Vallack and Syrani

To anyone in the sky, it would seem that there was nothing in a certain patch of long grass. The movement would be put down to the slight wind that had picked up across the Prairie.
However to anyone on the ground, they would think that the movement was not natural, which of course, it wasn't. It was actually two very small pups, only about 6 months old, trying their best to find someone, anyone, that could help them.

Vallack, the "older" brother, stumbled ahead of his sibling, puffing and grunting as he jumped between the long grasses trying to see over the top of them.

The pair, a male and female, were only of a medium sized breed; They were Finnish Lapphunds. They were strong and well built, the only downside being that their long fur was getting caught on the longer grasses and the mixture of dead or dying weeds and other foliage that would latch onto them.

Vallack and Syrani looked similar, both had a main coat of black, but Syrani had lighter patches of color than her brother. She had white or light tan splodges on her coat, where as her brother had splashes of tan or golden brown. Come on Syrani! Hurry up, your so slow! A grumble came from behind him as his sister muttered to herself, the quieter one of the pair. A loud yelp suddenly exploded from her as she tumbled to the ground, caught by a bramble in the grass. Vallack looked round, shook his head, and carried on. Come on Syrani. We're almost out of this long grass.
His sister snorted, picking herself up from the dirt. We wouldn't be in such long grass if it wasn't for you. They soon emerged from the longer grass to the Prairie, where they would be visable to the other animals.

To anyone, they would seem to be doing alright, but if you looked close enough, the pair were thin. They needed help, someone to look after them. Anyone.

Pombo

Pombo, a Black Lahore Pigeon, happened to hear the yelp of a young pup. He flew hastily to the location, and spotted two little puppies. He knew that a dog could easily eat a pigeon. But Pombo was too large for a pup to eat, and had an even bigger heart. "If you two need any help, I would be happy to give it to you" He said, trying not to show his fear. He was perching on a small bare bush, just within the pups' reach.

Vallack and Syrani

The two pups hadn't noticed the pidgeon, they had been too busy trying to navigate through the long grass. Vallack was the first to spot the bird. Cocking his head, the canine bounded over to the bird, his tail wagging furiously. Hi! I'm Vallack! This is my sister Syrani.

Syrani sauntered out from the longer grass towards Vallack, with various bits of weed and plant stuck to her coat. Vallack, I... She trailed off however when she saw the bird. Syrani was very suspitious. How could a bird, only a little bit bigger than themselves, help them? Who are you? She questioned, quizzing look on her face.

Vallack was about to answer the birds question, when Syrani arrived. He opened his mouth to speak, but Syrani shot him a look, and so he didn't say anything else. He was happy to agree, wanting help, but Syrani, she wasn't too sure what this bird could do to help.

Pombo

Pombo's dark red eyes were fixed on the pups. He knew that the pups were in need of help, but he still asked them, "Do you need help?" He cocked his head and looked at Syrani. "I am Pombo." He saw the weeds in the female's coat and felt pity for her. "I can find a place for you to stay, if you don't already have one. My wings can carry me far and my eyes can see great detail in the land below." He was hoping that these pups would accept his offer, for he knew it would do them good.

Vallack and Syrani

You know of a place we can stay? Syrani questioned, still doubtful of the help the bird could give them.

Vallack smiled at the bird, stepping towards it. We need help Syrani!, the pup said to his sibling before turning back to the bird. Please help us Pombo.

Pombo

Pombo always seemed to be smiling from the white cere on his bill. "Okay then. Follow me." He flew away slowly, stopping now and then so the pups could catch up.

Sarge/Freefall

Freefall led Sarge through the prairie, and it wasn't long before she spotted some pups and a bird. "Sarge! The puppies look like they don't have any parents!" She said calmly. She had heard the last bit of the conversation and approached the bird and pups.

Sarge didn't say anything for a long time, but eventually blurted out, "We should take care of them!"

Freefall spoke to the pups softly. "Do you have a mom or dad? Or is the bird taking care of you?" She awaited the answer patiently.

Vallack and Syrani

The two pups were about to follow Pombo, when two others arrived. Vallack wagged his tail and was about to speak when Syrani butted in. No, We we're just going to see if we could find help, with the help of this bird.

Vallack was upset by this, feeling bad about leaving them behind. Why don't you come with us? If we don't like it, we could come with you!

Syrani followed Pombo, whilst Vallack waited for Freefall and Sarge, before following his sister.

Sarge/Freefall

Freefall and Sarge said nothing, but walked alongside Vallack and Syrani.
