Vestige
Vestige, the alpha of Aspen Grove, led some of his pack to the Tall Grass Prairie in hope of getting a meal for him and his pack. There were a lot of pups that needed feeding, plus a new mother, so Vestige was determined to bring something back to them. He stopped in some of the longer grass, to try and hide himself from any prey the could spot and target. He waited patiently for the others to arrive whilst he watched for prey.

The light-coated wolfess, Aylen, ran swiftly behind the alpha. She had almost comepletely made up her mind about this pack. The grass of the frosted prarie whipped her legs as she ran, but the fae didn't care. This was fun.
Every so often, the wolfess looked back behind her moving shoulders to look at Absolute. He had been troubled earlier, but she thought most of this had been cleared up. Even so, the fae hoped that Absolute would stay for certain.
Her pillars came to a stop behind Vestige, and she kept her body low, her pools darting around for a target. Her auds were perked and alert, ready to ambush a piece of prey. She hoped for something bigger, such as caribou or a stag, so that the pack could be fed, but sometimes a few rabbits have to do.

Liseli
The white mother loped in quietly behind Aylen, taking up a position near V.estige. This was really going to be a job, with so many to be fed. She kept her easily-spotted white body low, hidden completely in the long grasses as she watched and waited for something to come.
Absolute
He quietly cantered in behind them, eyeing the rest of the pack but he too smiled at the joy of a hunt. His mind was set, he liked this pack. He would stay.
As they stopped he slowed to a trot, then morphed to a prowl. Dark pools staring intently however he let his ears do most of the work as he listened to the grass rub against itself and the little pitter patters of animals beneath the earth. He, too, waited for some prey.
*Musk Oxen*
In search for some better food, a group of seven musk oxen had filtered down from the highlands and made their way across the tall grasses of the prairie. Two adult males, three adult females, and two yearlings who were very near the size of their adult conterparts.
The little group hadn't scent the wolves yet, and were spread out over a few hundered yards grazing on what they could find beneath the snow.
Aylen
The fae smiled, knowing now that Absolute's descision was final. Aylen shook her head slightly and sighed. Her pools were clouded in thought.
Aylen, are you in love?
She asked herself time after time. Funny, it's always the first friendly face you see, isn't it?
Liseli
The white huntress caught the scent at almost the same moment Aylen did, but she remained firmly in her place. To take down a large animal such as this, a good plan was needed, and she did not want to spoil the surprise. Keeping her ears cocked to Vestige, she waited for the signal to attack.
Vestige
Vestige noticed the scent just after Aylen and Liseli. Spotting the herd, the alpha scanned the Oxen, looking for a target. It would be suicide to charge out there without a plan. The alpha thought for a brief few moments before whispering to his pack, his eyes still on the Oxen. Okay, we'll take down one of the younger oxen, but well aim for both if we can. If we have trouble with one, we'll leave the other one. They're smaller, but there should be enough meat to feed the pack. Now, Liseli you come with me, well go for one. Aylen and Absolute, you go for the other. If theres any trouble, just aim for one. I don't want anyone getting seriously hurt out there. Just, be careful.
Locking onto one of the younger Oxen, Vestige tightened his muscles ready to spring. With a quick, sharp nod, Vestige charged out into the open. He charged towards the Oxen like a bullet, before launching himself at the oxen's throat, snapping his jaws shut with as much force as he could muster.
Liseli
Liseli nodded her understanding of how things would go down, and streaked out behind him as he headed for the one Oxen. On the way, she noted horns and heavy hooves that could make this a little dangerous, and so aimed her attack to avoid these. She made her attack much more visible, allowing her white coat to be easily seen streaking toward the oxen. She leapt for one side of the oxen, hoping with her light coloring to distract it from Vestige's more vital attack.
Absolute
He quivered patiently, waiting for the attack. The he whispered to Aylen, "I'll try and distract it, if it works go for something more vital." With that he took off in the grass and around the oxen. Hoping the second youngster would be frozen in suprise by both wolves, just long enough for him to make his move.
He came up on the rear of the second calf. Jaws open and aimed to clamp down on the tender muscle just above the hind hock. As he grabbed the hock he jumped to the side where the other leg would probably plant itself to let the bitten leg kick. While jumping to the side he bit harder and yanked, hoping to tear a tendon and handicap the leg. At the same time, he was hoping the calf would turn its horns on him so that Aylen would have a clear shot at it's throat. he calculated, ready to jump out of the way at last second before the calf would have its horns on him. He also anticipated a kick from the leg he was holding, but he oblivious to the fact if the planted foot should rise.

