Risen
She finally came into the land, looking around and smelling for the scents of any prey. After wafting the air she looked to both sky and ground for her wolf and bird comrades.
Dally
Using his greatest asset, the peregrine falcon took turns gliding above the canopy to, then swooping in below the branches. Sharp eyes were alert for any potential prey, while he always was on the lookout for potential dangers to the pack. Mostly enemies.
Cavan & Nachi
Moving at a pace for the slowest of her darling pups to keep up with, Nachi followed after Risen. In her mind, she went over different hunting techniques; including those she learned from her greatly adored feline friends, and the late kodiac bear, her sorely missed 'mother', Athara. "Spread out a little bit, but not too far. You mustn't stray in such a place..." She said, speaking in a quiet, hushed voice so as not to scare any potential prey. "The more ground we cover, the better our chances of finding something."
Cavan remained behind Risen and Nachi, helping to keep an eye on the pups. His nose was working overtime all the while, trying to detect any potential prey.
Hidden Betrayal*.battered.
Was he part of the pack? Well, no not really. But, Nachi absolutly adored the cougar and having him amongst the crowd could be a great asset. He stalked past the quiet Betrayal and forth towards Risen. "Disaster, he is taking care of some business at the packlands. It seems there is a visitor. He says he will deal with it and be here shortly." Betrayal had sent him to tell Risen this, she had already known and let the bird stay. It wasn't that big of a deal to her.
Betrayal watched the others, especially Risen. She couldn't use strength over the other, or weight for that matter. They were both pretty close in size, sleek, slender. Her eyes drifted to the pups, and watched there actions as well. She had never been a big fan of pups, had never really been one for other wolves really.
Monarda
Loping past Cavan and Nachi, Monarda kept pace slightly behind Risen and Betrayal, staying off to the side a ways. Her tail was straight out behind her, her head at shoulder level. Mustard-gold eyes scanned the view ahead, but there was so much brush and tall trees that vision was not the best tool at the moment; at least for those stuck on the ground. Not until they got closer to their quarry.
Lion & Tersek
The two brothers followed after Nachi, with Tersek being slightly in head of Lion. In his mind, he imagined all of the creatures he would be slaying today, who's heads he'd drag back to the Temple to connect with his lost sister. Risen's words still rang in his mind, and he felt greatly impowered by them.
Lion, being far more sensible and practible than his brother, knew that hunting was not always an easy business. He had no doubts about the abilities of his mother and the rest of the adults in the pack, but he didn't know what he was capable of yet. This was, afterall, his first hunting experience. Still optimistic though, he did his best to mimick the adults as they searched for prey, paying close attention to Nachi, Risen, and Betrayal as his mentors.
Risen .+. Sacrifice .+. Silver Trace .+. Wither .+. Ynear
Risen's head stayed higher than the rest though continued to sniff the ground and air. Her eyes darting back and forth from figure to figure. Her fur shooting up as the cougar arrived but she gave him a nod in acknowledgement. Turning and continueing to look for some prey.
Sacrifice came up with clean jaws. Her mission was done but the pups didn't have to know of their sister. She came up and around the pack. Placing herself just slightly behind Monarda. Her pace was low and angry, strong and proud. She was just as dark as the others, yet she had a light inside of her. The light however was smothered, thus far, and continued to be supressed by the darkness. She fanned out to the side of the pack. Keeping them in sight but making sure she could cover more ground.
Silver Trace fell behind the rest of the pack. She kept her eyes open though she didn't know what she was looking for. Her ears however were faced back to listen to any invaders, or anything else that would be behind them. The coming and going of different members spooked her a bit, but she kept up her pace and continued to sniff the air.
Wither was following close to Tersek. Her pride and power glowing in her strides as she looked around for anything that didn' look wolf... or the strange feline that spoke with Risen. She assumed with wasn't one to attack so she looked for something different.
Ynear stayed close to Nachi. Her eyes wide and shifting quickly. Even in the thick brush, everything was clear to her. Every detail of the trees, every leaf piece of bark. In the distance she saw movements of other creatures. Whispering to Nachi, who couldn't see what she could so clearly, "I see we are getting close." Her voice was almost not there. Reaching out for only her mother to hear.
