Saith, a beautiful wolf-hybrid, loped almost leisurely through the tall grasses of the praire. Of course the young hybrid was always alert but today had been a good day so far. Nothing bad had happened and she had reached this new land, Sparkling Creek Valley. The female took a deep sniff of the air, her eyes sweeping over the land infront of her as she looked for any other canines or for some prey. She hadn't eaten in two days because she was constantly on the move but now that she had time she decided that she should hunt. The large hybrid crouched in the tall grass, ears and nose twitching as she listened for the rustling of a creature moving through the grass and searched for the scent of prey.
Finally Saith heard faint rustling off to the right and she sniffed, smelling a rabbit. Her jaws parted and some saliva dripped off her lips as she licked them. Slowly the wolf moved forward, keeping her belly close to the ground and making sure not to step on anything. She had been one of the best hunters back in her old home and she wasn't about to mess up now. Within pouncing distance Saith stopped and waited paitently for the right moment to spring at the rabbit. Her eyes narrowed and she tensed, and then all of a sudden she sprang. A low growl came from her throat as she dug her claws into the rabbits back and then swiftly bit into its neck, killing it quickly.
Triumphantly, Saith carried the plump bunny to a sunny spot and laid down. She put the rabbit between her front paws and dug in.
Nightcrawler
A brilliant sun overhead did little to hide the wolf's ebony pelt as he traveled through the expanse of swaying grasses, so he was on high alert. In the four years he had lived in this Valley, he had his fair-share of human encounters. Night had learned to hate those darts that could make you fall asleep, or those wreched traps that gripped your paw and refused to let go. Worse yet, the bullets... how many had he seen die from them? The most recent victims had been Jessie, Dusty, and their son Drac, leaving little Fyre without his parents and his brother. Night growled lightly as he tried to dismiss the images from his head, but it was at least a reminder to him to be on the constant lookout for human dangers.
So caught up on humans at the moment, Night's yellow eyes failed to see a flurry of movement to his side. Tall ears swivelled when a growl was issued, causing the brute to stop dead in his tracks and crouched down. His initial fears were that of hunting dogs, but his nose quickly sorted things out; there was a wolf nearby, and a she-wolf at that.
Relaxing a bit, Nightcrawler remained still and quiet as he let his ears tell him what was going on. She had caught a rabbit... yes, he could smell the blood now, and hear the crunch of bones.
Deciding to take the initiative, Nightcrawler stood up and began to pad towards Saith, until his form was visible through the tall grasses. "Oh, hi, I-uh.. didn't know anyone was here..." He said with mock surprise.

Saith settled comfortably into the grass with her meal, still keeping an eye out but becoming more relaxed. She still wasn't familiar with the area and she made sure she stayed alert but growing up in the wild she was comfortable just about anywhere. Except one thing Saith would be unprepared for was humans. Back in her old home she hadn't had much contact with the things but here it seemed like things were different. She wasn't as human wise as some of the wolves that had grown up here but she still knew to stay away and that they were enemies.
Saith savored the taste of the rabbit as she swallowed pieces, her teeth stained red with its blood. Her tongue swiped over her lips before she took another bite. At first the smell of the blood drowned out the other wolf's scent but as it got nearer she smelt it clearly. The she-wolf went on alert, the fur on her neck rising as she rose to a crouch over her kill. Her chilling yellow eyes searched the swaying grasses around her for the form of another wolf, wondering whether it was coming to steal or just on accident.
The wolf and shepherd hybrid quickly spun around as the black wolf emerged from the tall grasses. One of her lips raised in a silent growl as she carefully watched Nightcrawler's movements. He seemed friendly enough but you could never be sure, especially in a new place. Saith let out a sigh of relief when he spoke and his tones were friendly. "It's alright."
Saith let the fur on her neck lie flat and she dropped her lip, then stood up in a relaxed manner. She smiled tentatively and her eyes drifted over Nightcrawler's frame, which was built nicely. She smirked a tiny bit and sat down, the rabbit between her front paws. She was basically finished so she scooted the remains of the rabbit out infront of her with a large paw. "Um...would you like any?"
Nightcrawler
Until Saith settled her fur and quieted the snarl, Nightcrawler was careful to keep himself at a respectful distance. Though a majority of those he met were friendly, he had had his fare share of unpleasant encounters; namely with the massive brute Legosa. Ah, but that was a few years back, and his broken leg had mended.
Saith's offering was a pleasant surprise to the black wolf, who offered a generous smile, "Thank you. I guess I am a bit hungry." Stepping forward to accept to meal, the wolf paused a moment before giving a sheepish smile, "I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Nightcrawler, of the Ochotona Mountains Packs."

In her old home Saith had known many wolves that wanted to hurt her, maybe even kill her but here she didn't know anyone. That both comforted and scared the she-wolf. Here she could start over fresh, forget her awful past and yet she had to be careful who she made friends with. If she went against the wrong person all hell could break loose.
Saith noted that the black wolf respected her space and was wary of her when she had been on guard. He was wise and for that he would probably live longer than some of the fools these days. The gray hybrid saw the flicker of surprise on Nightcrawler's face after she offered the rest of the rabbit to him and she smiled at that, her fangs gleaming in the light. "Your welcome, it was my pleasure."
Saith's eerie yellow eyes danced as she looked at Nightcrawler's sheepish smile when he stepped forward to the rabbit. A grin spread across her muzzle and she nodded. "It is nice to meet you Nightcrawler. I'm Saith, I just arrived her not too long ago. Infact, you are the first wolf I have met in the 'Valley. Is your pack well?" The she-wolf watched the other carefully as she tried to make some conversation. She had never been the best at this kind of stuff.
