*Lynx*

A hissing, screaming noise pierced the air. A lynx had gotten its paw stuck in a leg-hold trap. Now it was flipping about and bitting the metal contraption, bewildered and frantic to free itself. It had run across a trapline set by a hunter. The scent of the human was not new, and he probably wouldn't be around for a while. But he'd be awfully upset if his catch was killed or in anyway ruined...

Tamira & Kavik

The two wolves walked along, unsure of where they were going. Tamira was like a bag of dirt, being all dusty and pretty mud-caked. She and Kavik had left the Opake Mountains. They felt that Aava, Vivek, White Eclipse, and Huttsa could handle what was going on. But Kavik would always be sharp to listen for a howl of Aava's. Tamira, not for being all very active, would probably not even hear a mouse squeek right beneath her head. She was a bit hard of hearing anyway.

Kavik was leading Tamira away when he heard the hissing noise. His ears pulled back instantly at the loudness. Slowly, one of his ears pricked forward, the other one still laid back. He quickly sped up and barked for Tamira to follow.
He stopped short of the lynx and started growling, sending both ears back again. He seen this as a time to have some fun or as a time to help another in need. He started circling the trapped feline, keeping his eyes looking straight at it.

Unlike Kavik, Tamira was nicer and not usually very aggressive. She stopped when she heard Kavik's growls, her own starting up. She quickly quieted down and stared hard at the lynx. Ignoring the loud noises, she pulled her ears back, not in an angry or warning way, and she examined the scene.

Kavik continued to circle the lynx.

Vicious

He walked up to the trap and the other two wolves. Looking at the trap, he knew it was a humans, and the human may come to check it. His eye fell upon the creature and then the two wolves. Though he kept a low profile and kept out of sight to the two wolves.

*Lynx*

The lynx pasted his ears back, swinging out a well-clawed paw at the wolves; a warning for them not to attack. "Back off!" he spat, thinking they were either here to harass or kill him. Momentarily giving up his struggles, he stared at the two wolves whom he could see, not noticing that Vicious was at the scene as well.

Vicious

He snuck up a little closer, still looking around for a human. Then he came out and walked up on the opposite side of the other wolves. "Well you're a bit stupid, arn't you. You smell a human, you watch your tracks." He growled and lowered his head. His teeth glistened with a little blood from his last kill. While his new scratches were bright red with blood.

*Lynx*

The lynx narrowed his eyes, following the newcomer's every move, "Don't be so hasty to judge me! I find your kind in these traps more often than my kind." He hunched down, trying to ignore the clamping pain in his paw.

Vicious

He laughed, "Well isn't it ashame that you are one of the many few who ended up here. For i haven't been in a trap. I -am- the trap." He growled. Fangs begining to show as he neared the feline. "I'm wondering what i would be worth more for. Killing to animal in a trap. Maybe eating most of it before the humans get to it. Or maybe i should let you go, and you owe me a small price." He began to circle the lynx and waited for something more. Though he did really want a human to come out to claim their prize.

*Lynx*

The lynx hissed menacingly, "I'd like to see you try and kill me! I may have one paw trapped, but I've got three more that can do more damage than any number of your dull lupine-paws!" He threatened with a savage display of fangs. "And also let me warn you that a feline bite is worse than a canines in the heat of the summer." The lynx watched Vicious as he circled, doing his best to keep his eyes on the wolf. He desperately wanted the wolf to help him, but the pain and fear of being trapped made him too defensive to stop and think clearly.

Vicious

He growled and walked slightly closer. "How about i help you out, i don't think the humans would like that their victum got away. But in turn for my actions, you must retreive a human and lead them this way. I shall hide and attack after you pass." He walked up and searched the trap with one eye for a hint on how to open it.

*Lynx*

The lynx calmed just slightly, enough to actually consider his offer. He glared down with sharp eyes at the trap, then looked to Vicious, "Alright, you have a deal. But I'm warning you... try anything funny, and I'll make you regret it!"

With a closer examination, the scent of sweaty, oily human hands comes strongest on the chain as well as either end of the trap itself. There are small levers here on the sides of the trap, which both must be pressed in at the same time for the trap to open. While a wolf can succesffuly push down one lever, the other one can't be reached or pressed upon easily by just one wolf...

Vicious

He sniffed the two levers, then growled. "Try to press on one side, I'll press on the other. Hopefully you're heavy enough to press it down. I'll press the other, let's see what happens." He hopped up then pressed down on one side with both his fore paws. Then looked to the linx to press the other side.

*Lynx*

The lynx gave him a bewildered look at first, but followed along. The lynx pressed down on the opposite lever, trying to put as much of his weight into it as possible. It didn't work. At least not at first... The lynx grumbled in frustration and brought his body up as high as he could, then slammed all his might down onto the lever through one paw. The trap gave a little, at least enough for the lynx to pull his paw out, which he did in earnest. "Free!" he cried out, lifting his wounded paw in the air as the trap clanked shut again, now with nothing in it.

The feline looked to Vicious with a long gaze, "I don't know why you would help me, but regretably, I do own you my life." The lynx gingerly set his paw to the earth, "Go find a hiding place and I'll lure the human in. But it may take a while; who knows when he'll come." Sniffing at his paw now, the cat waited for Vicious to take to hiding.

Vicious

The wolf nodded, turning he jumped into some bushes and layed into a pounce position. He gave a soft growl to teh lynx when he was totally out of view. "Go" He kept his ears and nose active while looking at the lynx until he left.
