Aralyn*Ammit
Aralyn clutched Infernos mane tightly for she was riding him with nothing-no saddle no bridle not even a halter. She had only trusted one horse that much and that was her Psyche. "Good boy." She murmered softly rubbing the great stallions neck. "Alright Conan. We race to that log, over it, turn around back over it and here to where we were. Psyche will stand to show our finish line alright?" She told the young man.
Ammit snorted with pleasure at being able to prove herself to her new master. Her friend. She pawed the earth beneath her and playfully reared and spun in a fast circle ready to tear away.
Inferno
the hunter snorted calm as he eyed the course the female had just laid out he collected himself he had to be careful to quick of a take off could kncok his female from him he stood still as the mare Ammit showed off he eyed her and smirked to himself she was fun to watch
Aralyn
A smile lit across her lips as she nudged him a bit forward to move into a nice big circle to stretch out his muscles. She didn't want her massive stallion to jump and land wrong like Psyche had at one point. Softly she hummed under her breath soothing both herself and the great stallion.
Psyche had wandered a bit and now stood calm and still where Aralyn had told her. She smiled at Inferno faintly and said "Win this one for her. She needs something in her life to go right. Even the little things would make a good impact." With that she stood tall and mighty, her brown eyes gazing out far and away from those surrounding her. Her mane and tail were blown back by a sudden wind giving an awing effect to the beautiful mare.
Inferno
as he felt her motion she did as he was told and listened to Psyche he looked to her and was caught off guard by her beauty he stubbled then caught himself cleared his throat and called to her.
|Seems me and her have alot in common I won't let her down ever I promise|
Conan
The lanky teen sat easily on Ammit, picking his fingers absently through her coat as he watched the others interact. His hands were gentle as he pulled them through a particularly stubborn knot, pulling the hairs apart without hurting the mare's sensitive skin. As he worked his way up shoulders to her withers, he thought.
He knew nothing of the plea Psyche had made of Inferno, not speaking as they did. Still, he was not a sore loser. Back at home, there were so many times he was the loser... for... well.
His blue eyes went far away as he remembered what he had sensed upon first meeting Aralyn: a common past, though he could not begin to guess at the specifics. It is much like recognizing a warrior; the best person to guess is another warrior, for he can see the hardship in the others' eyes. In the older woman's eyes, whenever he could see them, there was a partial reflection of himself, of that part that no one else could see. Such knowledge is beyond pity, beyond compassion; it simply becomes an odd sort of friendship, though its roots just as deep and strong as any other.
He turned his gaze to Aralyn and let a soft smile fall on his face for her, a nod letting her know he was ready. If she won, he would still be happy.
Aralyn
She smiled as Inferno finished his last circle. Suddenly she straightened him out on the course and nudged his sides and shouted "Now!" And waited tensely with her hands buried deep in his mane and herself firmly planted onto his back so that she was one with him. Horse and rider moving together in one fluid motion.
Conan
The boy bent low over Ammit, just waiting for Aralyn's word. His hands were entwined firmly but gently in her mane, to give him a bit of bracing. He closed his eyes, not in fear, but so that nothing would distract him as he waited for her. Then he heard it. "Now!" He nudged the mare's sides, his voice urging her quietly. Let's go, Ammit, mah girl. Give 'em a good run fer their money. And he lowered himself into a low-rider's stance that would cut down on wind-drag.
Inferno
the albino brute surged forward his nails hammered upon the loam as he striden lengthed. Soon he was at his max and he loved it. He caught sight of the jump coming out without waitin for her girl to check him he paced slowed he collected himself and with a push off he was air born his fore daggers strickin the ground again after a few moments of bliss he loved to soar. He turned sharply and looked back to see where Ammit was.
Aralyn*Ammit
Ammit let out a squeal and threw herself forward lunging hard and fast trying as hard as she could to keep up with the long legged stallion. Her thorns were pinned to the back of her head but it was in concentration not in anger. She was even with the stallions flank which would be hard for a horse of her size but Ammit was determined to beat the massive brute. She didnt check her pace as the stallion did but kept up with her fast pace, hoping to make up time. She slowed at the last second, almost a stride before the jump and leaped hard, soaring over the hurtle with ease. She whirled at the corner, her tight arabian body aiding her in fast turns and swift movements.
