Assasini
He sat, and watched solemnly as yet another two legger walked away into the dawn. It was too early still for his looming body to even cast a shadow on the soil, not that a shadow was needed to really emphasize his true mass. His enormous skull was cocked gently to the left, an almost bored expression plastered across his face. His deep golden eyes looked what could be mistaken as depressed. But, no, he was too used to this by now to be depressed. Perhaps bitter was a better phrase.
This time they had only had him for two sunsets. That was it. That was a record really. All these daft two leggers looking for some pretty, showy dog, they go out and buy him to show his high class fur off to all their rich friends. But none of them have the sense to actually train the animal, to have patience. So, the minute they realize his true pedigree characteristic, he's booted right out the door. Though, it is quite hard to simply boot a dog his size being an alaskan malamut/russian wolf mix. He's bigger than your average mastiff and taller than your usual great dane. The pretty boy fur just has that unfortunate effect of dulling that enormous reality.
So here again he was. The truck hauling chain looped around his neck should have been heavy, it should have looked huge. But not compared to his massive size, it made the chain look like some every day small dog yard chain. It did however do its job and kept Assasini rooted firmly in that particular area where that particular damn two legger had decided to leave him. Who knew how long it would be before anyone found him this time, the two legger had chosen a nice little secluded area with ridiculously tall grasses to hide him in. Then again.. perhaps that was the whole idea, for no one to find him. After all, this particular two legged animal had not taken Assasini's attitude very lightly and had attempted to beat some sense into him.. this of course had simply made matters worse.
A bead of blood joined the stream that had been running down his shoulder as he stood up to at least move around and try to find a more comfortable postition. He drug the chain without notice across the hardened rock beneath him only paying a nip or two or a swat at the thing, just in case it wasn't all that secure.
Ryan
Ryan had been taking a walk in the prairie. His eyes full alert for any signs of any animal. As soon as he spotted a dog who had a chain around his neck, Ryan simply walked over and bent down towards the dog. He then slowly walked towards where he was chained. He lifted his leg and started pounding on the chain, trying to break it. After wards he walked over to the dog and looked at him, kneeling down. He let him sniff his hand before petting him. He reached for the chain being careful, he took the chain and tried to slip it off him. He then sat and looked at him thinking what to do.
Assasini
He hadn't had long to wait apparently. Assasini sat bolt upright and stock still as he listened to the footsteps that steadily approached. He pulled back his leather bound lips, exposing his ivory fangs and standing up to his full height. He watched in complete shock as some strange two legger walked right the hell up to him, not even seeming to notice his great size or vicious actions. This set the great brute right on his rump left to simply stare dumbfounded at the two legger. His golden eyes shone in astonishment as the man silently made a meager attempt to break the chain via heavy boot pounding and then resorted to allowing Assasini to sniff him (as he was growling very deeply in his throat of course) and then of all things pet him.
The dog was outright confused, no human had ever treated him or apporached him so carelessly. Was the being simply dumb? or did he just not care? Assasini didn't get it at all. He watched in utter curiosity now as the man attempted to slip the chain over his oversized head.
Maybe the man had never encountered anything other than a sweet dog? To test his theory Assasini let out a ferocious, throaty snarl and made a snap at the human, straining on the chain as soon as the human had sat down in front of him. He frankly matched the man in size, his bulk overpowering the human's.
Ryan
Ryan looked at the dog. ''Do you want off the damn chain or not?'' he said, kind of harsh. He wasnt going to go through a dog as this one die on a chain. He looked strait in the eyes of him. He yet again made to slip the chain off his neck. This time, he stopped. It suddenly hit him. He got up and walked to where he was chained up. Looking around he disappeared but reappeared with a big sledge hammer. He then brought it where he could hit the chain close to his rump. He was little ways off from it. He then brought it to a hitting position. Doing a big strong over thing. He hit the chain and made several attempts to break it. After he looked at the dog to see his reaction if the chain had broken. He whistled slightly and made one more attempt.
