Solange

A white-tailed buck traveled carefully through the coniferous area. He was an oddity of the animal world. His large antlers had numberous tines on them, all branching out in strange ways. It was a genetic deformity, and made him treasured and coveted by humans. They wanted his head on their walls.

Knowing full well what the two-leggers could and would do to him, especially since he and his herd killed a few of the creatures a month back, Solange was extra wary.

Reverie & Lanchar

The two coyodog siblings picked up on the buck's scent and followed it eagerly. He didn't smell sick or wounded, but they would still give him a shot.

Reverie took the lead as her brother followed. She circled wide around Solange and began to stalk swiftly towards him, from behind.

Lanchar followed suit, staying less than two feet from his sister as they made their advance.

Solange

Solange snorted and wheeled around, hearing their footfall. He stamped the ground and shook his antlers defiantly at the two approaching predators, relieved a bit by their smaller size, but fearful because there were two. He knew he could run and outpace the two canids, but the brush was too thick here for his wild antlers, and he'd risk getting caught up on branches and vines. So he had no choice but to stand and fight.

Reverie & Lanchar

Reverie hesitated, knowing that prey could be terribly dangerous when they stood in defense like this. "Maybe we should find something... a little more easy to take down." The coyodog suggested.

Lanchar shook his head, "Nonesense, Sis." Now his voice dropped to a whisper that was hardly audible, "I'll go for his left, and you for his right. He can only attack one side at a time... we'll tag-team him."

Reverie hesitated but then gave a nod. "Alright, alright. But be careful..." The two came forward again but then suddenly each veered to a different side; Lanchar to the left and Reverie to the right.

Solange

The buck snorted and shook his antlers again, watching the two with both fear and hatered. He backed up a few paces then suddenly swung sharp to the right; Lanchar's left. His strong antlers, free of their velvet skin, were deadly dangerous. And he aimed to push the coyodog right into the ground.

Reverie & Lanchar

Lanchar yelped in surprise, feeling the heavy antlers hit his side and drive him to the ground. "Reverie!" he yelped again, as now the tines peirced his flesh. He kicked out and snapped, but only broke a tooth against the tangled antlers.

Reverie changed her attack and now sprung for Solange's throat. "No, leave him alone!" she snarled, fearing for her brother.

Solange

Solage brought his hind legs up and thrust his head even harder against the canine, letting nearly half of his weight rest on Lanchar, through the pointed tines. From the side of his eye, he spotted the sister rushing for an attack. Solange pulled back quickly, but not quite quick enough to evade it. Her teeth tore at his skin, leaving a large wound as he pulled back where blood began to run freely. He kicked out at her now with his front hooves and then began to back off, hoping she would not continue her assault.

Free Spirit

A stallion from the Horse Clan heard the noises. He had come back here, where he first met the deer herd, to see if he could find them again. It had been a while since they last met. But he wasn't at all expecting this scene. Where was the rest of the herd?
Free Spirit sped up and leapt out of the underbrush, just in time to see Solange kick out at the canine. "Hey!" he called out, rushing toward the animal frenzy.

Reverie & Lanchar

Lanchar yelped in agony when the tines were pressed further into his side, breaking some of his ribs. He staggered to his feet when Solange backed off, but crumpled to the ground again.

Reverie dodged away from the flailing hooves and sprung to her brother's side. She snarled savagely at Solange and Free Spirit. What a bad choice they had made! Knowing she could not take on both creatures, the coyodog flattened her ears back and flashed her fangs at them, "Alright, you've made your point! Leave us be now, we're no more threat to you!" She gritted her teeth at saying such a thing, for it was odd to try and bargain with 'prey' animals.

Solange

Solange was preparing for a rush when he heard his friend. Lifting his head, the buck turned to Free Spirit, "It's good to see you!" he exclaimed, feeling a whole lot better about the situation now. He turned to Reverie a moment while speaking the stallion, "They tried to attack me, but I think I've about finished one off. It's too hard to run through this place with these antlers."

Free Spirit

Free Spirit flung his head up in joy. "It's great to see you again!" He let out a neigh and then snorted. He flattened his ears at the caninesand stamped a hoof. He remembered what he did to that one dog at the Canyon. That was clearly revenge on the humans, seeing as how they shot his leg. "I believe they've learned their lesson now."

Solange

The buck nodded, wincing at the sting in his neck. "Yes, we should get going then. I must find Nhosh soon; he's on the look out for a good territory to claim. He wants to bunk down with a horse herd." Solange snorted lightly, "He really likes to get as many of us Arlas together as he can." He used one of the words for 'hooved animals' that the Almuit Rune herd used back in their homelands. Glancing hastily away from Reverie and her brother, he turned to Free Spirit, "I hate being in such thick brush with these antlers. Shall we head for more open land?"

Free Spirit

"I guess." he said. "How about the Tall Grass Prairie? That place is wide and open." he looked around and kept a close eye on the two canines.

Solange

He nodded, "Sounds good to me. Anywhere but here I'd say." Solange replied, flashing the coyodogs a final, warning glare. Then he headed for the Tall Grass Prairie, flagging his tail the entire time until he was out of the Bog.

Reverie & Lanchar

She watched as the other two lost interest in them. Whimpering, she nudged her brother and helped him painfully to his feet. "Come on, we must get out of here." She urged, bracing Lanchar. Slowly, the duo made their way out of the Bog.