*Moose*
Ynear's vision was true, for there were creatures in the distance, hidden in a small mound of heather. Two yearling moose cows, and their pregnant mother. It would be time for the twins to strike out on their own soon, but they would enjoy the company of their mother until spring set in, at least.
Nachi & Cavan
Nachi turned her eyes in the direction that Ynear had looked, but failed to see anything for herself. However, she had noted this sickly youngster seemed to posess a sight that exceeded all of her siblings, and so she did not deny what the young one told her. "You are gifted, my darling. Tell me what you see... is it large?" Her voice, too, was kept low and faint, so as only Ynear could pick up on it. But as she spoke, she glanced briefly back to her brother and nodded slightly, her eyes flashing him a message of prey.
Cavan picked up his pace, jogging up near his sister as he stretched his neck forward, testing the sublte breeze that shifted through the dense forested area. Making up for his lacking sight and hearing, scent was his gift. Still, it took several long moments before he detected the smallest trace of prey. His good eye lit up slightly as he nodded to his sister, silently confirming that Ynear was indeed right. Prey was very near.
Risen .+. Ynear .+. Silver Trace .+. Wither .+. Sacrifice
Risen continued her trek, taking a deep breath as they grew near to the moose. She smelt it moments after Ynear had spoken of it. Yet they were not in range to hunt just yet.
Ynear nodded to her mother, looking hard at the shapes in the distance. "They seem fairly large. Standing about half the size of a year old sapling or more. There is one larger one, a belly that is swollen, and two medium. Their faces are long and their snouts well rounded. Larger shoulders with shrunken hind quarters." She had never seen a moose before. It was the only way she could discribe it.
Silver Trace was the first out of the rest to perk her ears toward the moose. She gave a soft grunt as she lowered her body into a stance to push her against the ground. Hoping it would help propell herself.
Risen saw the moose now and nodded to the members to enclose them in a circle. Wither, though smaller than most, moved around to hide in the side. Sacrifice made her way all the way around. Facing the rest of the pack. Silver trace was the one to join her, they would be the ones to spook to moose into runing into the ambush of wolves.
Just a few paces away, Risen crouched down, giving the signal for everyone to take a place, where the prey might run. Wither was on the outermost on the right side while Ynear stayed near Nachi, however she was closer to the middle.
When the wolves were set Sacrifice and Wither would spring on the moose to get them to run right into the pack. They had just enough distance to judge which one would be the easiest to take down.
Lion & Tersek
As the pack began to take formation after the prey was scented, Lion headed after Silver Trace. He spaced himself out evenly between her and the next closest wolf to his other side. There he crouched, like a lioness awaiting a zebra to be flushed her way.
Tersek also followed the example the pack was setting, though he would have prefered to rush right at the moose and take them out himself. He'd have to learn the hard way how fruitless such efforts would turn out. But as it was, he obeyed the will of Risen and positioned himself a short distance away from Ynear and Nachi as he waited for the flush.
Cavan & Nachi
Nachi took a more central place in the line of ambushing wolves. Muscles tensed, she crouched down slightly to better hide herself from the moose so she'd have the element of surprise on them. "Watch for the hooves." She whispered to Ynear, glancing once at her favored youngster before looking ahead and waiting for the other two to flush the prey forward.
Cavan settled himself further out from his sister, flanking the far side of the ambush line. If the moose veered away, he hoped his position would enable him to block the prey and send them back to the others.
Monarda
Following the procession of the others, Monarda placed herself within the blocade of wolves awaiting the moose. Keeping low, she perked her ears forward to better hear any signals that might be given, or to hear the approach of the moose. To tell the truth, this was her first 'big' hunt, and she was curious to see how everything might go down. Before, it had always been rabbits and other such small prey on her menu; never something this large.
Dally
Hearing a distant noise, Dally pulled up past the dense boughs of the Bog's trees. He took a quick survey of the land, and saw no obvious trouble for Risen and the pack, so he headed for the Ruins to investigate this call he heard.
Disaster*Hidden Betrayal
She looked above and saw Dally take off, hearing the noise as well. Glancing to Risen, she turned and loped towards the Ruins to take care of the matter at hand
Disaster arrived, the harris hawk greatly angered. Helping a wolf who had tried to eat him, ha! Who were they kidding. He had done his job. Flying over head, he watched for any signs of danger.