Assasini
After he had let out his mini temper tantrum Assini once again sat down, staring haughtily at the two legger. If that didn't get a reaction, there was something wrong with that man. But, it did get a reaction. Assasini stared at the human when he was spoken to by the man. It had a harsh tone to it and Assasini got the sense that the man wasn't just some idiot, he was actually trying to accomplish something here. The beast however remained uneasy as he watched the man think. It wasn't until the two legger looked him directly in the eyes that Assasini sat right back down and decided to wait patiently for the man to do whatever the hell he was going to do.
The canine watched with nothing but curiosity now as the man again tried to slip the chain over his oversized cranium, this time however, he stopped half way and suddenly just walked away.
Assasini was struck dumb again... did the guy just give up? The dog sat there a moment just staring with his vibrant yellow eyes at the exact spot where the odd two legger had dissapeared. When the man reapeared just as suddenly Assasini couldn't help it, he let slip a small whine. The beast immediatly shook his head in self shock, what the hell kind of sound was that. Then he noticed the large structure in the guys hand.
The vivid image of the previous two legger smacking him with the very chain he wore on his neck played out quickly in his mind and he cowered. To see such a large animal cower, oh the shame that washed over Assasini at his own reaction. The brute watched in horror as the man appoached and lifted the contraption. Assasini shut his eyes waiting for the blow, only to feel a sudden tug on the chain.
He turned his head to see the contraption had made contact with the chain. His yellow eyes widened in shock. Was this guy trying to break it?! He watched as the man tried several more times, with each blow the chain was weekened. The man then stopped and looked at Assasini, who then stood up, turned 90 degrees and plopped himself right back down with the chain splayed out in front of him. he then leaned back putting pressure on the chain. Yes, one more hit should do it. There was a pain in his shoulder now but he tried to ignore it as he awaited the mans final strike.
Ryan
He let a slight smile spread across his mouth. He then took the sledge hammer and made on more blow. He saw as the chain broke he dropped the sledge hammer. He looked at the dog and dropped to his knees ''Not all humans are as mean as you think. Theres some like me and their are cruel ones like the one who chained you up'' he said quietly. He wouldnt bare to live if yet another animal had died under his very eyes. He looked at him. ''Well, you can either come with me, and I can remove the rest of the chain. Or you can go somewhere else and let another one deal with it.'' he said. He reached his hand out and petted the dog. He smiled a little but it faded remembering his last dog. The dog he had had run away. Her name had been blue and she was a wolf/husky malamute. Now he didnt have any pet he could care for. He shook his head.
Assasini
The final hit was what did it. The heavy hauling chain shattered where the man had repeatedly hit the chain and the tension that Assasini had been creating went with it. It sent the canine nearly sprawling causeing now even more pain to sear through his shoulder. He let out a small huff and shook himself to get the nerves to settle a bit. The last thing he needed was for any two legger to think him weak.
He froze when the man dropped the tool he had been using and fell to his knees in front of the animal. Assasini's glassy yellow orbs stared right into the man as he spoke. His voice was calmer now and though Assasini didn't really understand what the guy was actually saying he could sense that the man was still trying to help him and didn't really mean the beast any harm. In fact, he still had made no visible signs that he even realized how large Assasini was.. nor did he really seem to care about the canine's looks. He also didn't seem to notice the still oozing wound on his shoulder. Maybe the guy just wasn't very insightful? The brute sighed. Oh well, might as well stick with the two legger. Maybe he had some way of getting the rest of the still weighty chain off his neck. In fact it had begun to dig in. Assasini himselgg might be able to shoulder the weight of the chain but his flesh couldnt and the chain had already begun to cut savagely into the skin.
So, it was decided, Assasini was going to stick with the guy, for now at least. Not that he was really expecting it to last too long.
Ryan
He got up and picked up the rest of the chain. It was long enough for him to carry it . Just to give the dog a little bit of weight off his shoulders. He led the dog as he did he thought of a name to call him just so he wouldnt just call his 'dog'. He was walking up to the truck and he said something aloud ''Assasini'' he said. He opened the passenger door and let him jump up. He then closed the door and went around to the drivers side. He got in and started the truck. Rolling down the windows for he had no AC. He also had no music. He looked over at Assasini. He then started off towards The Unknown Corral. Every so often he looked over at him and back at the road as they drove down the street.
