Songa

The mare neighed loudly, calling for the Horse Clan. She had gotten seperated from them a while ago and was panicked to be on her own. And still, the old halter was around her muzzle. She had tried to rub it off, but had only succeeded in scratching up her velvety muzzle.

The Horse Clan

Apache Outlaw and his mate, Libertys Ride, were grazing in the open, quite a distance away from Songa. It was true, they had been seperated. Outlaw's ears perked forward with much curiousity at first, but then he realized that the neighing was from one of the Clan members. His powerful hinds pushed him off the ground as he sent a loud neigh back in reply to Songa. He called to the Clan to follow him, and they all did. Soon they found the missing mare and Outlaw slowed into a quick canter to her, Libertys Ride and the rest of the Clan right behind him. "Hello, again. Where were you-- and what happened to your muzzle?" he said, quite concerned. He hadn't noticed that she had been trying to rub it off. It never came to his mind.

Songa

She whinnied at the sight of the clan approaching, overjoyed that her call had been heard. Her long head came down slightly, "I got myself lost. The humans spooked me at the Canyon." The mare admitted and shook her head slightly, annoyed at the sensation of the halter and the scrapes. "I've been trying to get this blasted thing off of me for ages. I've tried rubbing it off, but I only end up scratching my muzzle... if only I could reach it with my teeth!" The mare snorted in frustration, but cept herself in check around her leads.

The Horse Clan

Outlaw nodded. "Humans are horrible! We are still missing one of our Clan members due to them. I don't know how you can realy get that off... I can't think of anything but me myself chewing it off... But then again... Hmmm..." He shook his head, deep in thought. Then some idea popped into his head, "Maybe you can get some other animal to rip it off, like some deer or something."

Songa

Her eyes lit up with memory, "That's right! That one deer, the molted white and brown one... she said she'd help me." Songa looked questioningly from horse to horse, "Do any of you know where that herd is? With all the strange deer in it? I'm sure they could help. They've got smaller muzzles."

The Horse Clan

Outlaw was confused at this. Herd of strange deer? He never met any herd of strange deer. But just as he was about to speak, Libertys Ride came up beside him. "I remember Free Spirit saying he was going to go to the Ranch somewhere with that strange herd of deer. That was before they left, though. They may already be somewhere else by now. Perhaps if you found Free Spirit, he may be with one of the deer." she said, seemingly blurting it out. "Listen to her," Outlaw said, "because I know nothing of these strange deer."

Songa

She directed her attention to Libertys Ride, focusing on what was said. "That's where I last saw them, after we left you from the Canyon." Songa pointed out, remembering the incident now. "I hope he wasn't captured or..." Songa shuddered at the thought of what humans could do. "I just hope he's ok."

The Horse Clan

Libertys Ride nodded her head. "I bet he's okay. He is a good fighter and great at hiding."

Outlaw tilted his hoof on the ground, wondering about where that frisky colt galloped off to now.

Songa

She nodded and dipped her head to graze. But no sooner did she do that than a sound came to her ears. There was another mare in the prairie! Hearing her neigh, Songa looked questioningly to her lead, "Did you hear that? I don't think it was far off..."

The Horse Clan

"I heard it," Outlaw said, raising his head, "and I also smell a deer and..." he stopped talking and looked around, "Free Spirit!" He reared up halfway, glad to know that he was okay and back in the place they lived at. They would soon find a real home though. When the moment would be right. Outlaw would scavenge and claim a herdland for the Clan. A privet little herdland would be excellent for the Clan's safety.
