Vevisca

The amount of old bones here didn't sit well with the wolf, nor did the ominous black-feathered birds perched in the trees around him. Crows, ravens, and turkey vultures had begun to frequent this area after so many creatures had lost their life in the tainted land, but here and there, he saw the frail little corpses of the birds themselves... not even the harbingers of death were spared entirely from the virulent plague in this tortured stretch of earth.

So why had grizzled and buff-colored wolf ventured here on his own? The reason was simple - he was starving, and there was potential to scavenge of bit of flesh that might still be clinging to the old skeletons scattered through the Scar. 'What was that?' Vevisca thought to himself as he lifted his head, hearing the crunch of leaves in the distance. 'Probably just a stupid squirrel... relax, Vev.'

Rein

Unlike Vevisca, she didn't know why she was here. She wasn't starving. But her pack was just so... lifeless right now. Boring. Everything was boring. It wouldn't be boring if you would just go hunt down Saydin. Aaka's voice filtered through her brain. Rein shook her head and continued on, carefully stepping over the remains of others. It sickened her, seeing all these dead lifeless bodies. If something is dead, ovviously its going to be lifeless idiot. A soft growl escaped Rein's lips. It was hard having Aaka in her head all the time. She suddenly caught a glimpse of something, something moving, and she lowered her head a bit to blend with the ground around her. She came a bit closer, and gave a soft bark to alert the male of her prescence. She didn't recognize him, but that didn't mean much.

Vevisca

The strong, musty odor of fungi were almost overpowering, making the wolf sneeze and shake his head to clear out the scent... only to have it fill his senses with the next breath he took. 'Uggh, this isn't worth it! I should have started at the Lake.' So far, all he'd found were bones, with nothing left on them for him to make so much as a snack out of, let alone a meal to fill his hollowed belly. Growing disgruntled and discouraged at the lack of food, Vevisca was ready to head out of the area, when a bark stopped him. His head shot up and his ears turned to the wolfess, and for a second, Vevisca's heart seemed to jump up into his throat. "...do I know you?" It looked like Aaka, but... she'd died. A while ago.

Rein

She tilted her head to the side a bit watching him. Reincarnation. Most folks around here call me Rein. How are you, Vevisca? Her voice was like Aaka's, only softer. Not as cold. She gave a faint smile. How are you? She took a step closer, the light catching her coat just right in the sunlight making it seem to shimmer. Walk with me? She set off, not seeming to mind the stench of the scar. It sure has declined, hasn't it? I remember how beautiful it used to be. I was only hear a couple times. She talked nonchalantly. She fully expected him to follow her. She was just that way. She glanced over at Vevisca. You know. You should eat more. You look like a bag of bones. She gave a smile. Super soft, super sweet.

Vevisca

The wolf, with his one eye staring at Rein like he'd seen a ghost, didn't respond right off the bat. Sure, he'd been in the Valley all his life, but not many knew him by name, and the way she brought his up so casually only struck him with more surprise. It wasn't until she gave her faint smile that he snapped out of his stupor and blinked his golden eye, "I'm, eh... I'm good." He forced a smile himself, despite the confusion running rampant in his brain. "And you, Rein?" Vevisca didn't need to be asked twice; despite his current alarm, he wouldn't pass up the chance to take a wolf with a femme as lovely as this one, particularly when it was difficult to come across another wolf that was so openly friendly and sweet as she was being now. "Oh, you mean the Bog? Something happened this spring to it, killed most of the trees, and the animals - I imagine the two-leggers are responsible for it." He theorized this, though he had no proof one way or the other to say what was the reason for the Bog's rapid decline into decay. "Food's been a little scarce to come by lately, I guess." His smile turned a little more sincere, and just a touch sheepish when she looked back at him.

Rein

She gave a smile to Vevisca. Life is life, I guess. She murmured softly. The wolfess looked about the decayed bog. Why look for food here? Why not somewhere more... Well. More. This place makes no sense to look for food. It was dead here. Vultures circled high up in the sky, rotting flesh capturing their attention. Reincarnation wrinkled her nose a bit. Plus, it's always to catch something to eat if you have help. She said softly. She gave a faint smile to the male. I kinda like him. He's... sweet. She felt Aaka roll her eyes. Inside, Aaka wished to see Legosa. She missed her mate. But the hybrid was... Well. Himself. Seeing Rein didn't exactly mean good. One place that's always rich in food is the ranch.... We could always head out there.... Find something to eat. It was fall. Baby calves would be being born, maybe a month or two old now. Or maybe a chicken.... Something.... Food. Food was good.

Vevisca

He cast his single eye about the gloomy atmosphere and gave his nose a slight wriggle to pick up scents. "I was hoping to find a carcass, but it looks like the scavengers have cleared all of them already." And it was true, as here and there would lie the skeleton of some unfortunate creature who had died earlier in the year, with the bleach white bones being slowly covered by the green stain of algae and the black specks of mold. Far from edible now. His attention and gaze shot back to Rein when she mentioned help, and the smile came back, "I haven't been to the ranch in ages. If you're up to it, I'm game for a bit of hunting there." His tail gave a small wag; not only was this fae very friendly and open, she had a slightly daring side to her. Or at the very least, a boldness to hunt the human's food that he found just as intriguing.

Rein

A smile flitted across her lips. She was more then willing to leave this place of decay and disgust and get to somewhere with much lusher, greener grasses. And food that was a bit more... Lively. Let's go then. The Ranch house? I'm sure we could find some chickens or something to eat. She started to head thatway, fully expecting him to follow.

Vevisca

A sneeze shook the wolf's body and made him wrinkle up his muzzle. The thick, musty odor of fungus was everywhere, even during the cold of winter when such growth should have stopped. "The Ranch it is." Vevisca agreed, following after Rein, padding close to her but not quite shoulder to shoulder yet. "Chicken sounds much better than old rotten flesh any day. If we're lucky, maybe there'll be a cat or two as well." It had been so long since he'd last attacked the ranch, and he wasn't sure if the place was still well guarded by dogs or not. Either way, he was up for a bit of excitement, and particularly happy to have some company with him this time around.
