*Tremor*
A faint quiver went through the earth, but it was so faint that only the most perseptive of humans could feel it. It only lasted for a second...
Dusty
The black hybrid had spent a lot of his time up in the White River mountains. But like his sister, it was time that he found a pack. The winter had proved hard on him; although his thick ebony pelt didn't easily show it, his frame had grown lean with hunger. His dusty-colored eyes shown with that hunger as well as they flickered this way and that, hoping to spy something to eat.
It was Dusty's first time around humans, and he wasn't sure what to do. He was three-quarters wolf, and looked almost purely of lupine blood. It was his smaller size and a few slight differences in his skull-build that showed the dog blood in him; he was quarter tervuren shepherd, thanks to his grandfather, Hueros.
As Dusty made his way into the outskirts of town, picking the most desperted looking streets, he felt a strange sensation beneath him. The hybrid paused, wondering at what that tremor came from. His eyes darted around suspisciously, but his hunger soon set him back on his original course; looking for food.
Niavo
Niavo was heading towards Dusty when the tremor hit, making him pause as well. His first instinct was to look around for a large vehicle or something to blame for the disturbance. Yet he neither saw nor one. Shrugging it off, the ebony hybrid moved closer to Dusty before giving a sharp bark. "Greetings, stranger. I'm Niavo, leader of the Imperial Diadem pack." He waited for the other's response.
Dusty
Dusty instantly dropped his posture once Niavo came to him and stated his leadership. "Diadem Pack? I'm afraid I haven't heard of it. But... I am searching for a place to call home. Might I reside with you and your pack?" A pack meant loyalty. A pack meant food.
*Tremor*
A second tremor hit, rocking the ground more violently than the first one. It would be hard for the canines to stay on their paws as the earth quaked for nearly 30 terrifying seconds. Hear and there, a lamp post or ill-built house would come crashing down.
Niavo
Niavo was just dipping his head into a nod when the tremor struck again. The ebony hybrid lurched to his side before regaining his balance. But the earth shifted so fast and unpredictably underneath him, that Niavo tripped over his own feet and fell back onto his haunches. Snarling in confusion and doing his best to stand, he turned to Dusty "What's going on?" But all of a sudden, it was over. A haze of dust had risen up, sending a dreary look to the shaken landscape.
Dusty
Dusty totally lost his balance and flopped to his side. He snarled sharply when a brick came crashing down near him from a building, but he was lucky not to get hit by it. By the time he was able to get back on his paws, the tremor had died away, leaving the hybrid very much alarmed and confused. Shaking grime from his pelt, Dusty turned uncertain eyes to his new friend, "I'm not sure... But look at what it caused. Maybe the humans did it?" Dusty looked at the fallen signs and crumpled buildings, then shook his head.
Niavo
Niavo sighed and shook his head, "I'm not sure. Possibly..." The black hybrid felt very uneasy right now, "We might as well get a bite to eat, and stay clear of this area for a while. How does some sheep meat sound?"