Risen .+. Sacrifice .+. Wither .+. Ynear .+. Silver Trace
Everyone of them sat tembling in anticipation as Risen crouched low and calm. Golden eyes watching the moose as they had no movement to their strategy. As she caught sight that the others were ready on the other side of them, her ears flicked a few times as she tossed her head to give the signal for the others to start their run.
Sacrice nodded and watched Sliver Trace and Lion. She smiled at the pups and whispered to them. "Lets go." With that Sacrifice darted out, followed by Silver Trace just a half a second after. When they came into view of the moose Silver Trace broke right, left to the rest of the pack, and Sacrifice broke left. They had instructed Lion to line down the middle to push the prey in the absolute direction they wanted them to go. If the moose were to veer to one side, the wolf on that side would slow and keep them, snapping at them until they were close enough to the others for the other wolves to jump out and ambush. As soon as the moose were in range Risen lept up and ran at one of the younger cows. Flashing the sign to exterminate them. Wither joined Risen and attacked at the neck like Risen had done. If the attack was precise they would both dangle from one of the youngsters throat.
Lion & Tersek
Lion nodded to show his acknowledgment of the instructions. As Sacrifice and Silver Trace began their run, he began his as well. Keeping himself positioned equally between the two females, he ran hard and fast with his lips pulled back just slightly so that his strikingly white fangs could be seen by the moose. A warning for them that they had better run like hell.
Tersek could hardly contain himself as he waited and watched. He glanced from Risen to Nachi, growing more antsy by the second. The instant Risen broke cover, the large male did as well. Lunging from the frozen undergrowth, he rushed around the side of the pregant cow, then leapt up at her side, trying to sink his teeth into her swollen abdomen.
Lion picked up his pace and decided to hit the third yearling cow if he could catch up with her. Being behind the moose, he sprung for her haunch. He wasn't near the weight of his adult form yet, but being over half a year old, he was sure his weight would be enough to at least hinder the creature's escape.
Cavan & Nachi
As the moose drew near, she leapt straight for the mother. "Watch the hooves!" She warned again to her dear Ynear before setting her sights back on the cow. She wasn't use to taking on such large prey, but she knew a good technique for these large creatures. Careful to aim her jump and timing, she tried to bite the moose's noose and cling on to it. If she got her target, she'd spring backwards continuously to keep herself out of the hoof range.
Cavan had a different strategy. Going for the yearling that Lion had selected, the half-blind wolf went for the cow's opposite haunch. Like Lion, he would use his weight to pull the creature down so it could be more easily dispatched by the other pack members.
Monarda
While Cavan and Lion went for the back of the second yearling, Monarda decided to assault it from the front. Hoping that the first two would indeed slow her down, Monarda sprung for a throat hold. Although a relatively young adult, she had enough common sense to keep away from the bone-crushing hooves.
*Moose*
As predicted, the three readily took off when the wolves came after them. The two yearlings didn't know that it would be better to stand their ground, and the mother knew she'd have a hard time standing her ground in the condition she was in.
A strangled cry went up when the first yearling found two wolves leaping for her from out of no where. Before she could change her path or lash out at them, two sets of fangs had burried into her throat. Blood began to seep steadly from the wounds, but the yearling was nearly as big as her mother, and had a lot of fight. Struggling against the weight, she tried to kick at Wither with her front hooves.
The second yearling kicked out with her hind limbs when she saw Lion going for her, and then Cavan. The wolves were a touch quicker than her though, and soon found their holds. Her back end gave way for a moment under the weight, but she managed to stagger to her hooves again. About this time, another wolf came at her. Monarda sunk her fangs deep into the neck, and the young cow couldn't bear the weight. With a bellow, she crumpled to her knees, then fell to her side. Desperate to live, she began to thrash and kick her legs, hoping to hit one of the wolves.
The mother gave a swift, accurate side-kick, just clipping Tersek along the side of his head. It would be enough to give him a nasty cut and send him to the ground, but it wasn't disabling. As she focused ahead, she found a second wolf lunging at her. Before she could pull back, Nachi had a grip on her muzzle. With a muffled cry, she pulled back and shook her head wildly, trying to dislodge the creature.
