sabine
the slender tan doe silently picked her way across the rough terrain, large ears swiveling constantly, her pretty dark eyes watching her surroundings carefully, watching for the telltale rustling to alert her to the presence of a lupine or feline, either of which could easily be lurking about. her small pink tongue went over her dark nose quickly, and she stopped for a moment, head lifted, wondering. what had become of the other herd of deer she had met? hmm, one can only hope. sighing softly, she continued onwards, towards the small body of water. she was quite thirsty, and intended to get a drink.
Icelit, Bramble, & Dapple
Another doe was heading through the prairie, with her two youngsters in tote. They were half her size now, capable of keeping up with her during a run. But still too young to survive long on their own. Curiousity would get them killed quickly.
Spotting Sabine, Icelit raised her head up and stood still. Dapple stood beside her mother, mimicking her every move.
But Bramble was far too interesting in this other creature. He sprinted through the grass, leaping in long bounds as he went until he reached Sabine. "Hiya!" He called out loudly, flicking his little tail once.
Icelit gave a sharp bark, calling her fawn back. But he didn't listen.
Banshee
The wolf moved slowly and silently he didn't want to be discovered. His black pelt stood out but the deer weren't paying any attention to him. He inched closer and closer he would need to catch them by surprise to catch one of them. He was five feet away when he sprung his trap.
Icelit, Bramble, & Dapple
Icelit was never as alert as she should be; not since the terrible black tongue plaque. But a faint rustle from behind brought her head swinging back and she spot the predator. She snorted loudly in alarm and her tail flashed up. An instant later she was springing away, running for her life!
Dapple froze for an instant; possibly her undoing, before running after her mother. Normally she would be able to outrun the wolf, but in panic, the fawn began to zig-zag, trying to outmanuver the wolf.
Bramble turned around after hearing the snort. He couldn't yet see what had caused the panic, but he didn't need too. The fear was infectious, and the youngster bolted in the opposite direction, flagging his tail as he did.
Ridged Edge
Cougar came bounding over, he had been with his pack but left them to hunt these deer the other unknown wolf had started to. He was infront of the deer, but he stayed low in the grass, ready to pounce. As Icelit ran towards him, he smirked, when she extremely cloes to him, he lept up, fangs aiming to latch onto the front of her neck. Once this one was gone, the other could take down the other cow then they could each take a calf
Icelit
Icelit had not noticed Ridged Edge, thanks in part to her rather lacking observation skills. With a bleating cry, her slender body was slammed to the ground as the hybrid attacked. His jaws found their way to her sleek neck and quickly drew blood. Though her legs were thin and spindly, the hooves and power behind them were very dangerous; even deadly if connected to the right areas. And so she kicked out with great violence and urgency, trying to save her life.
Ridged Edge
Edfe bit down hard and quickly snapped his own neck up to break her neck. As she kicked out one of her hooves made contact with his hind leg, he felt it break jus above his paw. Not wanting to emit a cry of agony in fear of loosing his prey, he began to shake his head while bbitting down harder on her neck. He could ahve to go the the lady to get her help.
Icelit, Bramble, & Dapple
Icelit kicked out more, struggling for her life. But with Ridged's quick movements there came a dull but obvious crack. All at once, the doe stopped moving and lay lifeless in the grass.
Dapple kept running, fearing someone was behind her.
Bramble paused after a short distance, having run quite a ways from the commotion. But now, as he quickly surveyed the land, he could not see his mother's body hidden by the grasses. But there was that hybrid.... "Mama!' Bramble cried out in a peeping sort of noise.
Ridge Edge
A smirk came to his maw when he felt the doe go limp in his powerful jaws. As he heard the fawn call out he let go and lifted his head up. "Come get her small one." He called out to Bramble. He stalked off a little ways from the dead doe and watched the two fawns, he couldnt find the other brute.
Bramble & Dapple
Bramble snorted stamped a tiny hoof to the ground. He didn't reply to Ridged Edge.
Dapple had slowed down a bit after loosing sight of her mother. "Mama! Mama!" She peeped out in alarm, searching about with her large, dark eyes. "Mama!" She flicked her tongue over her nose, enhancing her sense of smell. Blood... she caught that. The reek of predator. And her mother. Ignoring the two obviously bad scents, Dapple ran towards where her mother's form lay.