Aylen nodded her dial slowly at Vestige. She turned smoothly, making sure the grass wouldn't move very much as she did so. Her pools gazed deeply into Absolute's.
Her auds perked, she took in each sound of the prairie. She heard the soft snowing in the outskirts, a couple of rabbits in the southern part. There were some hawks flying over the pack, eyeing them in an eerie way. Beside her she could hear the swaying of the tall, frosty grasses. She could see their white breath trail away together.
Loudest of all, was Absolute's voice. She smiled at him, not listening. Somehow, she knew just what words had been carried of of his lips. She nodded and waited until the wolf left. Carefully, she crept around infront of the calf. She kept her belly low, it brushing the ground with every stride. Fortunately, her pelt was almost white, giving her perfect camoflauge against the frostbitten prairie.
She waited for the perfect time, her yellow pools trained on the calf's neck.
*Musk Oxen*
The herd was spread out from the youngsters. They were almost as big as their adult companions.
The first younger oxen had its back turned to Vestige and Liseli, and so it was oblivious to their silent assult. Vestige's jaws met their mark on the oxen's neck, but didn't quite reach the vital area. However a few jaws movements and he would have its jugular. The calf tried to bellow, but Vestige's grip made it faulter, so the adults hadn't noticed their younger herd-mate being attacked. Liseli managed to get her jaws into the flesh of the oxen's back, making the herbivore stumble form the force of her leap. It stumbled and fell to the ground. The calf bellowed, alerting the herd to the pack's presence. His hooves began to kick violently in an effort to get the predators off him. A sharp kick of the front leg was aimed at Vestige's side. Liseli was surrounded by flailing legs.
The herd began to group up, calling to the younger oxen, but knowing there was little they could do for their fallen comrade. They just watched. One of the male's attempted a false charge, hoping to scare away Vestige and Liseli.
Absolute's teeth sank deeply into the tender muscle of the oxen's rear. With a cry of pain and anger, the oxen swung round as Absolute let go and tried to stab him with his horns. While he was busy with Absolute, the oxen reared, kicking out at the wolf with his sharp hooves. When it landed, it would strike out at Absolute again with its horns, it would be a good time for Aylen to strike...

I waited, rather paitiently, for my chance. My eyes seeking out Absolute before I striked. I hoped that he would be alright. I hoped. But, I had a job to do. I had to hunt for the pack.
My attention turned back to the young ox, and my muscles tightened. When I had an open shot, I lunged powerfully with my hinds, my jaw opening wide and trying to get that fatal place in the youngling's neck.
Vestige
Vestige held on with his jaws as the ox was toppled. He snarled, warning the other oxen to keep back. The alpha attempted to shit his jaws towards the windpipe of jugular to kill his prey. He cast a look to Liseli, hoping she was able to dodge the flailing hooves when one struck him hard in the side. With a yelp the alpha let go, tripping momentarily from the kick. The oxen's mock charge failed to chase away Vestige, as he hadn't noticed it due to the injury he had just sustained. Snarling savagely, he launched himself at the oxen again, trying to crush its windpipe and suffocate it.
Liseli
She was barely able to relish the taste of the young oxen's blood in her jowls before a shooting pain erupted across the front of her body. The oxen's flailing limbs had caught her across the chest and front legs, but it was only a glancing blow. She shifted carefully to through her paws over the oxen's back where they could not be harmed, taking stock of herself. She would be bruised and sore in the morning, but nothing more.
Seeing Vestige tossed to one side, she was worried for a moment, but as he rose she dropped all her weight into the bottom of her body so that the young oxen would not be able to easily rise. This would hopefully give her alphen the needed time to come back to the attack and sever the lifeline.
Absolute
He began a dance around the hooves as they shot past him. He could feel the heat and vibration in the air as they zoomed past him. Then the ox's head came down and swung to the side, knocking Aboslute to the side. He would be bruised, with a small cut, but nothing more. He quickly rose and attacked at the neck as Aylen was doing. Hoping the strength of two wolves would kill the calf quickly.
*Musk Oxen*
Aylen attacked at the right moment. The ox's neck was exposed, so her jaws hit the right place. Gradually, her jaws cut off the calf's airways. Absolute's assult finished off the calf. His jaws caught the jugular. Blood seeped from the calfs nose and mouth. It sunk to the ground. Within a few minutes the oxen was dead.
Vestige managed to regain his hold on the calfs neck due to Liseli pinning the oxen down. Within a few moments, the windpipe was being severed and crushed between the alpah's jaws. The flailing hooves gradually slowed and stopped. The claf wheezed a few more breaths, then his eyes glassed over. The calf was dead.
Vestige
Giving the windpipe a quick sqeeze, just to make sure the oxen was dead, Vestige dropped its throat. He looked over to Absolute and Aylen, only to see their calf was dead aswell. A few injuries had been taken, but they were still on their paws and that was all that mattered. Vestige nodded, a signal for everyone to tuck in.
Once the alpha had eaten his fill, he grabbed the calf's throat, ready to pull it back to the packlands for the others to eat. He waited for the others to finish.
Liseli
Liseli waited for Vestige's nod, and tucked in like the others, though she had always had a small appetite and did not eat much. But it was enough for her, and so she turned and set her teeth into the oxen not far from her alphen's grip, waiting to drag it home to the rest.
Absolute
He ate only a little bit, then grabbed the calf to drag it back.
Aylen
I slowly let go of the kill that Absolute and I made. My mouth was stained with blood as I went in, only to restain it with the 'unwelcoming' crimson.
My teeth ripped at the carcass, eating less than my fill and then grabbing hold of a sturdy place, ready to drag it back.
Absolute
He led the way, just behind the alpha group.
