Lir

Lir had been wondering endlessly. To him he felt that he had been wandering for an eternity. He knew he couln't stop to rest for long because he knew that the lands were not safe especially with all the violence and hostility that has been escalating with the animals. Lir had a feeling that this violence would soon become a never ending war between the lands.

He hadn’t been ready to leave the bay. It was so soothing. His body still dripped the salt water of the ocean, and his eyes were still stingingly numb from the minerals in the water.
He’d go back, of course.

The bay was his home.

Now he walked smoothly over the grassy knolls that spanned out across the prairie. He wasn’t really looking for anything, but anything would do.
It didn’t take much to entertain him, but he got bored of everything easily.

His reddish eyes were dull in shine, for the water always had this affect on them. He didn’t mind.

Resurrection kept his head low, streamline with the rest of his grulla body. There was faint noises all around him, but he heard as if his ears were stuffed with cotton. Water-ear. A usual nuisance, but a comfort to him.

There was atension blanketing the land, but he had no reason to acknowledge it. It was between the stupid, power-hungry lesser of the land. How pathetic…

Then a bright yellow body came into his blurry vision and the stallion halted. He let his eyes focus, and then he stared at the animal. Something seemed to be on his mind.
Resurrection snorted, intrigued by the wild dog. "What are we doing so far from home, friend?"

Lir

All of a sudden Lir came to a halt. At first he was startled by this mysterious and friendly horse. Hmmph..friendly The word friendly amused him and yet it felt so foreign. He hadnt encountered a friendly creature in ages.

Lir looked around the tall grassy sorrounding. He wasn't sure he was talking to him. The wind brought the grassy landscape come to life. He saw no one but him and the red eyed horse.

Are you....are you talking to me?

His docile eyes wandered over the body of the wild dog; his spotted coat a beautiful canvas of African color. His deep blue eyes slowly lose the glazed coating and begin to shine. Now he can see clearly.

Nostrils flare to inhale the arid scent. He really is far from home.
Resurrection tossed his head, tangled mats of mane flung up, and his ears flattened. He really hated the heat, but now as autumn came creeping up, Res was always in a much better mood. In the summer you could rarely find him far from the beaches of the Valley.

As the winds strengthened around them, chills began to take hold over his body. It was very soothing. Anything that reminded him of the waters he loved so much were calming.

Looking back to the wild dog, he flicked an ear forward to catch his words. Raising an invisible brow, Res scoffed and slowly walked forward, head lowered to the dog’s height.

"Well, yes. There is no one else about but us. I am Resurrection, son of Sol and Dovasary. Who are you, stranger? You do not smell of these lands." His accusation wasn’t hostile, just curious. He turned his head slightly to catch the breeze that had slowly began to die.

Lir

The wild dog now knew that this was a noble and curious horse. His ears went up and his tail started to wag uncontrollably. He hadn't felt welcome by a creature in ages.
"My name is Lir. I was born in the savannah, but I dont really have a stable home since.... I prefer to wander in to different lands. It's not safe."
Lir quickly stopped himself from saying more than he had to about what used to be his home. About the tragedy that took him and the other creatures that lived in the savannah by surprise and had forced him to always be on the go. He could keep talking to the gentle creature since he hadn't spoken to a friendly creature in a long time.

The dog's good nature was gratifying. Res let a small smile cross his lips as he looked at the dog. "Lir? That is a good strong name, my friend."

The grulla dun horse watched the speckled dog as he recollected on why he was, indeed, so far from home. Although Res didn't quite understand, him being a horse, and a sea-dwelling-lover at that, he felt for Lir; the constant wandering seemed to affect him greatly.

The sun was lowly casted in the late afternoon sky now; its rays dimming in both warmth and color. Res turned his muscled neck up to the sky. His body ached, as it usually did when he stayed too long from water. His passion for it drove him everywhere he went; he could travel the world and it would not ail him unless, of course, there was no body of water closeby.

Returning his deep sapphire eyes to the wild dog, he figured, why not wander together? It wasn't safe for smaller creatures like him, and Res could definately have a hard time taking on a Haunters' warrior elephant. Looking around casually, the marine equine cleared his throat and shuffled his forehoof around on the ground a bit.

"Say Lir...figuring you don't have a permanent home, and I'm quite the vagabond myself, why not keep each other company? So long as there is a lake or river nearby. This horse needs his water," he chuckled.

Lir

The gentle dog's tail began to wag uncontrollably. He looked up at the friendly horse, as he was showered in a dim gold light as the sun began to get swallowed by the sea. At last he had found a freindly companion to wander with, no longer would he be condemned to wander alone.
"Really? That's a great idea! And I wouldn't mind dwelling near water, it's very relaxing. We just have to be careful not to stumble upon the shadow haunters. They're not very friendly.."
As the eager dog welocomed his new friend , he tried to ignore the troubles and dangers they might face.

Lir's words did not startle Res. No, not in the least. He had encountered his fair share of Haunters. They had pilaged his home, attacked his herd, and left him for dead in the river the valley was famous for. He had drifted, alive but yet somewhat dead, out to sea, and had ended up in Orca Bay.

The whales had found his limp colt body and floated him to shore, body tinted blue as the bay. He recieved medicines and healing from many sea dwellers, or coast residents. They all took care of him and restored him. He grew into a fine stallion.

Now, at four years old, his body had never rid itself of the bluish hue that had made the colt look so hopeless, drifting in the water. Nothing much changed about him other than his hatred for the Haunters. Once word had gotten to him of his family, his entire being turned bitter, vengeful, and he was often in a terrible mood. But it had been months since he had come face-to-face with another wretch, so he wasn't so down.

Now that he had found a companion, it livened him up even more. His eyes lost some of their red, and he seemed to breathe easier, as if he could smell the ocean nearby. His lifted his head, nostrils flaring to take it all in. "The Haunters are crude creatures, unnatural in their ways. Nearly....human", he spat. "They killed my entire family, destroyed our home. I'd be dead if it wasn't for my mother's quick thinking." The past was always haunting him, for he never got the opportunity to avenge his family. But the time seemed close at hand where he'd be able to.

Lir

He looked up at the horse. He almost seemed like Lir's own relfection cocerning his past. When he had mentioned the terrible fate that his family suffered, it reminded him of his family.
His short, pointy ears went down and his golden tail had stopped wagging.
"You know, you and I...we're not so different after all. I mean we both lost our family and all. But hey! we can start over."
