Arora
Gray lupine weaved through the swaying grasses, on a journey of no set destination. She was a loner now, and had been so for several weeks since last bidding her family farewell and striking out on her own. The lushness of her storm-tinted coat, growing thicker as winter neared, showed that this fae was handling solo life well. Beneath that smokey pelage, her muscles were lean and strong, honed to perfection by countless hours of hunting and exploring. Arora was in her prime, and even without the backup of a pack, the bold she-wolf was thriving.
Arora came to a boulder that rested in the middle of the sea of prairie grasses and leaped upon it. Her nose twitched and she took in the scents that it brought her, though she didn't honestly know what she was looking for.
Nhevaris
The wind favored Nhevaris this evening, for it had brought him Arora's scent. The midnight hybrid had been downwind when the other claimed her perch atop the boulder, and it didn't take long for the alpha to spot the loner sitting tall above the waving grasses.
Nhev immediately arched his plume and held it high, pairing this dominant posture with an expansion of his dark ruff. Carried on confident steps, he cut a path through the browning grasses and made his way towards the other. When he neared, Nhevaris parted his trap and uttered a short bark to gain her attention.
Arora
Like a hawk perched atop a telephone pole, Arora had kept a vigilant eye on the land around her. Nhevaris hadn't quite made it to her when she turned and happened to see an ebony tail weaving through the foliage. She stood tall, raising her haunches off the cold rock to face this approaching stranger. Unlike him, her tail wasn't raised, but there was nothing in her body language that suggested she was submissive or fearful.
"Hello.." Arora offered at length, feeling secure at nearly two feet above this male, where she had the advantage if he proved dangerous. "Who are you?"
Nhevaris
Her confidence immediately struck him, and a smiling grin tugged at the edge of his expression. "Nhevaris." The male answered back with ease, cocking his head a little to the side as he looked up at the fae atop her rock. "Alpha of the Sonnet Forest. Might I ask your title?"
Arora
"Arora, daughter of Kaina and Starscream. Currently..." Came the she-wolf's reply, with thoughtful hesitation delaying her words. "...of no home." Ambered eyes weren't shy in roving the male below her, noting the luster of his coat and the brightness in his orbs. He looked to be in good condition, much like herself, with a confident head atop those dark shoulders. Her thoughts became analytical, judging this wolf for his potential as a mate, before she even knew his intentions here, or whether he was already bonded to another. "So, Nhevaris of the Sonnet Forest, where is the rest of your pack?"
Nhevaris
A short, faint burst of motion sent his ebony plume swaying upon hearing this she-wolf had no pack. "It's only myself and another, Naiche. I'm not sure where she is at the time, but she is new to our pack." Nhevaris turned his dial, looking past Arora and scoping the field around them. Being a loner had taught him to always be on his guard and keep tabs on his surroundings. Once secure in the fact that there were no humans or other beasts of danger lurking, his attention jumped back to Arora. "If you're looking for a home and a family, you're welcome to join us. With winter approaching the lone life would be a tough one."
Arora
"Consider your offer accepted." She answered easily, "You'll have to show me the way. My father was not keen on drifting far past our borders during hunts, and my time alone hasn't yet taken me to all corners of the Valley." Wolfess sprung down from her perch, and was quickly swallowed up by the tall blades of grass. She pushed her muzzle forward to break through a thick stand of the stuff, until she could again see her new partner.
Nhevaris
He stepped back to allow her space to leap down, and kept his head raised to better see over the grasses. "It's not so far from here. I think you'll like the place." Nhevaris sidestepped and turned from Arora, orienting himself in the direction of home. He then bounded forward, pressing through the prairie to lead his new packmate to their territory.