Risen .+. Silver Trace .+. Sacrifice .+. Wither .+. Ynear
Risen felt her fangs puncture the neck and she began to thrash about, hoping to break the windpipe and suffocate the victum. Wither found herself dodging hooves however one was able to nick her on the collar bone. Leaving her pure white pelt to be tainted by the red dye. However she didn't let go, instead she bit down harder and began to pull away as if to drag the cow with her.
Sacrifice nodded to the other two then jumped on the first cow. By passing a simple jump, she lept onto the back of the moose that was being choked by Risen and Wither. Her jaws aiming for the top part of the neck to break the vertibrea and kill the prey.
Silver Trace took to the other side, the swollen cow. Leaping like her sister yet falling short. Her teeth would grag the base part of her neck, if not her upper fore leg. It wasn't safe and she knew it. After a strong bite she jumped away and lunged again at the fea, this time she began to bite her eyes and ears, trying to grab the latch of her throat.
Ynear hesitated as all of the wolves sprang from their places. Her eyes began to dart and she saw her mother with the swollen cow. Everything was so bright, so clear, even the blood that trickled down her sister's collar was clearly visible to her. But she knew she couldnt' stand there gawking. With a spurt from her legs she lept at the pregnant moose. Her mother had told her to watch the feet. That's what she did, keeping her eyes close for when the fea put full weight on a single front limb, enough to slow the reflexes to kick at her, she lunged and bit at the most tender part of the foot, just above the hoof. Gripping with all her strength, and probably helped by the moose lifting the foot in suprise, she began to pull back. To force the cow to either lie down or hope toward those who were already tearing apart her face.
Cavan & Nachi
Cavan sank his fangs in deep, thrashing his head and snarling as he did so. Experience told him this would help throw the creature into disabling shock, if she were not killed by other means first. And blood loss of course, usually a key factor in the killing of larger game by most wolves. He gave a few more snaps before relinquishing the prey to Lion and Monarda. Assured that they could handle the downed beast, he headed straight for the pregant cow, trying to get his teeth locked onto the side of the creature's head. His snarls grew more furocious now as he yanked and tugged, trying to bring the beast down before it might harm his sister.
Nachi was keen enough to keep herself out of danger, but if there was one thing she couldn't control, it was her brother's unyeilding overprotective nature. Enduring his close proximity, she kept up her relentless tugging at the moose's nose.
Monarda
She clenched her jaws tighter, whipping her dial savagely from side to side as she tried to grind her fangs deeper into the flesh. Unwilling to release her hold, she was careful to keep clear of the hooves as the moose flailed.
Lion & Tersek
Lion held his grip as Cavan left to aid his sister. Pivotting around so that he was behind the moose, the young hybrid found himself comfortably safe from the flying hooves. While Monarda dug at the throat, Lion mimicked Cavan's previous actions and chomped repeatedly at the haunch, trying to draw as much blood out and cause massive damage.
Tersek held back a yelp as he world spun around in front of him. Tumbing across the trampled ground, the large youngster was swift to get back to his feet, blood seeping steadily down from his wounded head. Undetered by the minor setback, he threw himself at the cow again, trying once more for the abdomen, although this time was a bit more mindful of the deadly weapons.
*Moose*
The first yearling gave a herculean effort to keep herself upright against the weight of the wolves. Her tounge was soon protruding from the side of her mouth as she gasped for breath. Her airway was become more constricted with every passing second as pressure was directed over her airway. Her legs quivered, then finally buckled as Sacrifice landed on her back. She kicked again at the wolves clinging to her throat, eyes wide and glossy now as her windpipe was almost completely crushed. Before she had to endure the pains of suffocation however, Sacrifice broke the creature's neck. The yearling went lax in death.
The mother fought hard, and remained standing even though she was beset by five wolves now. With a display of sheer strength and a burning desire to surivive and protect her unborn calf, the cow managed to pull back slightly despite having two wolves latched to her head now. With a defiant bellow, she struck out with her front hooves, catching Cavan across the side of the chest and shoulder. But because she was being weighed down and at an akward stance, the kick was not full-force, and so not a lethal one. Before she had time to deliver another strike, Ynear had a hold on her. As predicted, she tried to lift her leg and jar it away from those wolvish jaws, but to no avail. The pain was excrutiating, and made suddenly worse as Silver Trace and Tersek dug their canines into her sides. This was too much for the mother, and she crumpled under the strain, going to her knees. During all of this, she began to get lightheaded, finding it terribly hard to breath while her nose was clamped onto by Nachi.
