Ammit

Silently the mare came into the land. Her mind was clouded as where her eyes. She was a weary traveler searching for anyone to come. Even humans would be welcome. Looking up she gave a whinny searching for anyone. Seeing no one she plodded on. Finding a nice soft spot to lay down she did so with a heavy thud and a moan. She had run away from humans. HEr egyptian arabian blood stained her ebony coat although she felt no pain. She had run into a barb wire fence earlier in her escape. Now regreting it she fell asleep unaware that any could kill her.....or capture her

Vicious .+. Fallen

Large 3 ft brute trotted into the land. He was wanting a bounty. But lately his hunt for humans was going extremely slow. Until the scent of a horse filled his nose. He paused and lifted his nose, nares quivering at every scent he took in. Ears flicked around listening for any noise, he heard one. A large plop and the crackling of grass being pressed on sounded to his left. Single eye was closed until the fall was heard. Quickly he turned and watched through his yellow globe. The grass swayed back and forth from the horse.

A smile crept to his lips. Quietly he began to prowl up to the mare. Keeping low, quiet. He was a master at camoflauge and hunting. At the last minute he pounced with all 200Ibs. Only to be collided with a small black wolf female. He fell slightly short from hitting the horses head and caught himself before he fell. Glaring up to the other wolf. Fanges showing in utter rage from stopping his kill.

Fallen glared through red eyes to the one eyes male. His large scars scared her alot, but she wished for the life of an animal that had no defence at all. "For crying out loud, She's asleep!" Quickly her fangs nipped lightly at the mares back to wake her up.

Vicious stood there, eye glaring devilishly to the female who ruined his kill. She wouldn't stop him, Quickly his fangs lurched to the mares throat. Hoping to cut off her vital signs. But once again the black female jumped and landed on the brutes back. Claws digging into his hide to get him off.

Ammit

Hearing and feeling the mare opened her eyes to see the female and male. Standing up as quickly as she could she backed away stumbling every now and then. She could not run. She could hardly even see straight. Seeing both of the wolves scared her.

Another horse showed up however. Al Sheratan the pearly white egyptian raced in thorns pinned back black eyes enraged. She charged down to the wolves and reared. "Beat it! Both of you!" she didnt know that Fallen was helping her friend but she didnt care. Someone who came near another horse ready to kill was to be killed.

Forgettig the wolves Al Sheratan raced towards the black female "You need to walk honey come on lets go" she whispered urgently. She nudged the mare which only caused her to stumble. Looking around franticly the white angel called to a wolf nearby.

Broken heard the commotion. She had been watching everything from a distance as was her liking. Stalking out she raced over To Fallen and Vicious attacking him wih the black female for help.

Vicious >< Fallen

The brute bucked the fea off then ran off with the scent of human in the air. Fallen fell to ground and looked to the mare. Quietly she waited for the mare to wake up.

Human

A boy of about sixteen came wandering through the prairie, gun slung over his shoulder. He had come hunting for rabbits, but his eyes widened a little as he saw bigger game: the wolves. But just as he went to aim, he spied the horses. He lowered his gun and came a few steps forward, speaking low and light, a sweet tone to tempt the mare.

.aleu. & luneia

the ivory lupine had decided to introduce luneia to the world beyond breve ridges, where they had been hiding. slowing her quick trot, her dark eyes glanced behind her, and a short yip escapes her vocals. the small child, luneia, hurried up her little crawl, responding with a pup-like yip. the wolf had found the child, abandoned, and killed two teenagers who had tried to take the little girl away from her. the child was about a year old now, yet she crawled on all fours very easily. she had black hair, and very strange eyes- one was a brilliant blue, while the other was a grey-green. the ivory wolfess took a few steps towards the toddler, gently nudging her with her muzzle. yet suddenly she heard the sound of human footsteps, and her ears pricked slightly. her dary eyes narrowed, and she whuffed to the child-pup, hushing her. the two of them crept forward, until they were near enough to watch the whole spectacle. yet the child, seeing the horses, wolves, and strange two-legged thing, let out a childish giggle, and the lupine growled at her quietly, hushing her again. had they been heard?

Fallen

The black fea saw the horse try to attack her and quickly she ran away. Freezing the perked her head. She looked around and spotted the teenage boy. Every muscle froze as she stared at him. Memories of her younger years filled her mind of her old home. But seeing the gun, she knew he wasn't friendly to her kind. Quickly her tail shot between her legs and she scampered a good distance away. Stopping close to the horses and turning, looking up to the mare she tried to help.

"Are you alright?" She whimpered, but her attention again went to the human. She had never been this scared of an animal.

Fallen

Soon the fea turned, not wanting to see the crowed anymore. And she left.

Al Sheratan*Ammit

Silently the fae stood her black coat stained crimson shining in the falling sun. Seeing the boy had her staggering towards him a whicker emmiting from her bodice. She missed humans. She knew it was wrong but she missed them more then anything.

The other mare this one small and white also watched the human. She did not move closer but she did not run either. She had no fear of the boy but she did not want to become tamed once more. Did she?

