Cavan & Tupit

Padding into the think vegetation was a heavily marred wolf. His face was a myriad of zagging scars. His left ear was nothing but a ragged stub, and the other, although looking perfectly fine, was completely deaf. And his right eye was clouded and pale; totally blind. The blind and deaf organs were a genetic defect at his birth, although the scars and missing ear were from a vicious scuffle with his usually peace-loving brother.

Having limited hearing to say the least and only one good eye, Cavan had become even more fierce and on edge. He carried his son, only a few months of age, carefully in his jaws. The youngster was desperately weak and gaunt and no longer cried out for the warmth of his mother who had disappeared. Having no home now, Cavan settled down by a log and nudged the weak Tupit to his side, then flicked his brushy tail over him.

Ice

The large cougar had been wondering, looking for something to do when the smell of the two wolfs. Peds carried him towards them, his head low as he peared over at them threw the pushes. When they layed down he walked out from his hidding place and sat down, looking at them.

Cavan & Tupit

Cavan didn't hear the large feline approach, nor did he see them because he had drifted into a light sleep. But his nose, having grown exceptionally keen with the severe lack of his other sense, picked up the cougar's scent. A stiffled rumbled rolled through his throat as his head shot up and his good eye roamed fuertively about. Spotting Ice soon enough, Cavan bolted upright, standing ridgedly and hovering over his weakened son. "I don't know what plans you've got, but don't even think about including me or my son in them." he warned hastily, assuming right off the bat that this cougar meant danger. Cavan had a bad tendancy of being edgy and grumpy with others, especially now that he lost his mate and two of his offspring.

Tupit whimpered pitifully and watched Ice with wide and slightly sunken eyes of hunger.

Ice

The cougar had been a little startled when the wolf jumped up and snarled at him. In respone Ice jumped up to his legs and bared his teath, growling at Cavan, his auds flat against his head and his tail locked in place. "I hadn't any intention except talking." He snapped at him. Then slowly he walked forwards, snarling challanging Cavan to see if he would really make the mistake of fighting Ice. In reality he had no intention of fighting him, but he wanted to see where Cavan stood.

Cavan & Tupit

Cavan pulled his ears back as well, although it was a different sign for a wolf than it was for a cougar. Fear and a decline to fight, although his now bared teeth showed he would fight if he had too. Cavan grew more tense, but strangely, his fear began to eb slightly. He was thinking back to his days with the kodiacs, Athara, Nyx, and Drakar. Like his sister, he always held a fascination for predators stronger than himself.

Cavan averted his eye downward slightly, giving in to Ice's superior strength and authority. "Just try'n to protect my kid." he explained after a moment, still anxious but glad that he hadn't been attacked yet. "I'm just not use to being... well, surprised."

Tupit calmed a bit as well and snuggled against one of his father's legs for warmth. The soggy ground wasn't doing much to keep him warm. But his fascination grew and he couldn't keep his eyes off of Ice. Never had he seen a cougar before.

Ice

As Cavan began to tense up, then relax a bit, Ice did as well, he had a short temper but he wouldn't let it get the best of him for now. He sat back down on his hauches seeing Cavan lower his head, his tail flicked back and forth. "I wouldn't hurt him no worries. I hadn't ment to suprise you like tha, just bored I suppose.." As he spoke, he felt the little vermin's eyes staring at him, then he suddenly glared down at the vermin, staring back with her veirce black eyes. "You should be in your packlands if with your small one if he is that sick/hurt" He said to him, looking back up, gazing not at Cavan, but through him. He sniffed at the pair with his nares, and hadn't found a trace of any pack that lived around her. At once he almost offered them to come to his pack lands.. well they weren't his they were Ghost's but the family all lived there.

Cavan & Tupit

A flash of anger and despair ran through him at the mention of his pack. "I... don't have a pack." he replied gruffly, gritting his teeth as he thought of Miki Suka and his two offspring that were gone. "I was looking for my sister, but who knows where she's at anyway." Cavan lifted his head a bit, searching Ice's scent now and finding with surprise that it seemed to carry the scent of a wolf pack! He instantly thought back to his early days living with the bears and couldn't help but ask, "Do you... live in a wolf pack?"

Tupit let out a squeak and shuffled around the other side of his father's leg, suddenly finding Ice to be very frightening. Feeling his stubby-pup legs begin to tremble, he sank down to the cold earth and peeped his blunt face around to look at the cougar again, this time feeling safer because he was behind Cavan's leg.

Ice

Ice nodded is response to Cavan's question. "Yes I do, I live with Ghost and her family." When the pup fled back behind Cavan's leg, Ice layed down and peered down at him. He never really spent a time with any pup since Ghost's had perished in the cold winter, she had no one except her family and desperitly wanted pups again. Then he looked up at Cavan again. "Who is your sister, I could help you find her if you wish." He offered to him. At the moment he actualy felt like being nice and helping out.

Cavan & Tupit

Cavan gave a slow nod to show in acknowledgement to Ice's first response, which greatly increased his curiousity in the cougar. "Nachi." he replied simply, looking at the ground a moment before turning to Ice once more, "She's an oddball though. She likes to hang around.. well, cats. She adores them and loathes her own kind. All except me, I guess." The scar-faced wolf frowned in thought, "She's usually around the Breve Ridges now, but it's hard telling."

Ice

Ice lowered his head so it was parellel to his shoulders, thinking then looked back up at Cavan. "I do not think I have heard of that name before..." He pondered the thought again, Breve Ridges, he didnt usualy go there. Brute stood up and streatched. "If you want a home, you can come live with us until you find you sister..." He offered him. He looked around and growled when he heard a twig break, the humans would be out to hunt soon.

Cavan & Tupit

The thought of a pack life, with other wolves, had one time brought disgust to him. Now he greatly welcomed it, but not so much for himself. His son would die soon if he didn't get the right care, and Cavan was no great father. He needed help from she-wolves or at least some more responsible male wolves than himself. "I'd really appriciate a home right now. Where is located?"

Ice

Brute turned and jumped down to the solid ground and looked back up at Cavan. "This way, follow me." He told him, then turned and walked back to Opake mountain.

Cavan & Tupit

Cavan plucked up his son by his nape and loped after the cougar. Now and then he gave a fuertive glance behind him as he went.