The second yearling made a surprise turnabout and staggered to her hooves when Cavan departed. The pain on her haunches was atrocious, but her fight to survive overrode that. The yearling jerked her head up, pulling her neck out of Monarda's reach just before the fangs found a secure enough hold. Then she plunged forward, bucking madly to throw Lion off as she tried to make a run for it. Blood was running freely from her wounds, but if she could just get that youngster off of her, she just might be able to survive this encounter.
Monarda
Snarling in furstration, Monarda danced nimbly away from the thundering hooves as the yearling began to run. Mustard-tinted eyes flashed to Lion, "Let it go; lets take the mother." She knew that pack would be well fed as it was with one yearling down, so it didn't bother her much that the second one was getting away. Besides, it looks like they nearly had the mother as well. When the cow was pulled down, she went again for the neck, this time for the side of it.
Cavan & Nachi
With a yelp, Cavan lost his hold and staggered back, stunned by the blow. Blood blossomed out over his grayish chest, leaking steadily from the gash the hoof caused. For a moment, he couldn't bear any weight on his front limb as his shoulder thronged with pain, but he remained standing as he tried to catch his breath.
Nachi continued to tug even as the moose went down. Harder and harder she bit, trying to draw blood that would help choke the cow and further complicate her breathing.
Limping forward with his fangs bared in outrage, Cavan set his fangs for the other side of the moose's neck, searching for a lifevein to severe.
Risen .+. Silver Trace .+. Sacrifice .+. Wither .+. Ynear
Risen felt the calf die beneath her, with a final jerk of her head she lunged at the mother. Grabbing at her flank and biting deep into her swollen gut. Hoping to distroy the life that was in her as well as tear her organs from use.
Sacrifice continue her asult on the mother calf. Tearing at her head and neck. Ynear let go of the leg now that the cow was on the ground. With a flash she was up on the cows gullet. Trying to sufficate the rest of her life out. Wither held down the dead calf. Making sure it would not get back up, then watched as the mother was assulted with no chance of living.
*Moose*
The mother was doomed now, and she knew it. But still, she struggled against the pain and weakness, thrashing violently trying in vain to rise up. If she could not protect her unborn calf, at least she was giving her surviving daughter enough time to make her escape. For an entire minute, the cow struggled full-force against the pack, but she was never able to rise to her hooves. With a rattling sigh, she toppled onto her side, her eyes glassy and her movements stilled. The moose was dead.
Risen .+. Silver Trace .+. Sacrifice .+. Wither .+. Ynear
Risen held herself then let go of the cow. Watching at the two they had just killed with a proud glow. The pack was strong, just as she had excepted. The pups were strong, which she believed a good omen. However the pups were far from their full potential, and she knew that.
With a nod she escorted the rest of the pack with her eyes. As she had promised; Nachi and the pups would go first in celebration for the pup’s first successful hunt. The rest of the pack would have to wait until after Risen and then take their turns, She knew very well both moose would be a hefty meal for the whole pack.
There was only one thing that bothered Risen now. Her promised three skulls had turned into two. If the pups complained she would hunt the third to keep their trust. Either that or she would ask one of the birds to hunt and give the skull of their prey to the pack. But she hoped that two would be fine for now. The heat of the hunt may have even made them forget for now.
Sacrifice saw the sign and walked to her sister’s side with her head slightly up and tail down to show she had authority, yet was still lower than others in the group. Her half toned face stared at the pups as if in marvel at their strength. However she could not comment since most of them were related to her and Risen who both were stronger than they appeared. She nodded to Nachi, "You have done a fine job with the pups, they are very skilled because of you. And no doubt they will grow much stronger" She smirked and nodded. Risen nodded in agreement to the complement her half-sister had given.