Human

The boy layed down the gun, still speaking softly. "Come, little one, I'll not hurt you. Looks like you're in a bit of a spot, don't you think? Who tore you up like that, eh pretty one?" And he murmured quietly, not moving, waiting for her to come to him.

Al Sheratan*Ammit

The mare whickered again before stopping in front of the boy. She stood before him her head down. Her black coat shuddered once as she swayed nearly falling over.

The white mare watched still standing tall and proud where she was. She wasnt moving. He didnt bother her he didnt scare her. Seeing her friend was in good hands she slowly turned and walked away showing no care in the world. If Ammit wanted to be with humans then she could go live with humans. It wasnt for her to worry about.

Boy

The boy held out his hand, moving slowly so as not to startle the mare. He held it where she could smell if she wanted, and spoke quietly. "There now.. You look like you were a fine girl once, but you look so tired now. Hard luck, huh? Well... you can come with me and I know a place they'll take good care of you. Good meals and a bit of grooming and you'll turn out smart, I think." He made no closer move, just talking.

Ammit

The mare whickered softly. She rubbed her head against his chest as she shuddered. She nearly fell over, her blood loss was so great. She glanced up as another horse came over the rise.

Psyche was the mare of a human named Aralyn. She watched as the boy talked to Ammit in her minds eye she saw her mistress doing the same not so long ago with herself. Slowly she came down the hill and stood next to Ammit staring up over the hill every now and again. She let out a shrill whistle as a call came across the land. Aralyn wished for her to return but how could she when her friend was in such need for help?

Conan

The boy smiled as she rubbed her head agaisnt him, and scratched her ears, still murmuring softly. As she shuddered, he pulled a hankerchief out of one pocket and a bottle of water out of another, and doused the cloth in it. He then moved around to one side to wipe down the wounds, hoping to stay off infection. He had grown up around horses, and knew how sensitive their skin was, so he was gentle. Once this was done, he pulled out a salve that wuld help heal the wounds, as well as dull the pain, and rubbed it gently on the marks. He moved around front to the other side and did the same. "there now, little one, that'll do you. I'm Conan." And he smiled again. "You are a sweet thing, arent' you?"

He saw Psyche out of the corner of his eye, but he didn't move, only turned just a little so he could keep an eye on her, too. He could tell that both Psyche and Al Sheratan were healthy, so he would not try to restrain them. The way he figured it, if the animal was happy and healthy in the wild, he ought to leave it that way. Psyche even looked as though someone owned her, judging by the fact that her coat was clean and unmatted, and her feet shod. He spoke to her, trying to reassure her. "Easy, there, I won't hurt your friend. And where is your master? Surely your master is missing you." He continued to move slowly and calmly, and began to do a basic go over on Ammit, looking carefully in her eyes and ears, checking for other problems. All this was done with a sofe tone of voice and gentle hands.

Aralyn*psyche*Ammit

Ammit continued to stand letting the boys voice soothe her fears. She glanced at Psyche when another whistle pierced the air.

Standing atop a hill was a young woman hardly older then eighteen standing on the hill. Seeing her mare she gave another call and picked her way carefully down the hill. She smiled at Camon and said in a quiet tone "hello" before patting Psyche on the neck. Aralyn had a fear of guys....From her past. She continued to rub down her mare and nodded towards Ammit "Shes named after a goddess from egypt. Think wisely how you care for her. Baby Ammit" she had a slight egyptian accent herself and knew what she was talking about.

Conan

Conan was pleased with Ammit. He smiled and began to pull his fingers gently through her mane, removing tangles.

It was at this point that the young woman came up the hill. He could see she was afraid, and he could guess why: his parents hadn't been all that kind to him. They got along better froma long-distance perspective. He knew instinctively that she was afraid of him, but only because of someone else. Still, he didn't mention it, knowing he wouldn't want it mentioned, if it were him. He smiled shyly as she spoke, and listened intently. When she had finished, he spoke. "I will care for her well. Ammit..." He mulled the name over, and decided he liked it. "Little dark Ammit. Rather appropriate she is so dark. The Devouress of the Dead. Judges Hearts and devours those who sinned in life." He paused, thinking. "Very appropriate that she is dark, though she doesn't even vaguely resemble a crocodile." He had been bookish as a boy and had read a lot about ancient cultures. He turned back to Aralyn. "I will guard her with my life, and care for her with all the love..." and he got quiet... that was never wasted on me." And he turned back to Ammit, and began plaiting her mane thoughtfully.

Aralyn

Aralyn grinned and looked at him the fear fading "Ah you know your history. I think me and you will get along wonderfully. Ammit was taken care of well enough but....she decided she didnt like staying where she was so broke loose. I told them not to use barbwire but they were the snotty sort. The white one is named after a star. Al Sheratan. Those born under that star refuse help from those that are willing to give it. She was a wonderful foal....but the boy that owned her was immature and set her loose one day." she smiled at him and grabbed onto Psyches mane pulling herself up onto her back as if it was of second nature. "If you ever want to talk to someone you can find me at the woodland farm. Have a nice day....im sorry what is your name?" she smiled but was slightly worried. Malon wasnt with her and that wasnt normal. Thinking he must have gone to chase a rabbit she tried not to worry.

