Sweetbrier

The grey fox sprinted across the snowy ground with her bushy tail flowing behind her. Large ears were directed forward as her head tilted towards the ground. Then one ear swiveled back to be sure that Mac was near at paw. "First things first... are you a good listener?" There was a coy grin on her pointed muzzle.

Mac

Mac troted in behind her jumping about in the snow. "Ya I'm a good lisener." he responded. "Why?"

Sweetbrier

She grinned a bit more, focusing her ears more towards the ground, "Use your ears in the winter, mostly." The vixen whispered, concentrating hard on what she could hear. "Listen for them under the snow. They build tunnels there. And when you hear them go by..." Now Sweetbrier trailed off, her body growing tense. "Spring!" Saying that, the vixen launched herself rather high in the air, almost straight up. Then she came down front-paws and head first. Half of her body disappeared under the snow as she landed, leaving her end half sticking up in the air. A second later, she was scrambling out of the snow and shaking her pelt. "Ah, well. That one got away. But that's the tactic. Listen and pounce. Throw your whole front body into it!" It was a trick that her cousin-species, the red fox, did very well. But she too knew a lot about hunting little rodents. "Why don't you try?"

Mac

Mac twitched his ears then lept up into the air to make the pounce. he falters thought last second and just tumbles over the top of the snow. he gets up then trys again this time his pounce is more sugsessfull and because of his size only his tail is shown to any that come by.

Sweetbrier

The fox laughed merrily, watching the little dog all but disappear into the snow. "Now you've got to get yourself out!" Sweetbrier circled around Mac, grinning delightedly. "Have you got anything, Mac?"

Mac

Mac grumbled then you started to here a scratching sound. soon mac's tail disapeared and soon after that his head poped out of a new hole a few inches away a mouce squeeking as it was held in his teath by the tail. "Got one." he said threw closded teath

Sweetbrier

She nodded in approval, "Very nice work, Mac! Now, trick is to kill it without getting bit." The vixen went on. "Toss it up in the air a bit, then snap it quickly when it comes back down."

Mac

Mac listened to Sweet briers words nodding. he swung the rat a bit then let it go into the air. he opend his mouth as it started to come down but missed the catch. the mouce hurryed away as it landed and mac tryed to chase after it but it got away. "Awwwww." he said saddly

Sweetbrier

She shook her head, "That's alright, Mac. It was very impressive that you caught it in the first place." The fox tilted her dainty head to the side, then pointed her muzzle up and sniffed at the air. Her features contorted into a frown, "I smell quite a few other creatures around here. I've showed you the basics of mouse hunting; would you like to see what other kinds of animals live here?"

Mac

Mac smiled sniffing the air with her. "Sure i would." he said wagging his tail so fast he started shaking with it

Sweetbrier

"We'll take a look at the deer first. They aren't my normal prey, unless I can find an unattended fawn." The vixen replied, happy to be teaching Mac what she knew about hunting and whatnot. She sprinted across the snow to where she scented a group of deer.

Mac

Mac nodded and followed
