched. "I shall have to return the favor sometime." HE gave a most flirtatious wolfish grin to her, then looked out to the prairie, the grass blew to the side as a wave of air brushed over them
Azra
She nodded her welcome, sweeping her body in the normal upright position. She looked at him over her shoulder as he spoke again, but soon looked away again as she caught the grin. Arza walked two strides away from the male, stopping as the wind hit her face. She looked towards it, taking the information it offered. She twisted around to watch the grass bend out of the wind's path as it continued. She sat and titled her head, though she had company she was getting quite lonely, she missed the pack life. She looked over at Tesla, her eyes suddenly sad, and whinned softly. She did not want to leave her new found friend, but she felt lost without a pack to look out for..
Tesla
He heard her whine and looked at her with concern. He had only known her but a little while, and already he felt a certain bond to her. she was different than most of the females he had met.
"What's wrong?" He asked, creeping up beside her.
He had never longed for the pack life, though he knew if ever he found a mate and a family, one would be beneficial.
Azra
She smiled as he came near, suddenly feeling sheepish of her desires. Azra always lived in a pack life, only leaving when she felt it would be more fun. Now that she was alone, the life became lonely. She decided to ask indirectly, "Do you belong to any pack?" Her eyes had a tint of loniless, though she smiled friendly at him.
Tesla
He returned the smile, but shook his head.
"Ah, no, no pack for me." He said quietly, looking away. "Never much appealed to me."
Azra
She looked away, "oh." The disappointment in her voice was almost deafening. Her ears were faced forward as a new sound came to it. A bird roaming in the grass froze as it noticed Azra's gaze. They locked eyes for a moment, then the bird bolted into the sky. Azra watched, following its path with her muzzle. She titled her head to the side as it began disappearing in the distance. The small femmora stood up, shaking the dust from her pelt. She looked over at Tesla and spoke, "Mind showing me around?" her active mind was soon getting bored with her surroundings.
Tesla
He shifted, a bit uneasy now, her voice had rang loud and clear in his auds; but nodded, agreeing to showing her around, although he to was quite new to the lands here.
"Hm, where would you like to see first?" He inquired, his voice a bit subdued, but his eyes still shone with curious intensity, willing for anything.
Azra
She looked down at her paws, thinking for an answer. This is the only place she has been, she knew no other place. She looked up at the grey sky and smiled, it looked as if snow may fall soon. She shook her winter pelt and looked back to Tesla, a decision made. "How about your favorite place?" She smiled softly, waiting for a response.
Tesla
He opened his maw to speak, then thought better of it, and nodded, the intesnity residing in his eyes once more.
"Ok, let's have at it then, shall we?"
He stood, sniffing the air for a familiar and pleasurable scent. There had to be a place around here he could call his 'favorite'.
Azra
She watched him anxiously, waiting for any clue of the direction they were going.