Ammit sighed and lifted one hoof in show of relaxation. How wonderful it was to be taken care of again. She wouldnt leave. Never again would she leave.

Conan

He was troubled by her stories, and scowled a little. "I would never restrain a horse that wanted to leave. And I don't believe in barbwire. I don't really have a home anyway." That wasn't QUITE true, but it was true enough. "But I manage. I do some odd jobs around about, and it's enough to get by plenty comforably." His eyes fell on Ammit. "I'll take good care of her. And I won't try to bring Al Sheratan back. She's healthy, and she looks like she's happy." He smiled as she got onto Psyche. She was a natural. In answer to her question, he said. "I'm Conan. It means wise. My ma liked it."

He smiled and ran his hand over one side. Not bone-thin, but she could use some meat on her. "I will come see you sometime when Ammit is in better condition. Right now I think I ought to let her graze a bit and get some weight on her."

Aralyn

Aralyn smiled and extended her hand "my names Aralyn. I dont think it means anything but I like it well enough. The demoness beneath me is Psyche. Its nice to meet you Conan." she smiled and waited for a moment before her worries got the better of her. "I gotta go. I need to find Malon...my dog."

Ammit bobbed her head as if in agreement. Slowly she lowered her head taking a few bites out of the blades at her feet before raising her head to Conans whuffling in his face. He was so kind and gentle, much unlike her old home.

Conan

He smiled quietly at Aralyn, liking her frankness. "Very well, Aralyn, (and here he took a small bow)Psyche. Go find your friend. Here's hoping to see you soon.

He then backed up to stand by Ammit, laughing quietly as she whuffled at him. His hand went up for just a moment to her ears, scratching contentedly. Then he moved it down to rest on her side as she grazed, standing in companionable silence.

Ammit

She let out a quiet neigh as Aralyn and Psyche left the girl waving to Conan. She didnt want her new friend to leave but she wasnt going to follow. She liked Conan to much to leave. Being an arabian however she was getting restless. She needed to move but it pained her to much to do so frustrating the black mare. Letting out an irritated snort she lifted one hoof pawing it on the ground in irritation causing the bleeding to start once more. Letting out an annoyed groan she shook her head fiercly. It wasnt fair.

Conan

Conan shook his head a little, and washed the wound out again, putting a new layer of balm on it. "Alright, we'll walk, Ammit. But slowly, ok? Move slow so they don't break open again." He didn't know how much she understood, but he laid a hand on her neck and began to move forward slowly, slowly, letting her stretch her legs but at a pace that wouldn't make the wounds bleed.

Ammit

She snorted ready to run but realized that would displease him. She walked slowly happy to be moving again. She sniffed the air and snorted once more as the smell of wolf and dog came to her nares. It wasnt just any wolf or dog though...It was Aaka and her friend Soulless....But Soulless wasnt around....was he? She felt like dancing showing Conan that she appreicated what he was doing but she stipped herself. He didnt want her to bleed again....So she would walk slowly just for him. Soon he would learn that that was hard for her. It was always hard for her to walk slow

Conan

Conan saw her restless prancing, and laid a hand on her muzzle, gently bringing her up short. "Easy there, Ammit. You need to lets those wounds heal before you take a run. Give it a few minutes, and then I'll let you run."

Ammit

She stopped up short but when she heard the word run was ready to go once more. She stopped herself tossing her head high letting out a shrill whistle. She turned to him ready to run wondering where he was going to take her to stay. They certainly couldnt stay here...To many wolves in the area.

Conan

He smiled as she obeyed him instantly, and after a few minutes, he lifted his hand from her side. "Those wounds shouldn't bleed anymore now. Go on girl, run off your energy. And then we'll take Aralyn up on her offer." And he stood back to let her run.

Ammit

Letting out a whinny the mare charged forward racing around the prarie then back again to Conan to make sure he was still there. She wanted to make sure that he wasnt a figment of her imagination. She wanted to show him her speed her grace her aigility. The setting sun on her coat made it shine her muscles bunched as she took off once more around and around Conan. She whirled suddenly heading in a different direction. A racer born and bred.

Conan

He smiled, watching her run. The light on her coat took his breath away, and he could only watch in amazement at the smoothness with which she moved, the grace in every turn, and yet so fast... He said nothing, but watched her.

Ammit

She let out a whistle then came racing back to Conan sliding to a stop in front of him. She lowered her head and sniffed at his pockets searching for a treat. She let out a whicker and danced in front of him waiting for him to do something.

Conan

He obediently extracted a sugar cube from one pocket, and held it out, flat-palmed, for her. Then, seeing she was feeling better, said, "How about that trip to see Aralyn, then?"

Ammit

She bobbed her head up and down as if agreeing after taking the sugar. She would offer to let him ride her but....she wasnt exactly trained in anything. She turned waiting for Conan to lead the way to woodland farm.

Conan

He didn't really think that she was ready for riding yet, but then maybe Aralyn would help him. She needed grooming, and he wanted to use the right tools, and there were other things that he wanted to do before he tried to ride her. So he began picking his way on foot, a high pitched whistle indicating for her to follow.
