Carson
Carson padded along silently. She was tired of being alone.Throwing back her head making her blond mane swish in the air.She reared up and let out a loud horse scream. She was calling to other mares. She had no reason to call for stallions. She was a purberd paint mare. She was white with brown splotches and light hazel eyes.A blond mane and tail.
Keiiax
Keiiax (Key-ex) had been dozing, solemnly, near the outskirts of the prairie when she heard a violent scream tear through the calm silence and swish of the area. She blinked rapidly to get rid of the sleep, and shook her head, tossing tassles of ebony mane everywhere. Deep, chocolate eyes swept over the plains, vigilant for the source of the commotion. She was a tad frightened, for she had not planned on congregating with others, even of her own kind. Discouraged to doze out in the open, she lowered her head so that most of her body was covered with the reeds of grass.
Slowly, she walked forward, auds swiveling, until she got within sight of a beautiful paint mare. The golden locks of her mane and tail were dazzling in the midday sun. Still intimidated, she kept a short distance away. Lonliness had kept her cautious.

Carson.
Carson smelling another equine smiled.Turning her head to the source and looking hard she spotted her.It looked like she was scared.Carson smiled sweetly."You can come out child, for you should have no fear of me,"she said voice soft as silk. The other mare was black. She tossed her head sending her blond mane toward the sun making it sparkle in the sun.
Keiiax
The words that entered her auds felt as reassuring and comforting as velvet. They stilled her quickening heart rate and eased her nerves. Immediately, the mare reminded her of her grandmother, who raised her instead of her mother. She was very soft-spoken and never raised her voice, even when strangers entered her territory. Keiiax was so overwhelmed by tranquility, before she even knew what was happening, she had stepped out of the tallest reeds so that the mare could see her.
Keiiax was still stunned by how beautiful the other horse was. She had never seen such markings before. Those of her breed were never distinguished by beautiful patterns such as the one before her. Dipping her head slightly, she approached, taking her time. Auds were drawn tight against her head, and her witherns bristled slightly with anticipation. When she was a few yards away from the elder mare, she halted, and nickered softly, her warm breath drifting up. The snow around her legs numbed her, but she couldn't tell. She was numb all over.
Carson
Carson smiled when the younger mare came forword."Hello youngin,i'm Carson and you are,"she asked her voice still soft as silk. She flicked her blond tail making it light up dazzling bright. Her coat shone beutifuly in the sun making her look more white than her brown spots. Her light hazle eyes turned light green a bit. They looked trustingly and beautiful.
Keiiax
Keiiax was a bit skeptical of the mare because no one had shown her kindness since her band had seperated. Strangers were just as wary of her as she was of them, so she couldn't understand why this mare was showing her such a warm greeting.
However, despite the gut feeling to flee, she decided that conversing with the mare couldn't hurt. Once she heard the name, she was even more reassured that nothing negative would befall her. The maternal vibe that radiated from Carson was too heart-warming. Clearing her throat gently, Keiiax spoke the first words she had said in over a year. "My name is Keiiax. You're...not going to hurt me, are you?"
Carson
Carson nickered softly."Hello Keiiax, and i couldn't even dream of hurting such a young horse,"she said voice still soft. She dipped her head to the younger horse elgently."How long have you been alone,"she asked her.A smile still on her face. She flicked her tail still.Suddenly she flicked so hard it hit her shoulder and made it dazzle their like a diamond for a heartbeat.
Keiiax
The young mare's skin tickled as the elder horse dipped her head towards her. Nares flared and inhaled the other's scent. It smelled like kindness, if there was a such a scent. Keiiax felt foolish standing next to the beautiful mare, for her coat was as dark as night, nothing special about it. Shifting her weight uncomfortably, she turned her head away, angling it and sighing. "When my band was scattered, it was my grandmother and I on our own for a year. Then, when she passed away when I was two, I kept moving on. I've been alone ever since.
Carson
Carson smiled at the other mare."I'm sorry to hear that.Your more than welcome to travel with me if you like,"she said soft as silk. She nickered at the younger mare softly. She thought that younger mare looked mangneficent. She had never seen a black horse before. Her hazel eyes shimmered like diamonds.
Keiiax
A companion? That was more than Keiiax could have hoped for. She as tired, no, exhausted from traveling alone. Always having to watch her own back and forefront for danger. Those restless, cold, lonely nights ate at her despite her denial.
The young mare didn't think she could have stumbled upon better luck. This mare, Carson, reminded her of her grandmother so much, it was unsettling. A sliver of joy crept through her heart, and her insides turned warm. She'd no long be alone.
Turning back to the gorgeous paint, she gave a small tug at her velvet lips and smiled. Tossing her head slightly, she laughed, the first time in a long time. "I'd love to accompany you. It'd be the best thing ever."
Carson
Carson smiled when she said yes.She dipped her head to her again."Thank you young Keiiax,"she said. She was pleased that she have a compainion now."I'm going down to the stream for a drink,if you like to come,"she said softly. She probly go for a quick swim too.Silently she waited for an answer.
Keiiax
Nickering softly, more to herself than to Carson, she nodded gently and moved to the mare's side. The snow wasn't too deep, and would make the water from the stream refreshing and chilled. Keiiax was worried about what would happen to her when it was time to move on, because she had never found a permanent home before. Maybe this time was different.
Carson
Carson took off at a trot hopping Keiiax could keep up.Her legs went smoothlu over the ground.Clouds of mist blew from her nose as she breath. It formed around her white face. When she made it to the water she took a drank. Then quick as a flash she dipped her head under and then brought it back. She was refreshing herself. Her face shined when the sun hit her face. The water falling from her face looked like dimaonds."Are you thirsty,"she called to the other mare.
Keiiax
Keiiax slowly lifted her legs and pushed through the drift that surrounded them. The last time she had encountered snow was when she was crossing the mountains with her grandmother....and that journey hadn't ended well.
Snorting, and stamping her hooves as she moved, she tried to keep warm. The numbness was obvious now, and she couldn't see how Carson could stand it. She figured the elder mare was a native to these lands so surely she had grown accustomed. Dipping her head inward, she picked up her pace and brought up the rear around Carson. Lowering her head slowly, she took a small mouthful of water and swallowed. More refreshing than she could have imagined. Deep chocolate eyes looked over at the mare as she refreshed herself. Keiiax wondered what would become of her. DId Carson have a home. If so, would she be welcome?
"This water is very cooling...best I've had.", she stated, and gave a small smile.
Carson
Carson smiled back."Thats good,"she said. She saw that the younger horse was called."Come on we better get to dryer ground,"she said softly. Then she began to lead the way to higher ground. There would be a lot less snow there. When they made it far enough she stopped. The snow was low enough that you could paw through it to the ground.Softly she began to dig at it at a fast pace.Till it was wide neough for two horses to lay coforably.Tucking in her feet she layed down.
Keiiax
The young arabian had started to get the chills so she hapilly followed Carson up the bank where they had come from and onto a high knoll. Curiously, as Carson began to dig at the ground like some sort of fox, Keiiax came around the side to observe. When Carson settled down onto the frozen but less chilling floor, keiiax followed suit, and brought in her legs beneath her. Shaking her mane and body of the ice crystals that started to form from the small falling flakes, Keiiax sighed and looked around her at the scenery. This place didn't seem so horrible.
Carson
Carson smiled at the younger mare."So do you have any other family members,"she asked Keiiax.Although she hadn't told Keiiax yet she was thinking of joining a herd. She'll tell her later, but not right now.It was too cold to be worrying about that. They'll talk about it tommow.
