Ying
Silently, the tall male made his way to the tall grass prairie his eyes cast low. He was searching for food, or even someone to talk to. Someone who thought they might go for a little tussel. He didn't care which. He was just so bored Is this All they did here? Frolic and play like morons? The half black, half white male moved with caution not wanting to be surprised by anything. His ears swiveled and his nares quivered seeking out the scent of another. Beyond, he could scent a wolf and an injured bison. He mused for a moment on whether or not the wolf would need his help but shrugging it off he continued on. His markings were highly unusual, for he was white on his right side with a black dot on his haunch and on his left side he was black with a white dot on his shoulder. His eyes were an orange color, nearly red. He would make a hunter a fancy prize.
Karai
The star-dusted mother was wandering again, as she often did when she took the fancy to escape her troubles. She too had noticed the struggles between the wolf and bison, but had cast it aside. She wasn't in a fighting mood right now. She was lonely, and needed someone to talk to. Finally she spotted the pie-bald male, eyes fixing immediately on him because of the unusual coloring. She watched him for several moments, noting that he looked just as random as she was in her own wanderings.
Finally making up her mind, she let out a brief bark to let him know she was coming and trotted to meet him, tail waving a little to let him know she was friendly. When she drew near to him she came to a neat-footed halt and smiled softly, saying, Are you lost, brother?
She was almost certain that he was NOT in fact lost, but at the moment she could think of no other was to start a conversation. Keeping that benevolent smile on her face, she awaited his answer.
Ying
Ying turned to the female, his bright orange eyes staring deeply into her own for a moment before a smirk crossed his doubled hued maw. "I am afraid not, milady. I am just wandering your fair home." He spoke with a slight accent, as if he wasn't from around here. It was impossible to place it but it almost sounded as if he had come to the future from back in time when wolves roamed everywhere on earth. He sat and curled his tail around him, staring into her eyes as if he was captivated by them. She was so pretty. Yes, it would do him good to sit here and play the good guy. Then maybe he could make a friend besides his cold hearted sister and his overly bright and happy brother. He was the one caught in the middle between the two, being half good and half bad.
Karai
A soft laugh fell from her kissers, smiling truly now. Fair it is, friend, but I fear not my home. My birthplace is many moons run from here, and my home...
And she trailed off, noticing his look at her, and finding it very... distracting. Shaking her head to clear it, she smiled again. My home is... hither and yon. I flit about on silver wings from place to place, settling here and there, making friends and enemies. Home is... kind of everywhere for me.
She turned her good eye to him to veiw him better. She was not completely blind in the other eye, but the scarring that laced her body made it clear that someone had done a lot of damage to this sweet-natured minx, and it was easier if she used her good eye to see him. I am Karai.
Ying
He smiled at her warmly and replied "A pleasure it is, Lady Karai. I am Ying, brother of Yin and Yang. I know what it is like to wander from place to place. We were cast out of our home because my sister decided that she didn't like the alpha's." His smile turned twisted as he thought about Yin. His black sister was a cold hearted wench, but brotherly love kept her close to him. He had not heard her for some time now, and although he knew he should worry, he coulnd't seem to take it upon himself to leave the beautiful fae just to find companionship with his waspish sister. "Tell me, Lady Karai, do you have a loved one?" He didn't mean to pry just get closer to the pretty fae. Get to know her. He wondered at her scar but made no comment. He had one of his own, a near deadly blow to the under side from his dear sister.
Karai
She smiled at his comment about his sister, laughing softly again.Aye, that sounds familiar, Ying. I am familiar with similar circumstances. She meant, of course, that she had been nearly killed by her first alphen, but he wouldn't know that.
At his second question, she paused, considering her answer carefully before making it. I have many loved ones, my friend. Four beautiful children and friends aplenty, all much loved by me. Saxton, Joscelin, Aderyn, Ziarre, my babes, all grown now. My mate...
And she paused, trying to think of how to explain the lack of a mate without saying that she had been forcebred. Their father is long since dead, killed in packwar two summers past. That wasn't so far from the truth. Siyamak had been killed: Karai had killed him with the help of Aaka and Azul. He had meant to kill her and her pups, and she had to protect herself and her family. What about you? she asked. Anyone besides your siblings that you hold special care for? Friends, family, neighbors? She deliberately left off the word mate, partially because she did not want to be rude, and partially... paritially because if he had a mate, she did not want to know...
Ying
The male smiled at her question and said softly "A brother and a sister are all I have left to claim, dove. One, overly bright the other.....Vicious and cruel. Just a normal family." He laughed softly at that. Softly he murmered "I am sorry for you loss, dove." He held his head high, watching everything about him so as not to be caught off guard. Yin had a habit of doing that. Or attacking his companions if she thought them weak enough. But so help him, if his dark sister dared touch his new friend he would make sure to make her life hell. Smiing at Karai he watched her warmly. She had the look of gentleness about her that few he knew had. "Your pups must be honored to have such a beautiful mother." Indeed, he himself was at a loss for words around Karai. Before he had been the one leaving faes crawling at his feet and tongue tied. Now he knew how they felt.
Karai
Karai laughed too, finding it difficult not to smile when he did. She nodded at his expression of sorrow, trying to look appropriately greived when there was no one she hated more than the father of her pups.
A smile touched her lips and a blush mantled her cheeks at his compliment, and she let her pleasure show on her face, voice soft and low. If everyone in your family is as handsome as you are, the world must echo with woebegone lovers' sighs.