Aralyn let loose a whoop of joy and clung to the stallions mane as her hair flew behind her, his mane melting into it making the two seem as one. "Fly!" She whispered to her stallion. It was like 'let her buck' but for her it was only 'fly' as in on these broken wings were flying
Deiago
Little did the playing equines know that there was a predator in there mist, a Maned wolf lurked in the tall grass nearby standing down wind as to not be smelt, and could not be seen for her savannah camo, she blended with the tall prarie grass like a lion does the suvannah's grass, she watched the zebra like animals thinking to herself, ::strange two zebras one with a human the other with none, blood still flows threw there veins and tasty I am sure, yes yes taller then zebras and not as well blended together...eaiser to spot then the zebras:: anyone could tell that she was the only wolf in these lands like her, standing at 3.2 feet tall and at 45 pounds she was tall and thin, ment for speed with teeth to grip like a cheetah, she salavated for the long ship ride from africa had starved her, slowly she stalked foreward picking the mare for she had no human, and humans were know to carried shiney sticks that went boom and killed, she stalked like the mightly lion and there supurb hunting skills, she was practacally invisable, she was about 5 yards away went she stood and lurched towards the mare running at top speed she jumped, jaws wide she let them aim for the mares open throat, she acted on complete predator insticts only, she was hungry and that was all that clouded her mind, she was as wind as any animal but seemed to have a ravenese anger and hatred about her...an evil presence.
Ammit
Ah but Ammit did have a human atop her. Conan. She heard Aralyn scream and a flash caught her eye. The female whinnyed sharply as an unknown source rose from the grass. She reared up with squeal and struck out in fear, hopefully striking the dog.
Deiago
The red wolf growled angerly at having her calculations wrong now see the human on the horses back startled her, one of the mares front hoofs cuffed her on the side but would leave nothing more then a bruise. If anything it made her more furious, it was her nature. she fell strait to the ground but recovered just in time so not to be trampled by her landing hoofs. With the agialty that was bred into her from her ansestors she ran to nip at the mares heels hopping to get her to run, all the while keeping an eye on the male horse who would no doubt be more troubled then bargained for, she hoped to run her prey to the ground if anything for she knew that in the long run she could out run the horse in miles but could not fight the beasts brawn.
Conan
Conan stayed atop Ammit easily as she reared and sidled, head flicking this way and that to find out what had disturbed her. Letting her complete her rear, he pulled her up short to keep her from dashing off, knowing that such a small animal could easily match his mare for speed. Without taking his eyes from the wolf, he called to Aralyn, Hold 'im steady! This kit'll outrun 'im easy. He didn't stop to think that she probably knew that: he was reacting by instinct.
Still holding Ammit steady, he nudged backward into her flanks, hoping to get her to back up far enough to force Deiago to move, and give them room to maneuver. Come on then, me girl. Let's show 'er what a two-legs and a four legs can do.
Deiago
She growled and continued nipping at the horses heels and if she was luckly maybe even get a taste of blood. Her growling and barking continued as did her asault on the horses hind ankles.
Ammit*Aralyn
Ammit shrieked in fear and instinct told her to charge forward away from the animal. But...But Conan wanted her to back up. She lunged backwards then to the side striking out at Deiago as her fangs caught one of her hinds. She whinnyed in fear and struck out again and again before holding still her body shuddering convulsivly.
"Avia, mon ami!" She called to her stallion below as she settled hard on his back and her hands slid down his neck hoping to slow the massive stallion. She turned to stare at the wolf and her eyes grew confused. That wolf should be in africa...Not here. "Conan! Dont let her run!" The wolf, she had read, would run an animal into the ground and strike then killing the beast.