Silver Trace stood from the mess and smile at the kills. Her mind was in the victory of their feat and not on the promise Risen had made for outcast. Though Outcast flickered in her mind, "This is for you sister" She said in an undertone. Wither had heard her and nodded in agreement. "o Outcast." The white pup walked up to the mother but looked to Nachi for guidance. She was confused if she should go first or let the mother wolf, and she dared not to take the first bite.
Ynear also let her hold go, staring at the beast then looking up to her mother. Her tail gave a soft side-to-side then waited patiently to know if she should begin eating. Dark orbs searched the wolves around her and she knew they were praising the pups. She was happy that the hunt was successful.
Nachi & Cavan
Her tail swished a bit from side to side and a brief look was given to Sacrifice when she complimented her. "Much stronger indeed." Nachi added, smiling proudly as she now looked from one pup to the next, "My childeren, enjoy the spoils of your hard work! We will bring the skulls back when we are finished." As she gave them permission to feast with her, Nachi nuzzled Ynear on the top of the head before whispering to her, "You make me very proud."
Cavan took a few steps back, watching contently as Nachi was given praise. "A fine job, Sis." The wolf said, as the two siblings shared a sincere smile. As Nachi began to eat, the brother sauntered towards Risen. He held his head as high as he could without exceeding the alphess. At four years of age, Cavan was in his prime now, and his confidence and ego were as great as ever, "It's interesting to have two fatales leading a pack, but I think there ought to be a male up top as well." It was a bold move to make, but Cavan was just itching to pull himself higher on the ladder. For a quick moment, he let his single eye make contact with Risen's, showing his was utterly serious about being promoted. However, there was no aggression shown- he wasn't one for fighting the females.
Vampyre
You sure as hell aren't having my place.
A black wolfess trotted up briskly behind the pack, she slowed down as she approached them. She could only make out the blurry figures of the other pack members, but could smell and hear them exceptionally well. A menacing glare from those silvery eyes was directed to Cavan, just to show him he was not going to take her place as beta of the pack without a fight. Next she approached Risen, he head and tail dipped slightly.
I appologise for my absense in this hunt, Risen. I just had personal...matters to attend to.
The femme waited, to see her reaction, while also dipping her head to Betrayal in respect.
Cavan
Disreguarding Vampyre's threatening posture, Cavan held himself in a position that declared his ranking was higher than her's. "I'm not interesting in being in second place." Came his retort, ears pressed forward in challenge, though he held back with showing his fangs yet. It went against him to attack any female, but if provoked...
The World is Yours....
Risen .+. pups
Ynear was happy, quite happy indeed. As her mother nuzzled the top of her head, she answered sincerely, "As do you, mother." She smiled, then began to tear away the fur from the cows soft flank. Digging into the tender warm flesh of what was alive just moments ago.
Ynear was followed by her full sister, Wither. The fatale began chewing on the neck and digging upward to get to the shoulder and chest muscles since the torso was hard from the pregnancy. She didn't like the rough skin of the pregnant cow, but it was her victory so she praised it as such.
Silver Trace was the last to dig in out of the pups. Moving on the hind quarters and chewing through the mess of meat. Her jaws were stronger than Ynear and Wither since her and her siblings were slightly older.
Sacrifice watched as the pups dug into the meal. She was hungry as well, and even with a full cow next to her, she would wait until the pups and Nachi were full to start gouging and filling her belly.
Risen watched the pups, then glanced to Cavan as he moved around her. Her tail went instinctivly up as well as her head as he spoke to her, his proposal lit a small rage inside. Her look was hard to him, but something quickly raced through her mind that force her lips to tug into a wicked smile. She gave a soft chuckle and spoke to Cavan softly, as if the wolf had offended her in no way. "My dear Cavan. If you are claiming I am not doing my job as leader of this pack, you are sadly mistaken. I don't doubt you are a strong and proud wolf, but I truthfully have never considered the thought of a mate or an equal..." She let that word trail as if to remind him of that who did claim to be her equal or even her better. "However, I shall change my mind on one condition." She looked among the pack then lowered her voice to where only he could hear. " One that shall not be repeated infront of the rest of the pack." Her words were strict but her appearance quickly averted into a charmful look. "I will not promise your position higher than mine, But the others will see you as of equal power." Her words continued low so the others could not here, yet charmful and seductive. "Come, I will tell you my proposition. Away... from the pack."