Ying
A soft chuckle escaped the male. "I fear that my brother tries his hardest to steer clear of pretty fae's not knowing the ways of the female mind. My sister, however, you can say does leave a tail of broken hearts." A grin passed his maw and he added "Or I leave them broken for her." Ah, always the protecter of those he loved even when their venom struck his poor soul. Well, not so much poor as sheltered. He could handle his sister well enough. It was Karai that put him on edge, making him choose his words carefully. "Ah, my pretty dove. I have only known you for but a few short moments but it feels as if a life time to me." In truth that was how the male felt. She put him on edge while at the same time made him feel completly at ease. "Maybe sometime, my dove, I shall meet your pups. Maybe even your friends that you speak of." He caught her look and knew some how that something was not right about the death of her so called mate but he did not press the matter. What was past was past and better left that way.
Karai
The silver-dusted mother smiled, her voice that of one who sees things. Ah, a defensive fellow, are you? Is your sister a flirt, or just very very beautiful?
She gazed into the orange eyes of his, and saw there that he didn't quite believe everything about her "mate", and made a pleased note that he was intelligent. But then his words distracted her. Yes, perhaps someday, my friend, and perhaps I will tell you more about Siyamak, too.
Ying
The male chuckled softly at her first comment. "Yin is both. She knows that she is beautiful, and uses it to lure in unsuspecting males. Like a wasp to a beautiful flower. But her beauty will never be able to surpass your own, my dove." He smiled at her and when he heard her next comment he nodded. "I would take great pleasure in hearing about him and meeting your young ones." He was quiet now as a howl rose through the air. A soft chuckle escaped him. "Yin is up to one of her games again." Indeed, the black wolfess had found new game, more fun.
Karai*Joscelin*Aderyn*Ziarre
She smiled at him. He was so kind, unlike so many she had encountered recently. No time like the present, she said, and tilted her tiara in a soft alto howl, bringing three pairs of feet running.
Fleet-footed Ziarre was the first to arrive, her sapphire-blue eyes lit with the joy of being aliveas she came to nuzzle her mother.
The steely Joscelin was next, making a formal nod to Ying before coming forward to give his mother a wolf's hug.
Aderyn brought up the rear, watching Ying with large blue eyes that were lit with a cautious intelligence. Delicate as a pup, she was still much smaller than her siblings, but far more clever than any of the others.
There, my loves, meet my new friend Ying. Ying, this is Joscelin, Aderyn, Ziarre...but where is Saxton?
Ziarre smiled mischeiviously, eyeing Joscelin sidelong. Saxton's... occupied, Ma. Males, you know. And she smiled broader, teasing Joscelin, who fought not to roll his eyes.
Ying
The male smiled at the pups warmly. "Aye, the ways of men." He chuckled and watched them all finding in them kindness that his brother possessed. Although he to was kind, he had his moments where the darkness seemed to consume him and take away his sanity. He turned his orange eyes to Joscelin and smiled. "So, young warrior. Do you protect the family well?" His gaze was piercing as he watched the other male, trying his hardest to conceal a smile and appear dark and moody. He knew Karai who see through this facade and knowing that nearly broke it but he continued on some how watching the male with serious orbs.
Karai*Joscelin*Aderyn*Ziarre
Karai nuzzled Aderyn in greeting in order to hide the growing smile on her face. She enjoyed putting one over on her children every once in a while, and liked having someone to help her do so.
Joscelin, however, remained completely unruffled. He was perfectly named: the shield, one to defend and protect, unbendable. I am the only protector we have sir, so of course, I am of the very best degree. His face was very level and cold, but Ziarre turned around to giggle just a bit, her shoulders shaking as she tried not to make a sound. He was actively trying to be serious.
Ying
He chuckled softly at the male and nodded. "Thats good, young Joscelin." He turned to little Aderyn and smiled. "I see your children are just as beautiful as you are, dove." His words were soft and tender to the female not wanting to set her off as he was used to the complexities of the female mind.
Karai*Saxton*Joscelin*Aderyn*Ziarre
Karai stepped back from nuzzling Aderyn, her face level as ever, though her eyes were smiling. She blushed a little under her silver pelt at his kindness, and her voice was soft. Well, some of them resemble their father more than I, but he was a beautiful solid black, so I am not surprised.
This was true: Siyamak had possessed a coat that matched his dark nature, and it was beautiful, in an evil, alluring sort of way. She was about to speak further when a fourth set of paws sounded upon the earth.
Saxton resembled his mother very much, with his father's dark eyes set into his skull. He skidded to a halt with a sheepish grin at his mother.
Ziarre let her tongue curl out in a silent laugh as she stepped forward to bat his ear, pup-like. Found yourself a pretty sheila to consume your time, eh brother?
Aderyn rolled her eyes at Saxton, and Karai laughed just a bit, turning back to Ying. Ying this is my eldest, Saxton. Saxton, Ying.
Ying
He chuckled softly at them. "Aww, but a pretty wench and a spirted one, shall keep any chap on his toes and rarin to go." He grinned at Saxton and winked. He could understand well. He just hoped that the male wouldn't get captured in his sisters web, that would be a hard one to disentangle ones self from. He looked to Karai and smiled warmly at her. He was out of place in this little family, but he could find only warmth and strength, wisdom and courage in this little group. But no one, could forget the beauty.
