*Coyotes?*
The sounds of coyotes rose up from from a small ravien. They sounded like they were feeding on something; but their voices were odd... there was no scent of blood nor canid, but the voices were loud enough to hear afar.
Buddy
Buddy heard the sounds. What are they howling about? he wondered. He followed the noise to see what was going on
*Dart*
As he got near, the loud sound of a gun ripped through the air. A dark struck Buddy in the shoulder! It's hard to tell just where it came from, but obviously somewhere near the coyote noises. Buddy will be unconscious with a few minutes.
As for the coyotes, there are none. A closer inspection will reveal that a small black box is hidden in the ravien; and from that, the noises are coming from.
Buddy
Buddy growled savagely and took thedart out of his shoulder. But it was already starting to work its magic. He began to feel drowsy. Curse his curious nature
*Human*
After waiting a moment, a human stood up. She had been hiding in a thick stand of grasses and shrubs at the far end of the ravien. She was carrying some large case in one hand as she began to approach the dazed canine. But she had to wait until he was completely out before she got too close.
Buddy
Buddy tried to get up. He had one paw under him. He then saw the human. He snarled quietly. It would have been louder but he just couldnt seem to think....His foot slipped from under him and he hit the ground. He was completly out
*Human*
The human knelt down by the black wolf. She opened up her case and took out a needle. From a vein in his front leg, she drew some blood and filled some small tubes with it for later studies. She checked his eyes, teeth, and ears, then took measurments. She took a radio collar and fastened it around his neck tight enough so it wouldn't slip off yet loose enough so it would squeeze his neck. It was mostly made of a tough leather, but a metal band was embeded within it, making it impossible to chew through. Then the lady inserted a small chip in his scruff. Buddy was very lucky, for the most part. Studies were being conducted on the wolf population to see if hybrids were being born in the wild and disrupting the wolf's gene pool.
With her work done, the lady backed off and waited to make sure Buddy woke up alright.
Buddy
Buddy awoke slightly groggy. He shook his head. He then saw the human. He snarled savagely. He then felt the collar. He trited to get it off. He snarled when he couldnt. He then saw Aaka appear. He walked unsteadily to her. He then noticed she was limping. What was wrong with her?
Aaka limped to Buddy. She hadnt seen the human yet. But she looked up. She saw the lady and froze. She didnt know her. She hoped they hadnt come for her. Buddy was the least of her worries. She had already been helped. Had someone followed her? She couldnt run fast. She knew she would be an easy target.
Storm came to Aaka's side. He tensed at the human. He could dodge her. Kill her. But he truly didnt want to. He knew Aaka would if she wasnt hurt though. He was actually glad she was.
*Human*
The lady was nervous about their approach, but saw this as a good opportunity to collect more data. Letting out a deep sigh, she leveled her dart gun at Aaka, then fired... She didn't know that Aaka had only recently been tranquilized, or she probably wouldn't have tried to dart her this time. Too much sedation could be fatal.
Buddy Storm Warning and Aaka
Instead Storm jumped in fron of Aaka and took the dart. He knew about the sedation. Within moments he felt himself give way....
Aaka let out a yelp of surprise and pain as she leaped back. She had landed on her bad leg. She lay down and curled into a ball and willed the pain to go away. Her shoulder was in plain view of the women now.She could see the reasent stitching.
*Human*
Using her binoculars, she could see that she had obviously missed Aaka, although the wolf had curled up on the ground. And more so, this wolfess was injured and had stitches and bandages! What a surprise! "Oh, I know...." The lady said quietly to herself. "The old woman in the woods; I've heard of her. Must be helping these wolves." she concluded. Taking up a different 'gun', she shot a bright flare in the air, trying to frighten off Buddy whom she didn't want to sedate again. Very slowy, she began to approach the three. She had to make sure Buddy scampered off at a good distance and that Aaka wasn't aggressive.
Buddy Storm Warning and Aaka
Buddy jumped back but didnt leave. Aaka stood up and snarled. She shook her head. The pain was still there. But she would ignore it. When the women came closer she growled. She wasnt going to let her come near Storm
*Human*
The lady slowly began to back off, seeing that the other two weren't frightened enough to run away from her. She wouldn't risk her life to collect data on the unonscious wolf. Instead, she retreated to her originial hiding spot and picked up a camera to take photos of them.
Buddy Storm Warning and Aaka
Aaka remained where she was. Until something slammed into her making her leap up. She then saw Sasha. She immediatly relazed. Sasha may not be a wolf but she was tough. She listened as she heard about the fight in the sedge creek territory. Then Sasha departed. Aaka went over to Storm and started to lick his face to wake him. She began to worry. Why wouldnt he get up? She made a noise between a bark and a howl and backed up. She began to look around worriedly. She then heard the womens camera. She snarled and stalked close to the bush and glared. She knew where the women had gone. She tensed ready for anything. She had fight in her. For that was her spirit. But her shoulder didnt give her the mobility she needed
*Human*
The lady slowly stood up, hoping to intimidate Aaka while not frightening or surprising her so much that she felt she had to attack. The lady knew darting Aaka would do no good at the moment; the wolf was too close and could easily kill her before the dart knocked her out. And anyway, a dart might just provoke an attack. She waved her hands in the air and shouted at Aaka, trying to make her back off.
Aaka
Lucky for the woman Aaka wasnt hungry. But she was hurt. She lowered her body instictively in case the wmen came any closer. She was ready to attack. But she wouldnt. She was to smart for that
Buddy growled at the woman but backed off a ways. He was far from Aaka and he was confused. Should he help her? Or should he run? He stayed where he was waiting for a signal
*Human*
The human picked up the flare gun again, holding it ready to fire. She began to approach Storm Warning now while keeping her attnetion focused between Aaka and Buddy. She attempted to get next to the sedated wolf...
Buddy Storm Warning and Aaka
Aaka got up painfully. She wqas slower than the human. She growled at herself for this. God her shoulder hurt. She snarled at the women as she got next to Storm she growled even loufer. Shhe saw the flare gun. She wouldnt run. She'd die. She'd die with honor. Besides. She ahd been in many fights. Hardly ever coming out with a scratch. But it was different now. It was humiliating. She stayed next to Storm and stared at the women angrily yet cooly.
Buddy was confused. He wanted this thing of his neck. He walked boldly up to the women and sat in front of her less than three feet away. His eyes were warm unlike Aaka's. He didnt want to attack. Yet. He would attack if Aaka told him too. He cocked his head at the women and barked. "Get this thing of me! I dont like it!"
*Human*
The woman backed off slowly once more when the others refused to relent. They're far too bold! I'll get myself killed if I press them further. she thought to herself. At least she had succeeding in getting data from Buddy. She'd just have to try again somewhere else. The lady continued to walk away, but walking backwards so she could see the wolves. She was heading for her vehicle hidden quite far the ravien.
