|.the tawny feline slunk silently through the tall grasses, black tipped audits pinned loosely against her skull. her green eyes were narrowed, and she glanced about nervously, for even though the scents of humans here were old, they made her nervous. her large paws were silent as she padded through the prairie, watching for anything to kill and eat, for she was quite hungry...|
*Prey*
The scent of white-tailed deer comes faint on the breeze. The scent, if followed, will lead to a small brook where a doe and her two half-grown fawns are grazing around.
Rabbits are also numerous this year. A buck rabbit lounges in a patch of dusty ground, basking in the sun. He's many yards away, but his scent will be easy to follow.

|.the tawny feline twitched her black tipped tail, and glanced about nervously. she had caught the light scent of her favorite meal, deer, but she knew it could be a trap. silent, she padded through the dense forest, coming upon the trio in silence. she watched them for a moment, glancing about, trying to decide what to do...
*Deer*
The doe was always on the lookout for danger. She had spotted the faintest of movements in the dense timberline and froze. Her two fawns caught on to the danger and lifted their heads to stare in the direction of the forest as well. None had seen the cougar, but it would take patience before their fear faded and they diregarded the movement.

|.the feline saw the doe lift her head and freeze, and her green eyes narrowed. silently, she lowered herself to the ground, crouched. she knew that she would have to wait. she twitched her tail once before becoming completely still, a ghost in the dark shadows of the forest...
*Deer*
One of the youngsters took a few steps closer to the forest, but was checked by a quick call from his mother. Quickly he scampered back. After a few long moments, the doe sniffed the breeze and found no alarming scents. They all three went back to feeding again.

|.the feline gathered her muscular hind limbs under her as the first fawn neared her, but restrained herself at the sound of the doe's call. she settled back slightly, green eyes watching the movements of each deer. which one? her black-tipped ears flicked forward. perhaps that youngster, the one nearest to her. she gave a wicked smile as she gathered herself, readying for a leap. suddenly she let herself fly, dashing out of the forest, a quiet snarl leaving her mouth. she immediately went for the first fawn, and she leapt for it's back, fangs bared, searching for the base of the fawn's head, hoping to kill it quickly...|
*Deer*
The doe gave an alarm cry and spun around when she saw the cougar attack. Her white tail was flung up as she dashed away, followed quickly by one fawn.
The other fawn didn't turn quick enough to flee. The feline hits her mark with deadly accuracy and both hit the ground. Her fangs connect just behind the skull and easily snap the spine. The the young deer is killed instantly.

|.the feline, knowing the fawn was dead, stopped her attack and glanced about warily. she knew that other animals could be lurking about, and she wasn't the sharing type. she grabbed the fawn and drug it into the woods, then began to eat, gorging herself on the fresh meat.|
