Kalei

The albino fae slowly padded through the tall grass, her motion slow and timid. This was her first time leaving her familiar home, and though she was reaching her one year mark, she was oblivious to the world around her. Pink eyes blinked as if she really did use them to see, and her nares and harks were working over time. She resembled a fightened deer, unsure if eating is ok because a predater may lurk somewhere unseen. Just like a deer, she did not know what was beyond her, but her reason was pure ignorence. In her world of darkness, she had known only one threat, and it had been as a small pup still using her mother for support. It had been a wolven danger, so to her, the only evil was a few wolves. A few, very rare, select wolves.

Fauve

The dappled mare had been wandering again. Her mate had disappeared, and her son was grown and gone now, and she was alone yet again. She came upon Kalei by sheer accident: the tall grasses had hidden the small pup, and the horse very nearly stepped on her. She reared reflexiveky, first out of fear, but then her eyes focussed and she made a discovery: the wolf was very young, and very blind. Holding her cavall, she managed to remain upright until she had turned enough to let herself come down without hurting her.

Panting a little from the unaccustomed exertion, she spoke softly. You scared the life out of me, little one. I thought I was going to step on you. What is a little one like you doing so far from home.

Kalei

The snowy fae froze at the new scent which she had caught even before the mare could see her. However she wasn't afraid, and because she couldn't se the action of the mare, she was unaware of the situation she had been in. The truth was that she should have moved away from the scent once she caught it, but curiousity and lack of the scent of blood kept her standing still. When the tones met her harks her lids shut, as is trying to absorb the words more clearly. A small smile fell on her lips, the sound of the equines voice different and new. "This is my first time out of the packland. I wanted to see what was beyond the borders" Her plume swayed back and forth, her dial tilted back to 'look' at the tall mare. Despite her inability to see, she knew the tones came from above, and so she looked up politly.
"I've never met a wolf as tall as you" Her tones came out after a moment of facing upward. Being naive from her lack of exploration outside of her territory, she was unaware that the femme she spoke too was a horse, and not a wolf like herself.

Fauve

She smiled at the young wolf's words, and let a little snort escape her in amusement. You must be newcome from your lands, dear, for you've obviously never... and she paused, deliberately looking for a word that was not "seen", for she didn't know how sensitive Kalei was to being blind. Finally, she thought of one, and spoke again. ...you've obviously never met a horse before. I'm nothing like a wolf, though I do have wolf friends.

Kalei

The huntress paused, and after hearing the mare, slowly circled the horse, sniffing more intently now, trying to notice differences in scent. When she finished one circle around she let her rump fall to the earth before speaking. "I suppose not. Tell me, besides your scent, what makes you different from a wolf?" Her dial was tilted back once more to face the mare as she spoke. By now, she was accustomed to asking such obviously silly questions, and so she was rarely offended by any comments made because of them.

Fauve

She let the lass do her inspection, and lay down slowly and gently to allow her to feel her over if she wanted. Well... I'm taller, for one. Lots taller. And I've got longer legs and neck, and a hairy tail. She had never had to describe herself before, and was having trouble. You can feel me over, if you want, so you can make a picture.

Kalei

The snowy fae thought about the words, attempting a picture although coming up with more of a misportioned wolf then anything. But at the invitation to feel around, she let a smile slip on her features and she was quickly up, letting the side of her body push against Fauve. The first thing she noticed was a shorter, courser coat. To her it would be a mystery of the color, but that never really mattered much to her. As she movedabout the body , she couldhear thesound of her breathing, which ment she was close to herface. So she slowed, not using the side of her face and her nose to feel about, noticing the shape and size of her head. She was also able to feel the bits of very long hair of the mares mane. She continued more, her paws rubbing against a hoof and her motion stopping for her more closely observe it, gently pawing at the rough foot. "This?" Her dial turned to where the head hadbeen and breathing came from, dial cockign to the side in question as she continued to gently paw at the hoof.

Fauve

She smiled softly, trying not to giggle as the wolf's furry nose tickled her. When Kalei began to paw at her hoof, she smiled and took a moment to think before describing it. That's my foot. We horses don't have paws the way you do. We have hooves. That hard stuff on the outside is horn, and that soft part on the bottom is very sensitive muscle, kind of like the pads on your paws, that help us know where our feet are. That way we don't stumble about like crazy things. Or rather, most of us don't she thought to herself, for her brother Avi was very stumbly indeed, for an injection given to him while in human custody had robbed his feet of all feeling. Still she kept this thought to herself and allowed the young wolfess to continue her inspection.

Kalei

The snowy dove thought about this, feeling a bit moreon the hoof to try and form a correct shape. Her picture was for the most part complet, and though not perfect, it was quite good for one relying only on touch and smell as her means of imagining her. She did one more round about before stopping where breathing was loudest. Her she sat her rump on the earth before letting her plume sway side to side contently. Ittook only a moment before she spot up again, a chipper tone added. "Oh! Your name! I never asked."

Fauve

She continued to watch Kalei curiously and the fae felt around her, and her cheerful tone made Fauve smile, and her voice grew warm and fuzzy, which would help Kalei hear her smile. Fauve... I am Fauve... and you are? And she faded away, waiting.

Kalei

The ivory princess moved her lips, mouthing the name silently to herself before smiling once more. "Kalei. I am known as Kalei" With that, Kalei kept on smiling. She loved the way her name could be spoken, all of her siblings said it just a little different and it fascinated her. "Fauve, do you have a pack?" The question had randomly plpanted itself in her brain, and the idea of meeting more of these rather large animals intriged her.

Fauve

She smiled softly, laughing a little to herself, but it was a pleasant sound and not at all critical. Well, we call them herds, dearie... but I really only have my son and my brother. I had a mate once... And she faded off, thinking of him, before she came back strong. But he disappeared.

Kalei

The snowy dove listened, noting the change in tones almost as if she could see the expression on her face. Pink eyes looked up at her, a small smile remaning on her features as she chimed in, hoping to lighten the mood. "I have brothers!" Her tones were excited and her plume swayed side to side. "Three of them actually." She hadrarly played with them, it was usually more with her sisters. It wasn't as though she disliked them, but her sisters were more careful of her disadvantages of a young pup.

Fauve

She smiled a little at the lass' cheerful attitude, and lightened up, finding her joy infectious. I keep forgetting how much bigger wolf families are than horse families. In my family it is just me and Avi. Well, and my son Kiran. There is always Kiran.

Kalei

The fae smiled, thinking a bit of her brothers at the thought of this mare having a son. It seemed odd to her that she only had one son, but she took the idea that familys were smaller on less pups running around."Where does your family live? Do you have your own pack... I mean herd lands?"

Fauve

Brown harks perked as she listened to the young wolfess, and she nodded unconciously, though of course Kalei could not see it. Indeed. My son and I live not too far from here, actually, and my brother as well. If you like, I can take you there. It was really only an invitation, curious about this creature but not really knowing what else to say. What else did one say when someone enquired about their home?
