Reaper
Reaper creeps into the area, his keen eyes scanning the area for any humans. He remembered this terrible place was where he had last seen his old freind. His gray and white pelt glissened in the light of the setting sun. His lifted one of his floppy ears listening for the sound of humans. He takes in the many scents till he finds Silva's. He makes his way down the long row of cages. He didnt know where Jewl was, or his son, or that wolf who had helped him, Jewel, and his son escape from downtown. But he knew hed find Silva here. He just knew it and finnaly he comes upon her pen his tail swishing. "Silva!" He barks lowly to try and be as quiet as possible. "I came to try and help you escape..." He was glad to see her but knew not to dawdle for he knew the humans lurked.
Silva
She lifted her head slowly, her eyes seeming dull. But when she realized it was her old friend, Silva scrambled up and hurried over to the front of the kennel, "Reaper, am I glad to see you! How have you been?" she questioned. Although her backbones and hips showed slightly with lack of food, her stomach was very large indeed.
Reaper
He smiles at her wagging his tail glad to see she was alright. "Ive been good though I dont know where my son or Jewel is." He says searching for a way to help Silva escape. "Is there any easy way to get you out?"
Silva
She smiled lightly, but a clear expression of sadness was also shown. "I've tried many times." her gloomy eyes turned to the latch that held her cage closed. It was closed tight and had a small spring in it that required the flexible fingers of humans to use.
Reaper
He sighed and tried biteing at the latch but to no avail. He paced for a moment trying to think of what to do. "There has to be a way. I am not leaveing you behind again." He says refering to when he was forced to leave here leaving Silva all alone. He then remembered how he clibmed out the last time. "Silva. Do you think your strong enough to climb out?" He said curiously and then he began biteing at the latch again ignoring the foul metalic taste.
Silva
She looked up bleakly with a sad sigh, "I've tried before, but they put me in a cage with a chain top of it." she explained. The top of her kennel was covered in chain-link fencing, just as the sides were. "They do not trust me as much as they do the others; not that they trust any of us." she gives a faint smile, but it was hard to be happy when she was confined to this prison.
Reaper
"Well mabey I can break some of the chain links." He suggested. He knew they tasted bad and might hurt his teeth but he was only concerned with freeing Silva. "Or you could pretend to be sick and when they come to get you I attack and we make a run for it. But I am not sure if they'll care enough to help you if they think your sick." He said as his jaws bit into the foul tasting metal links.
Silva
"Don't hurt yourself." she said with a hint of concern. She too had tried biting the chain links out of frustration, but only succeeded in injuring her mouth. Try as he might, Reaper couldn't bite through the defiant metal loops. "Perhaps your other idea might work. The humans must come in every now and then, usually earlier in the day." she pointed out, her eyes brightening up a bit with hope. "If you come back early in the morning tomorrow, I'm sure you can attack them when they enter my cage."
Reaper
Reaper stopped biteing at the metal chains. He noddded. "Ok good idea. I will stay in the surrounding forest overnight. I'll be extra careful." He says. "I will see you soon." He says to her a bit sadenned that he couldent free her but hed try when the humans came. He turned with a nod and trotted off down the row of cages and into the surrounding forest wher hed lye in wait.
Silva
She watched him go then began to pace fretfully along the sides of the kennel. She dearly missed her friend, even though she knew he was nearby. After a while she stopped her pacing and lay down.
A human passed by once before night to toss in some food to some of the canine, but no cages were opened. It wasn't until the morning that a human came out again. He stopped by a few cages to clean them before going to Silva's. In light of recent escapes, they now employed a new strategy to keep their canines in the cages. The man carried with him an electric prod. He opened the cage and held it out infront of him just in case Silva tried to attack or dart out past him.
Reaper
Reaper hadent slept at all for he knew to be alert. As soon as morning came he crept through the brush watching the kennels. When he saw the human enter Silvas cage he took a chance. He snuck threw the brush then he padded out and down the row of keenels as quietly as possible. He knew steath was needed at the moment. When the human had his back turned Reaper lunged for the back of the mans neck and he bit into it snarling.
Silva & *Humans*
Silva didn't glance in Reaper's direction; she could hear him comming and the human could not. The coyote snarled at the man and snapped her teeth at the air in warning, just distracting him from her nearing liberator. Another canine, unfortunately, had begun barking at the sight of the hybrid. While the man usually didn't pay heed to the noises of the canines, he could tell by the excitement in the barking one's voice that there was something getting his attention. The turned just as Reaper struck.
Not quick enough! Reaper's jaws didn't close quite on the back of the neck, but more around the side of it. The man thrusted the metal rod at the hybrid's side, giving such an electric shock that would send the toughest of canids to the ground in agony. But, no matter the voltage Reaper recieved, he still managed to bite down hard enough before getting shocked so that a substantial amount of damage had been given to the man's neck. The man would soon be dead from blood loss.
Reaper
Reaper yealped and landed harshly on the ground. His side hurt from the shock but he mananged to stand quite quickly anyway. He padded over to Silva. "We should get going befor more humans come with those. That shock really hurt." He said looking around. He growled lightly at the canine that had almost ruined it by barking. He then turns his attention back to Silva.
Silva
She nodded with her ears pulled back. She gingerly stepped past the man and back into the free world, sort of. Instead of running off to embrace her new freedom, she hesitated and looked back to Reaper. "There is no way of saying 'thank you' that would express how truly greatful I am." It was a sincere statement, too. Since being caught by Reaper's human, she had been confined to cages. He had saved her life before by protecting her and defying the cruel master, and now he hadn't forgotten about her when he had gotten free. There was another reason for her hesitation though. She didn't know where to go; and she was pregnant and undernurished.
Reaper
Reaper nodded looking to her though he was still aware of his surroundsings. He padded over and nuzzled her as a way to say your welcome and besides that he was just glad she was free now. "Your welcome though it was really nothing. Im not sure where we should go... I've been wandering around... perhapes we should go to Tall Grass Prarie then talk for I dont think its wise to stick around here." His tail was wagging and he padded off towards tall grass paririe at a steady pace.
Silva
"The Tall Grass Prairie is just fine; anywhere is a welcome relief from this place!" she commented heartily before slinking off after Reaper. She gave a quick glance back at the horrible labs before dissapearing into the wilderness.