The alpha's head raised and she spoke to the others. "Congradulations again, Nachi and pups. When they have had their fills, the rest can consume their helpings. If we do not return by the time you have all stuffed, then please bring the food back to the packland. We will return shortly." Her head lowered as to take her into an easier gate, cantering away from the pack. So that they were far, far from hearing.
Cavan & Nachi
Shifting a look from Vampyre, his attention was focused again on Risen, "Oh, no, your leadership skills are what brought me to this pack in the first place." Cavan assured, careful not to say anything negative or jeering to his alpha. Curiosity toyed with him when she continued to speak, and he couldn't help but show a slight grin. "This, I would like to hear." With a quick look to Nachi, Cavan followed after Risen.
Growling happily as she ate, Nachi hardly noticed her brother leaving. Instead of going for the most choice peices of meat, the female devoured the flesh from the skull of the mother, then knawed on the neck until she had completely severed the head. When her stomach was finally bulging with good food, Nachi took a few steps back and sat on her haunches. Licking her lips, she watched as her pups fed, and made sure no one bothered them.
Risen .+. Pups
After moments, the alphess had returned with the same look she had left with. She sauntered in and watched as the pups continued to eat, then turned to watch Cavan arrive. She knew she had put him in an uncomfortable position. It was for the good of the pack, and that was the only thing on her mind.
Ynear and Wither seemed to fill at the same rate. When they were done, Wither moved to a tree, yawned then napped while the rest took their turns. Ynear walked over to her mother. She laid down by her feet, licking her lips as her mother had done, then lowered her head to watch the rest of the pack.
Silver Trace finally finished and moved to the outer rim of the pack circle. She not only cleaned her lips, but her paws and chest as well. She kept herself content in her own bath.
Sacrifice could only watch, not every pup had eaten yet, but she was not so hungry. She liked the fact of the pups new strength. It guarenteed them survival, and the survival of the pack.
Lion & Tersek
Tersek snarled loudly and boastfully as he ate, picking the choisest peices of meats. His banner was held high in its rightful position as one of the dominant pups. It wasn't until his stomach was bulging and could hold no more that he stopped eating. With a careful look to the others, he padded a few yards off into the brush and sat down to clean himself.
Lion followed up with his mother's actions. Going for the yearling, he meticulously ate around the head then chomped through the neck. It took his smaller jaws much longer, but he succeeded in his task after several long minutes. Happy with his work, he dragged the skull towards Silver Trace. "For Outcast." He said quietly, resolutely.
Vampyre
The black wolfess felt she should eat, after all she didn't help kill the prey. She sat away from the carcass and waited for the pack to finish.
Risen
Ivory fangs appeared as the last pup finished and she went to the more tender yearling. She had helped bring it down, it was hers to eat. She began to munch and then signaled to the rest of the adults to start eating. Her hackles raised to make sure they didn't cut into her choice meat but they were allowed to eat around her.
When she was through, most of the stomach and ab muscled were devoured. She lifted her head and walked to the front of the pack, waiting for the rest of them to finish so she could take the food back for storage.
Sacrifice devoured the rest of the hind end of the mother, where Silver had been eating previously. The meat was almost gone already but she made sure the rest of it was gone as well. When she had finished she stepped back, ready to carry a carcass home.
Risen
She was sitting patiently when she heard Betrayal's call for Nachi. Her eyes immediately narrowed and a soft growl began to errupt in her vocals. "So you're going to play it that way." She tossed her head to the side. Calling to Nachi, "Betrayal is calling for you. I shall warn you to keep your guard up, she has not been herself lately and I fear she is trying to create a conflict within the pack. She'd fight brothers and sister, Mothers and daughter, mate against mate if she had to. If you wish to leave before the rest of the pack then do so however remember: She is a liar, a profesional liar, who will play you like a pup with a mouse." She hissed then nodded to her. "I am warning you for your own safety. You don't deserve to be played." She was quiet, letting Nachi now choose her course of action.
Cavan & Nachi
As the signal was given to eat, Cavan helped himself to the cow. Picking through what remained of the delicacies, he wolfed down several pounds of food. And when his stomach was good and full, he began to dismember the carcass. Making it easier to drag back to the mountains, where their home turf resided.
