.wolfsbane.

.the bushes off to the side of the runs rustled slightly, and the head of a canine peeked out. silent, he padded towards the runs, eyes glancing about warily. he was the color of midnight, his eyes the only other color on him. his eyes, one a pale blue, the other wolf-green, were the only signs of the dog in him. somewhere in him ran the blood of an alaskan malamute, but it was very little.

.he stopped suddenly, head up, ears tilted forward. he knew that aleu had been here, for he smelt her scent, but it was cold, and mingled with human. he pulled back his upper lip and snarled silently, then continued on, pacing, walking just along the rim of the cages, muscles taunt, ready to bound away. he had to find aleu, for she was his mate, and he had returned from a journey to find her missing. she could be in great trouble if this was where she was...

*Wolf*

A she-wolf suddenly snarled and lunged at the front of her kennel, gnashing her jaws at the wolf as he passed by. Her ears were planed out to the side in aggression, "I don't know what your business is here, but you'd better scat!"

.wolfsbane.

.the wolf leapt to one side as female leapt at the fence, and he pulled back his upper lip in a snarl. my business is none of your concern, and you would do well not to hinder me! not like you can, really, being that you are caged... he smirked. his two-colored eyes narrowed, and he waltzed towards the fence again. by any chance, was there a white wolf-hybrid here, not too long ago? her name is aleu... he highly doubted that the wolfess would help him, but he had to ask anyway...

*Wolfess*

She snorts, fangs bared and hackles up still. "Perhaps it's none of my business to tell you that. Don't expect anything good from this place, or from those who 'reside' here." Her words were quick and cold, like her eyes. There were square patches of fur missing along her back and near the base of her skull. Lines of insiscion could be seen near these shaved patches, as well as the stitches. Though Wolfsbane couldn't possibly know, this wolf's aggression was majorly due to what the humans had done to her.

.wolfsbane.

.the wolf sat back slightly, and tipped his head, his pale blue and green eyes searching the wolfess. he made a motion, like a human raising their eyebrow as he sat silent, simply watching her. something about her puzzled him, but he wasn't sure what. his eyes narrowed and he glanced about nervously, chilled slightly at the thought of being so, well, so out in the open. he stood, and shook himself off. i don't really expect much of anything from anywhere or anyone. i've had my experiences with humans...after all, i was born a pet. it was true. he wished it wasn't, but it was.
his mother, a half-wolf, had been bred to a large black wolf, a fighting dog. when the pups had been born, only wolfsbane survived. he had been taught the way of fighting, but had managed to escape that life not too long ago. he bore scars hidden by his thick fur, and he too was aggressive.
in slight pity, he glanced about the female's enclosure, roving with his eyes. apparently there was no escape once you were within the wire of the cages. oh, how he hoped aleu was alright!

*She-Wolf*

"You shouldn't in this place." she retorted to his first statemtment with her voice carrying a definant tone of aggression. "I was born in the wild, but that doesn't matter anymore. You should waste your good fortune here or you'll end up like the rest of us!" The wolfess dipped her head down, growling faintly as she stared at Wolfsbane. Then her leveled ears shot up and her lips writhed up to further reveal her striking ivories.

The sound of a door creeking open caught her attention. It was a door that came from the Laboratory; a human was just walking out of it...

.wolfsbane.

.the wolf pulled back his upper lip in a snarl at her retort. so touchy, she was. at her second statement he again tilted his head, as if raising an eyebrow. he then noticed her sudden change, the way her ears shot up, and he turned to glance the way she too looked. he stood, silent, muscles taut, ready to bound. his own ears shrank back against his head, and he lowered his head slightly, taking on the position of a wolf ready to run, or fight, whichever...he preferred running, simply because he wasn't big on getting caught or injured, yet he had a slight curiousity which he couldn't shake...he knew that most likely a human would appear soon, so he slunk towards the brush, not disappearing, but ready to at any sign of the human.

*Human & Wolf*

A human walked down the path, just missing sight of Wolfsbane. The man carried a long rod in his hand, a nasty new weapon that most of the Nefaryous Lab workers now carried in reponse to rising conflict with wolves and hybrids. The man strolled down the kennels.

The she-wolf pulled her ears back and snarled loudly at the man, then lunged at the kennel gate and snapped her fangs at him as he went by. He thrust the rod at her muzzle and a strange, thin-snapping sound could be heard. Yelping in obvious pain, the wolfess sprung back and crumpled to the ground. She was up quickly, whimpering and pawing at her nose.

.wolfsbane.

.the wolf remained still as the human passed, not allowing himself even to breathe. once the man had passed him, and his attention was focused on the she-wolf, the onyx shadow began to breathe again. what was he going to do? suddenly he heard the odd sound, and both ears straightened, and he lifted his head slightly, then tipped it to one side as he watched the she-wolf's odd behavior. what was that? he tenatively put a paw forward, then pulled it back. he hunkered down, fighting with himself, frightened that any moment the man would turn and catch sight of the pair of odd colored eyes that were watching him with such apt attention. no, he couldn't get caught, he had to be careful...