Bramble stamped his hoof down again, "Dapple, no! Go back!"
Ridged Edge
A smirk came to the demon's maw as the foolish fawm came running to her mother. He shifted his weight from side to side, waiting for the perfect moment. As she neared her mothers life less form, he lifted himself up and ran at Dapple. Then when we was very close to her, he launched himself at her side, fangs bared trying to bite her anywhere.
Ice
Cougar brute walked in with the sow hopefully at toe, he looked around seeing his half brother take down the doe and not going for the fawn. He stayed back a little ways and sat down, he could smell blood coming for elsewhere, proably Mitya getting her kills for the pack as well. They were a rather large pack and needed alot of food. Ice would help bring back any meet that could not be brought back by them.
Pheral
The 610 pound sow followed after Ice, contantly sniffing at the ground and peering around with her small, dark eyes. She stopped near her the cougar and tilted her tusk-lined muzzle to the air. She had already scented the death of the doe and the presence of others. But what struck her as odd, was the scent of Ridged Edge. Turning to Ice, she whispered quietly so the hunt wouldn't be disturbed, "A pack member of yours? His scent confuses me..." She hated the fact that something was unknown to her.
The odor of blood made her stomach growl. Pheral was omnivorous, but leaned more towards meat, unlike other pigs. That extra protein had helped her grow as large as she was now, and would allow her to get even bigger as she aged.
Bramble & Dapple
Dapple gave a sharp cry, springing with a jerk to the side as she saw a form launch for her. But it was too late! Her relexes were tuned like an adults, and she miss-stepped. She hit the ground hard as Ridged Edge's fangs sunk into her side. She cried out again and began kicking and struggling. Unlike her mother, she did not have quite so strong of legs. The most hers could do was bruise the much larger predator.
Bramble shivered, his eyes wide and horrified in look. He saw the shape of the attacker move throught he brush and his sister fall out of sight. He heard her cries and knew it was all over. Dread filled his heart, but natural instinct told him to get the heck out of here while he, at least, still had a change. Turning away, the adolescent deer bolted through the grass, flagging his tail and leaping high. Soon, he was out of the area, for he could run nearly as well as his adult conterparts.
Ridged Edge*Ice
Edge but down hard on the younglings side, his claws began to moved quickly on her, trying to shred her side apart so she would loose blood and die quickly. His audits perked up as he saw Bramble run away, oh well he thought these two would be enough.
Ice looked over at Pharel. "Yes, he is, also my half-brother." Orbs watched as Bramble fled, he thought about going after him, but stayed put instead, and watched as Dapple flailed her legs around to save herlife.
Dapple
Dapple stood no chance once she was caught. A few final cries escaped her throat before the shock of the attack and steady blood-loss ended her life.
Pheral
"Half brother?" She repeated at a murmur, with her large, half-floppy ears perking at the fawn's cries. "He smells of wolf too... I've come to know quite a bit in my life, but this is completely new to me." She pointed out thoughtfully, but let the matter go to rest. "I could help drag that fawn back." The sow offered next, hearing the cries subside. She wanted to make herself as useful as possible; Pheral wanted not only to be a helpful ally to Ice and his pack, but a friend as well. It was awfully lonely traveling around with no friends, afterall.
Ridged Edge*Ice
Ice looked at Pheral one last time. "Its comlicated." He began to walk towards Edge as he heard her offer, thinking about it he nodded. "That could make you less of a target to my pack." He grabbed the fawn and pulled it to Pheral, plopping it on her noes just above her tusks. "Does that work?" He asked her curiously.
Edge raised his hackles as he seen the sow comeing towards him, readying to pounce, but then as he listenede to Ice talk, he decided it better to not attack. "Lo Ice, Mitya Dakota and Nightcrawler are still hunting their catch, we'll meet them back home." Lowering his maw he picked up Icelit and began to walk home. Ice nodded to Pheral. "Follow us." As they walked, Ice explained Pheral's presence with him and why he wasnt going to kill her.
Pheral
She nodded, taking on the light weight of the fawn as he placed it over her tusks, "Yes, that works." The sow replied, feeling the body was positioned level over her snout and tusks. Staying nearer to Ice, Pheral followed after the cougar and his half-brother.