Deiago
She tasted the faint hint of blood and smirked it touched her insides and her brain making her react happily in hunger it only made her persue the horse more, then the horse kicked she jumped out of the way just in time to feel the edge of the hoof cut her nose, her eyes watered and that is when she became more savage at the attempts to make her run. biting with more and more viger her mouth was salvating for the expecting dinner.
Inferno
Inferno brought down his speed quickly pivotin hopin his female could hold on haltin and moment feelin her still on his back he moved to help Ammit. He was huge compared to Ammit and as he lumbered up to the wolf his pace was slow he wasn't the lest bit scared he had dealt with worst and as long as his female was on his back she was safe. He rose not to high as to lost her but high enough to come down infront of the wolf. It was threat his crown tossed and shook skull tucked to prevent a deadly blow as he came to the wolf.
Conan
The flame-haired boy held Ammit steady at the mane, still speaking to her. Easy there, my lass. Hold steady now. Give 'er a good kick fer me. He kept a constant pressure on her mane, still nudging into her sides to back her up. He was hoping to back Ammit enough to a point where Inferno could land his assault.
Deiago
She snarled at the stallion as she dodged the mare she sized up with situation and figured to large zebra compared to her would not be good game, she turned and ran into the long grass as if disappearing into camoflage she was gone to find an easier prey, one that would give up and die instead of fight.
Conan
Conan remained still atop Ammit for several moments, making sure that the creature had fled before dismounting and placing himself carefully between the two horses. Leaning down, he tried to catch up Ammit's injured hind to have a look-see, groping with his other hand in a pocket where he kept the healing salve that he always used on injuries. His voice was soft, soothing.
There, mah girl. Done well, ya did. That's mah brave lass. And he raised his voice just slightly, though the tone was still soothing, letting Inferno hear it, for what it was worth, for he knew the stallion would not understand. And you're a brave lad too, fella. Helped me take care of my Ammit, and I cannae say bad of someone who does that. A fine lad, yes.
Finally finding his salve, he checked his grip on the leg, beginning to gently smear it on, still murmuring softly, humming to himself.
Inferno
As the animal flee he fought the impulse to race after it. alabaster form halted instead a loud snorted pushed through his nares. As the male spoke to him he knew what he said was good by the tone of the voice and he bodded his crown and gave and low rumblin nickered lookin to Ammit he nickered again softer.
you okay?
Ammit*Aralyn
Her thorns laced to melt into her skull as the wolf disappeared. She didn't like not being able to see the african dog but she liked not having her trying to eat her. As Conan slipped off her back she shuddered but she held perfectly still. As Inferno spoke she whispered softly "Never been better." She shuddered but never moved as Conan spread the salve onto her wound. She had done her best.
Aralyn slid off of Infernos back and took two sugar cubes out of her pocket. She gave one to the great stallion with a soft murmer she pet him then turned to Ammit and handed the mare a treat as well. Ammit took it gingerly and snorted shaking her head casting her black mane all about her. The wound was not deep but the scare the small fleet mare had gone through was enough to have her on edge. Her eyes were wide and she kept casting her head this way and that seeking any other unknown dangers.
Conan
Conan continued to murmur softly, knowing that Ammit's attentive glances about were mostly due to fear. He didn't really want her off her guard, for that would be stupid, but he wanted to get her calm before they headed back to the farm. There, mah sweet. You'll do. Brave girl, my Ammit. You'll be fine.
Inferno's contented snort made him smile softly, knowing that this was an improvement from the stallion's extra wary treatment. Knowing not to move too fast with a nervous horse, he left the interaction there, turning to Aralyn. Think I've had enough excitement for one day, don't you? Soon's I can get Ammit outta tha shakes, I'm for headin for tha farm and a good rubdown for the horses. What say you?
Inferno
Inferno bodded his skull as he took the sweet treat his auds were in motion pickin up sounds here and there and his nares explanded takin the scents there didn't seem to be any other danger. Ammit lets go home it okay its gone
Inferno wanted to help the mare she seemed so scared. he nudged the male's seat and moved beside the nervous mare his stance calm hoping to show her it was okay.