Nachi pricked her ears, hearing the call from Betrayal. As far as the crazed she-wolf went, she didn't care one way or the other about the other females in the pack. Pups were everything to her, but she was smart enough to stay on the leaders' good sides. Looking to Risen, Nachi furrowed her face into a look of suspision and confusion. "I'll see what she has to say, and I'll take your warning under advisement." The wolfess replied, though didn't take Risen all to seriously at the moment.
Looking to his sister, Cavan spoke up with a strong tone of authority and warning to her, "Watch yourself, Nachi. I will be there soon, after the rest of the pack finishes eating."
It wasn't often that her brother spoke to her in such a tone, but she nodded anyway, "I will. And you will watch my pups, won't you?" Her tone wasn't in the question form at all. With a quick look to her brood, Nachi turned away from the pack and headed for the Ruins.
Cavan watched her go, feeling a pang of uncertaintly creep into his mind. He was sure his sister could handle herself, but she had a knack for not listening to him and doing what ever she so pleased. With a mental sigh, the wolf sat down next to the dismantled hind quarters of the cow, which he planned to drag back to the Ruins soon.
Vampyre
She saw Risen and Cavan prepare to leave with the carcass. Standing up, she waited for the others to finish up, then she would help carry the leftovers back to the Ruins.
Monarda
Waiting diligently until it was her time to feast, Monarda took her turn at the carcass. She ate around the front half of the adult moose, cleaning it up and making it more manageable to take back to the pack lands. With the back end severed by Cavan, and the head taken off by Nachi, Monarda worked on one of the front limbs so that a pup could carry that back.
Cavan
When the pack had finished eating at last, Cavan looked to the pups, "Stay near me, you hear? Two of you can take back the two skulls, and the rest can help drag back the remainer of the carcasses." Having been given pup-duties by his sister, Cavan figured it was his job to give them orders, and of course, to make sure they fell under no harm. Taking hold of the severed backquarters of the mother cow, Cavan began to tote it back to the Ruins.
Dally
The falcon returned to the kill sight, with much information to divulge. As the pack seemed to be headed back, Dally alighted on the ground near Risen, "I've got some news for you." He announced, glancing hungrily at the meat before looking back to the wolfess, "Most importantly I think, Betrayal is plotting against you. I do believe that Kali and some other fae... I don't know her name... are going to go against you. Disaster is apparently loyal to her as well." The little raptor was a double-crosser, that was for sure. He was opportunistic as well though, and would gladly shift to which ever side won this quarrel. His preference was always for Risen though, as he had taken a strong liking to her back when she was a member of the Lurkers. While he tried out his options on both sides, he'd fight for Risen before he'd fight for Betrayal. "She sent me to the Sedge Creek pack to take out Zhener, but the eagle wasn't there. And before I left... I saw Outcast. Barely alive, but breathing none-the-less. Oh, and the brother of Nachi and Cavan is living in those lands now."
Monarda
She overheard some of what Dally was saying, but to be truthful, her allegience was undecided. Monarda hadn't been with either alpha long enough to choose one favorite over the other. For the time being, she was loyal to both equally. Not allowing herself to dwell on the possible mutiny, Monarda focused on the task of delivering the food back to the pack lands. Taking up the mostly-devour front portion of the cow, she began to laboriously drag it back to the Ruins.
Lion & Tersek
Lion nodded to Cavan as he headed for the skull that he had taken off. Carefully grabbing it in his jaws, he dragged it towards the Ruins, making sure that Cavan didn't get out of his sights.
Tersek took the mother's skull and followed diligently after the two adults. Like Lion, he was eager to get the skulls back to the Temple and follow up with what Risen had told them about before the hunt.
Risen
A pang of anger flitted through her body as she heard the information. "It is confirmed, Betrayal is going to turn the pack members against pack members. A sight to behold if life keeps me in this direction. Thank you Dally. Sacrifice!" She barked and nodded as the two faced fea left. "Come Dally, this conflict will not be pretty, It will be interesting." Risen soon took to a quick run toward the ruins. She wanted to confront Betrayal soon.
The pups nodded and eached grabbed a piece of meat. Following closely behind Cavan.
